Today I spawned as a new character after being killed by an unknown survivor and headed west to meet my buddies on our usual spot. We have a building, it's ours, it belongs to us now in a way. It's the place where meet and decide where to head off each day. Anyway, as I was going there I hear gunfire, at first Im scared but quickly I realize they are coming from a flare near the coast (it was late night, we were close to Cherno). I decide to investigate and I see a survivor running away with the flare in hand fighting off a single zombie. He was firing like crazy, missing shots, not knowing how to get a good headshot, he was new. I followed him close, my plan was to wait until the zed got him and take his food and bandages, Im not proud of it but you do what you have to do to survive. The survivor finally managed to kill the zed, his flare had run out and as I approached him he surprisingly throws another one at my feet. I got scared and run off. He then types in the chat "Guy by the flare, please come back, I need a buddy". I knew he wasn't lying. This guy was probably playing for the first or second time, he was new, inexperienced, he needed my help. Instead, I decided to use stealth, got close to him undetected and finally I finished him off. As I took his beans I said to myself "Welcome to Chernarus" and took off. But as I headed back to my team his memory got stuck with me. He was alone in the dark, scared and hurt, he needed my help, my guidance and instead I killed him without even showing my face. I felt terrible. From that point on I've decided to never kill a survivor on the coast. Im not confident enough to help them out just yet, I've been betrayed far too many times, but I will not ruin somebody's first time experience anymore. And that's when it got me, why despite the server issues and constant frustrations I've stuck with this game for way more ours than many games I've paid twice as much: DayZ made me feel something, I made me feel guilt, it made me feel ashamed of myself and most importantly it made these feelings so strong that it made me promise I would never do something like that again. For that, I am thankful.

I just want to ask you all one question: How exactly are you certain that any of the solutions you have proposed, more zombies, random babies, turning bandits into butterflies or what have you is going to fix the game? I see plenty of people complaining about how the game is running stale or whatever, but how is it that any of your solutions aren't going to end up in the same place? Please, for the love of the great Zardoz in the sky, think about the effect your suggestions is going to have in a world currently populated by 100.000 players from all over the world before making them. This is not about throwing random ideas around "just because nobody else is doing it", this is about finding balance in a game that is all about being unbalanced and unfair. Let that sink in for a moment. -

The problem here is that everyone seems to be discouraging PvP gameplay by adding a negative effect to killing someone, be it a reputation system, attracting more zombies or what have you. If what you guys want is to force people into playing cooperatively (instead of being for the first time ever truly free to do what they want) then you need to figure out a gameplay mechanic that encourages people to stick together. In my opinion the only thing this would accomplish is affecting the game negatively. Let's face it, the sole reason why we are here, why this thing is so popular is because of the wild nature of the game. Pure survival is about adaptation, if the game is filled with dicks then you better start adapting to dicks or get ready for some frustration. Personally, I just play with friends, it's simply better that way. -
What we really need is drinkable Whiskey bottles to gain some heat :D

One thing I don't quite understand is why after I die my humanity level remains the same. You are supposed to start with a completely new character yet for some reason the only thing that clears out is your equipment, but not your persona. The reason why I'm not convinced by this mechanic is because once I start up my options are very limited, I know that eventually bandit skins are going to be removed but until then I cant get close to any other survivors even if Im trying to play cooperatively, I have to continue playing as a bandit because otherwise Im just another survivor with a big "shoot me" sign over my head. I guess what Im trying to ask is: Is this feature intentional? If so, what is the reasoning behind it? Please note: I am not trying to change the game and definitely not proposing a "fix" or whatever, if this is the way it's supposed to be I'll deal with and learn to adapt, that's what survival is all about after all.

Since I installed this patch all menus in the game look really low res, like an upscaled 800x600 or something like that. The game itself looks fine and all the graphics settings are either set on High or Very High. Any ideas? EDIT: Turns out there were a few settings on the AMD console that were changed for some reason, resetting to default fixed it. Feel free to close/delete this thread.

We are gamers, we are scared of new things, we only want games where we can win all the time! /Sarcasm I think the direction the game is going is awesome, everybody is going to end being so paranoid that actually managing to establish an alliance will be that much more special. Dont be afraid to try new things man, Im sure that if the changes are really that bad they'll end being fixed. I for one welcome the changes and am looking forward to try new experimental stuff.

Dont turn this into a witch hunt, let Rocket decide what to do. We dont have to like what server providers do but without them we have nowhere to play on.

Whenever I get killed Im usually taken to the "you died" screen which says something along the lines of "Go back to the character selection screen to continue". I was wondering what was the best way to proceed from here since Respawn doesnt seem to work here and I cant find the character selection menu. What I normally do is hit disconnect and then rejoin, but I am aware that this puts an additional load on the server and if possible I would like to avoid that. Thank you in advance for the help!

Hello folks, after being killed by survivors several times I decided to become a bandit and to be honest I've been really enjoying it. One thing I noticed though is that if I get killed my negative humanity remains as it was before. Is this supposed to happen? I thought that dieing meant starting over with a completely new character, but it appears this only affects your gear.

Yeah I noticed that today too. It's true that apparently Raccoon City sucks but even so considering that it's a new game with the "Resident Evil" game slapped on it you would think it would be doing better. Im actually kind of proud of having contributed to make this happen :D
