Well, respawning for a "good spawn" isn't as easy as it used to be unless players want to just run in and get killed. Can't just "Respawn" anymore unless your legs are broken. As for server hopping, I kind of agree, but it has its own risks. You may logout in a safe, empty firehouse on one server and log in on another with 4 camping bandits looking for a can of beans. It DOES have its own risk. Not that I use it.

On the pulldown on the front page (second blank line) you can find ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead and select that. Check it to see if your computer specs are up to par. As for telling whether or not you are dealing with network or graphic lag, start ArmA II: OA itself, go to Singleplayer and go to either Boot Camp or Armory (I suggest the latter since you can load the Chernarus map). If you load up and everything is choppy and unresponsive, that's graphic lag as you aren't using a network connection at all at that moment. In there, play with all of your graphic settings, lowering them until you get a decent functionality from your computer.

You can hit the Windows Start button and type DXDIAG into the search bar, save that to a text file and post that/attach the file. Or you can also hit SystemRequirementLabs and find ArmA II: OA on the list and check your PC.

That's my concern. I know Rocket has put some stuff in to monitor logging to work on an Alt+F4 solution in the future, but I am not sure how it works. Therefore I have NO idea if it's going to give false positives or not. I would imagine and hope there will be something to check that sort of thing. I admit I DO Abort via the menu when I start getting constant red chains, so hopefully they set it up to be able to tell the difference.

So even just ArmA II is running slow for you? Are you talking about networking lag or graphic lag? What are your basic PC specs? You can always try www.systemrequirementlabs.com to see if your computer can handle ArmA II.

Since their hearing was tweaked a bit in the last patch I would make sure to watch your crawling when prone even. Though you SHOULDN'T be making much noise when crawling you might be hitting a rough patch of ground or something. I went on a grocery run for our group today and went through two towns on my belly without aggroing more than a handful of zeds, but I was slow-crawling with my primary out.

When you break your legs (assuming it's your legs since it's just generic broken bones... but I didn't fall down with I broke my middle finger last month :P ) you immediately go prone. You can crouch without moving, but for all intents and purposes the game considers you prone and sets your visual/audible meters as if you were prone. Hence why the Zeds just sat there. Now, had you fallen down the barn stairs and the Zeds pointed and laughed... that would have been much more entertaining :)

OH! And for the love of whatever deity you pray to... turn off Post Processing Effects. What crap that is...

Oh, and I STRONGLY suggest that new players hit the Armory and test the basic chopper you have without unlocking anything else. Not so you can learn to fly a chopper, but it's a FANTASTIC way to scout, orientate and familiarise yourself with the Chernarus map :P Who knows, though, once the stand-alone product is released they may well put some sort of tutorial in. I, for one, learned by feeding myself to many a zombie or bandit for the first couple of days.

Might I suggest using DayZCommander instead of Six Launcher. The Six Launcher was great to get me started, but the filtering and searching system of DayZCommander is lightyears better. Six Launcher is horrific at reporting the actual PING response from poled servers.

LOL. Yeah, I will give you that one then. Player pulls UH-1H out of ass = Script kiddy... or someone with a REALLY big ass. On a side note: With the Thunderdome thing I logged out, as I said, but I most definitely made sure to log into a LOW pop server when I hopped... because I sure as hell wasn't going to spawn in standing in the middle of the landing strip at the NE airfield on a full server :P

Sorry, but you paid for ArmA II... no matter HOW you justify it. Sure, I don't play ArmA II much either, I got it for DayZ, but I didn't actually pay for DayZ. My point of view is just rational, not distorted. I've had run-ins with script kiddies and I've lost stuff (just yesterday, in fact, with a player who was invisible with a G36 C... a weapon not in the game). I was on my 15th day of survival with great gear, probably the best you can get. I ran all the way back from Kamarovo to the NW Airfield area. Is my "point of view" distorted? No. I just realise that just like EVERY one of the other 100s of games I gave tested, stuff gets wiped. This, right now, that you are playing, is not the finished nor retail version of the product. Rocket could very well release a patch tomorrow that wipes all of our characters out from the hive. That's the nature of testing. Rather than sitting here ranting on a forum about a game which you think is terrible and making personal attacks at someone who simply answered your thread... I suggest you NOT test games.

Are your PC specs up to par? What's the PING to the server you are on? How are you connecting/launching the game?

I'd still have to say it depends on the "hacker". Did they give themselves good gear and you ALT+F4? No. You aren't 100% sure that was a hacker. Are you suddenly a bunny rabbit running through a field of bear traps (Yes, this can happen)? Sure, ALT+F4 away. I got yanked into the Thunderdome last night, but I simply Aborted via the menu. I don't ALT+F4.

Make sure to check outside both of the open doors (watching to do so as fast as you can as you've just become a prime target finding that). I have found guns outside either side doors as well as the box area.

Oh yeah, that's a GREAT way to gear up... <_< Or just wait for some nub with a hack and kill them... I like that way. Good video to the OP though.

You didn't die of hunger, you became part of the food chain. Think of it this way: You saved some poor, starving zombie from suffering your fate. I think that's noble of you :P And no, I have never died from thirst/hunger. You CAN do so, however, but without an external source aiding in your passing (Zeds, players, you passed out in a road and someone drives by... it happens), it will take a while since your blood drops relatively slowly once your food and thirst hit rockbottom.

Well, you just wiped out the validity of every Call of Duty Game, all the Battlefield games and just about every other dedicated server FPS multiplayer game out there with that mentality as every one of them, at some point or another, has been hit by mass hacks. Even the "great and mighty" PunkBuster has gotten owned in CS and CS:S time and time again. WoW has had entire accounts and guilds wiped out by "hackers" (a term I am loathe to use as some jacktard who gets a script from a paysite to make himself feel better is hardly a "hacker") as well as mass numbers of bodies falling from the sky with "hacks" to perfectly form the URL for a gold seller site. I've been in PC gaming going all the way back to my 8088 and I will tell you right now: The moment the internet or mass networking was added was the moment it became a game of patching the holes against script kiddies and exploiters. Even the all powerful Apple and Microsoft deal with it on a daily basis. Welcome to the circle of life in PC Gaming. You're going to deal with this EVERYwhere. Of course... everyone I listed above actually gets PAID for their product. I didn't "pay" for DayZ.

Well, assuming everyone here is an honest survivor and not a sneaky bandit :D it looks like the fire trick will work for you next time. I don't logout, but then again, I have antibiotics and I've actually only been sick once just outside the NW Airfield (thanks to a Zed that sneezed on me since my temp was 40c). Sorry about the legs though... :P I think you need to drink more milk.

Rocket has been in talks with BMI over the stand-alone and he has even stated in the Eurogamer article that if it comes down to it he will use a completely different engine (though he would hate to have to start completely over from scratch). But as Lonrem said above, ArmA III will have backwards compatibility support for mods, so that shouldn't be an issue.

While I feel your pain and have been the victim of flacid, self-esteem starved script kiddies myself... it actually has NOTHING to do with DayZ itself, rather ArmA II and BattlEye. You should read through this post just to see how ArmA II and BattlEye work. It's not a matter of Rocket and the team finding this type of stuff "acceptable" as much as it is that their hands are tied when it comes to the engine itself. Bear in mind, and I know no one likes to hear this, this IS an alpha build of a MOD. There are plans to work with these sorts of things, but we're all just "testing" right now, no matter how fun the game can be. Now, if everyone gives up on the testing, the finished product, which was and to my knowledge still is planned to be a stand-alone game, won't be very polished.
