Standalone Snipers: Make them work for the kill

    Does ACE add wind?

Are we setting the game in Japan? Or maybe 200 years after the apocalypse?

Force players to team up against zombies

Better idea, make players choose if they want to be a bandit or a survivor when the choose gender at spawn, if you are a bandit you can shoot and kill anyone you damn well please, if you play as survivor you can shoot bandits but it will be impossible for you to shoot another survivor (IE disabling the fire button while aiming at another survivor or just making survivors immune to friendly fire). That way the VAST majority of players can choose to be a bandit and those who wish for team play can be a survivor, if bandits and survivors are easily distinguishable from each other visually you won't have problems with people mistaking bandits as survivors.

Dayz and its realisam, banditry and less ammo

Sure you can do that, just don't claim you are doing it because of "realism" when its not realistic and is instead done for balancing. Edit: and the ammount of ammo you can carry is entirely dependent on the person and the caliber, I could carry a brick of 2000 .22lr as easily as I could carry 5 - 600 rounds of 5.56, and thats not including loaded magazines in a chest rig.

I think you will find if duping and hackers spawning items is eliminated, you will not feel that there is an overabundance of ANYTHING. If this is fixed, and in the future if a large part of the player base feels its to easy to get these things, it can always be adjusted.
  6. So I kinda liked the addition of the zeroing feature when I first played ArmA 2 back in the day, made the long range shooting more than just point an click, but I always felt it was somewhat lacking and I could never figure out why. That was until I got into shooting IRL, so I suggest making sniper rifles one of the most complicated weapons to use ingame. Now I really doubt they will add a dynamic wind system into the standalone game, as that would be a massive time sink for the devs, for very little pay off in the finished game. However I do think they can do some simple things to make using a sniper rifle both more realistic and difficult simultaneously, and that is to require zeroing to be done not in range to target, but in MOA. Make each scope adjust by 1/4 MOA per click, and since the bullet drop will be different, the ammount of MOA you need to adjust will be different as well for the same range, depending on the gun you are using. Another fun thing you could add in is accounting for angle range compensation. Here are a couple of videos that explain the things I suggested Another thing that could be interesting, but I don't know how it could be implemented is trigger pull. When shooting at a distance, a stable shooting position and a firm consistent trigger pull to the rear of the rifle is critical to an accurate shot. It can mean the difference between a hit on the target or a miss by feet, if you jerk the trigger when you are trying to hit a target at 400 - 800m your round is going to go wildly off target. This was always one of the things I wished would be implemented into a game, its another one of those immersion things that would go great in a realistic survival horror game. Last up is going to be shooting positions and stability, I found it odd that in a Mil-Sim like ArmA 2 they decided it was totally fine if a soldier could hold a 13 pound bolt rifle unsupported from the standing position and be able to keep the reticle from drifting by feet at ranges as close as 200m. Trust me, even a beefy guy would find that difficult to do for more than a few seconds, let alone all day long. This is just a short list of things I can think of regarding sniper rifles, if you have any more suggestions feel free to add them as well.

    Is your cdkey being wasted?

Dude CD-Keys cost $2 tell your friend to save his allowance for a couple months to afford it.

well that was fun while it lasted

To those angered by my post, do note that I fully understand your frustration and am not trying to boast/garner sympathy/promote hacking or anything else. My post was simply to point out that battleye is not useless, even paying for private hacks will not keep you safe. I was also trying to expand on my hopes for the standalone. Sorry to any who felt otherwise

I hate to shit all over your parade buddy, but the simple fact of the matter is ammunition is stupidly common on the planet, with some 14 billion rounds of ammo produced annually around the world it will take a long damn time to run out if 90% of the population suddenly up and turned into zombies and the rest were left to survive. Some countries have such a surplus of common rifle caliber ammunition that they end up selling it to US consumers (I'm looking at you post cold war eastern block countries) by the crate. I personally own 2000+ rounds of 7.62x39 alone, you can buy Yugoslav surplus by the 1120 round spam can for around 220 USD. Ammunition proliferation is not the problem with this game, its the massive amount of duping/hacking/infinitely refilling magazines that are the problem.

I ain't paying for that shitty game.

    Why do you hunt noobs?

Because the game lacks a direction once you get a gun, pvp, killing zombies, or looting more things are you only options. Most people op for PVP once they have a weapon.

I wouldn't say I was scripting because I could, it was more my becoming bored with a mod that had degenerated into a PVP hackfest, I wanted to get some more enjoyment out of the game than just the same, Spawn/ Go to tent site with duped gear/ re-gear/ go to cherno, elektro, stary, nwaf, berezino/ shoot at players/ die eventually/ repeat. it just got a bit stale. So I decided to try a private hive, was good for a while, until you get gear and start a tent, the auto duping kinda ruined it. Every now and then a hacker would mass slay the server, usually got rolled back, but not always. It wasn't like it mattered though with the amount of duping (both intentional and un-intentional) it was just a matter of minutes before you either found new gear, found a tent with gear, found a body with gear, or got killed by someone with gear. The scripts added a new dynamic to the game, it went from PVP fest to sandbox in which I could do what ever I felt like doing. Mostly I just started with spawning in hacked guns (AK-107 was a great gun just FYI), before I learned the things the ArmA engine allows you to do. Gau-8's and invisible choppers were fun, but I'm not really missing it being banned. I have other things to play (DeFRaG and Racesow) access to a few beta's, I'm just hoping DayZ standalone is does not suffer from the same problems this mod currently does.
  13. Also, not all scripters are so obvious, a friend of mine had a private radar that was way more robust than my script based ESP, he could see literally everything in a server, items, players, zombies, vehicles, helicopter crashes, tents. All the items had boxes around them, distance from, and a name, AFAIK his is still undetected by battleye, he had fun shooting players through trees and brush from about 500m away.
  14. As a scripter allow me to clue you in on some basic facts, I don't have to teleport behind you, with a map esp I can teleport directly on top of you or 200 - 2000 meters from you, along with map esp I also had a basic wallhack with playername and distance from me in meters, if I was feeling like kiling you for shits and gigs I would do it one of two ways, both unavoidable. Method one, teleport about 200 - 300m from you and shoot at you with a Gau-8 I had spawned in killing you instantly and usually launching your corpse about 500m away, method two is similar but faster, teleport directly on top of you with playershield on, you would die instantly and never know why. Along with these methods I also had a fondness for running players over in client side vehicles, you cannot see them or hear them. The only defense against a scripter is ALT-F4 and that is only if they decide they want to shoot you with regular weapons, if you want to avoid being instakilled by a scripter, don't play the game ever. As a side note, keep an eye out for lots of death messages in a short time, this usually means someone is teleporting around and killing players, GTFO the server as soon as you see that happening.

No I had more fun when the game was new and I was oblivious to all the games (and playerbases) flaws. I love that movie
