About lobo1845

    Scavenger
  1. Love the idea, bloody bandages or syringes on the ground when you patch up, tin cans when they eat or drink a soda. Could make figuring out other players actions or some light tracking possible. Groups could be easier to follow, I imagine they go through a fair amount of food and drink periodically to leave a trail.
  2. I think going back to locking server locations to the time zone is the way to go. I haven't seen a night server in weeks, as painful as stumbling through pitch black is it certainly ramps up the game and gives some much needed variety. Unfortunatley every hacker and his friend will have NVG's and thermals, not to mention hacks to see where you are anyway, while everyone else will have limited vision, some of whom will hold flares while running up and down the coast.
  3. As much as that would suck, I still think it's totally worth it. Combat loggers are a notch down from script kiddies in my book, both of them are too stupid to realize the point and fun in the game.
  4. String, which you can tie to flares, tin cans, smoke grenades or frags to make trip wires. Grenades should be extremely rare like all military weapons though, the barb wire shenanigans would seem mild compared explosive traps if every tom, dick and harry could scavenge frags. I really liked the idea of being able to skin animals for fur to make clothes with better insulation. The added bonus being groups being able to customize their look for better recognition as well as looking like badass survivors who've survived a lot. Also rain coats for wet weather, helmets from dead soldiers, and netting to make some makeshift ghilly/camo. Black Balaclavas for bandits. The ability to hit with the gun butt or pistol whip someone unconscious. String, tape or handcuffs to restrain, and the ability to pick them up over the shoulder and carry them at a reduced speed and without the use of a weapon. While perma death is great for this game, it still isn't enough to stop the majority of players immediately re spawning and then heading back to cherno or elektro to deathmatch again. While I love the fact that there is no leveling system, being able to obtain skills via practice, social learning or instructional books I think would go a long way into making people being more invested in their characters lives beyond the equipment they carry. It would also ramp up the tension in player encounters.

    Grounded the little turd

Nice work. Now if only every other parent can do it to these pubescent shits we'll probably only have 10 or so hackers left.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

    36. Q: Any chance of a new island when you go Beta, specifically Taviana or Lingor? [skint] A: For the alpha (december), no. I am hoping we sell 1, 2 million copies. Then we can get really ambitious... what use are islands when you have proce... I've said to much.... :P Procedural maps? Hell yeah, Nothing beats the first time spawning in and exploring the unknown. Please make it so.

    Cd Keys being Stolen ..

Cheaters getting cheated by other cheaters who then sell to other cheaters. Sounds about right, if only there was a way to screw them all over at once.
  8. You can't shoot for shit, no wonder you use hacks against unarmed fresh spawns.
  9. It boils down to you feeling entitled to cheat and ruin other peoples fun, no matter how you dress it up. I wish the ban could go further and stop you from ever playing the game again.
  10. I'm in the same boat, loved it when it was first out, people just seemed much friendlier back then and surviving against zombies and bandits with random people you ambled across was much more rewarding. Now it's script kiddies who are too stupid/crap to figure out why the games more enjoyable without cheating, idiots who have decided a survival game = a deathmatch arena and ejaculate over murder tallies and dragged everyone down to playing it like they do, and cowards who combat log and server hop as soon as they get in a tight situation. I'm going to wait until it gets released as a standalone and see what they can fix, and also see how war z turns out. Hopefully they can brick a few thousand hacked copies in the meantime.
  11. I'd give you more beans if i could. For me the tension of meeting someone and approaching them left shortly after the bandit skins were first removed, since after so many attempts it seemed much better to just leave them or shot them if they saw me. Which is sad, since that was one of the most unique experiences of this game and death-matching is one of the most overused experiences in FPS's. Even though I don't have much of a problem with self defense murders, the skin doesn't last long with 1 kill and you'd have to be clueless to not be able to lay low for a bit in 225 square kilometers of countryside for a bit. I do think maybe an extra skin should be involved, where 1 murder gets you the bandit lite skin, and more gets you the full blown bandit skin. At least it lowers the probability of getting shot on site. Either way the mechanics as they are now are skewed so far in favor of banditry it's not funny.
  12. I never really had any major issues with the bandit skin in self defense, you just need to move away to less populated areas for a little bit until you get back to survivor status, or just bandage and administer some meds if you're in a group. It will make it interesting now that most servers have disabled name tags and global chat, every other bandit can't claim to have the skin in self defense any more, which isn't so bad because most of them are lying anyway. Either way both groups can play the way they want, rather than mostly everyone being forced to play the way a bandit normally does before they were removed. Can't wait to start some bandit hunting, I got a lot of pent up rage from backstabs senseless sniping to vent.
  13. Avoid the cities and high traffic areas? With only 1 murder it didn't really take long before to lose the skin. It's really not hard to avoid people in 250 square kilometres of map and only becomes a problem if you insist on running back to the cities.

Every kill in DayZ is fair

I guess it only happens to me and players I know then since you've plainly stated the fact its universally wrong in everyone else's experience then. Thanks for setting me straight with such a compellingly intelligent response. You can tell when people hit respawn several times because there names come up as dying multiple times, and it's no where near as common as you claim. Only a few players do it and generally they are trying to spawn near a buddy or they want to spawn in the city to get back to deathmatching. I don't do it because the load times makes it not worth it. No one claimed they had a logical reason to do it, it happens because people like to grief people. And a two hour wait is ridiculous, position yourself west of cherno or east of elektro and you're guaranteed several people in a short time making their way from outer coast spawn into the city. It's why they are called high traffic areas.

Every kill in DayZ is fair

I find that hard to believe, on a populated server there are literally bodies littering the beach and road. I don't remember the last time I've been to balota and not heard flies to find multiple unarmed corpses with flashlights and coyotes. The first thing I do when entering elektro is go up the hill overlooking the powerstation, half the time there is a sniper taking pot shots into the city from there with absolutely no intention of ever going down there to loot what is mostly axes, makarovs and crappy coyote bags.
