  1. I have recently been thinking about alternative weapons that do not rely on the same old ammo types and show some of the more innovative ways we can kill zombies after the apocalypse. The two unique weapons that first came to mind are: -Chainsaw (Civilian weapon, needs gas to operate and must be refilled after 15min of continuous use, can be used to gather wood just like a hatchet) -Flamethrower (Rare Military spawn, needs gas to operate and must be refilled after 5min of continuous use, needs matches to light the pilot light, pilot light can be seen at night when turned on, takes up the backpack slot) Other unique weapon ideas designed to expand the civilian weapon options: -Golf Club (Common civilian weapon, similar damage to crowbar) -.22 rifle (Common civilian weapon, similar damage to pistols but with ~200m range and low noise/aggro range) Anyone else have ideas for alternative weapons? I have focused on alternative weapons since the classic military weapons can be easily added but do not seem to change the dynamic of fighting all that much. Just my 2 beans

    Adding 'gas' powered weapons...

    Exactly. It would also fit with the 'rare gas, common vehicles' framework that rocket said he liked during his reddit interview yesterday, it would just require some balancing to make sure it is strong enough for the work put in but not overpowered. I was thinking that the flamethrower could cause all players inside a building to go unconscious for a short/moderate amount of time to simulate all of the O2 in the room being burned up, similar to how flamethrowers were used in WWII on pillboxes and cave positions.

    Based on the sound I would say his rounds are acting like M203 HE grenades... Same result though, bad players hack to ruin it for everyone else.
  4. Please provide a source, otherwise it's just empty words. Nowhere have I seen RV4 being used on DayZ standalone. The closest I have seen in Rocket saying a "separate branch of the RV engine" being used. This could be a tweaked RV4 or RV3 (ArmA 3 or 2's engine).

    Kicking of Players for Clan members

    With the current build I don't think anyone would look down on you hosting a private hive. After a few patch cycles these problems will hopefully be fixed without granting server admins more powers. I am not saying that these admins don't provide a great service to the community, they defiantly do, but granting server admins further powers would create an uneven playing field for the other 98% of the community. Hackers are the #1 problem DayZ has right now but granting admins powers to ban/kick/lock would only replace the problematic parties. I don't think anyone would argue with you that the current system of private servers running a global hive is unsustainable and I have assumed for some time now that once DayZ goes standalone these private servers would be replaced by public, DayZ-team-run servers. The issue at the moment is DayZ itself has made $0 off this mod that is being used by over 1,000,000 players. Once DayZ has income via the standalone game I expect the servers to be centrally run.

    You can host a private hive / off-hive server. It sounds like that might be what you are looking for.
