How can you even call this a game?

A bandit gave me a FAL, six mags and a 1911. I didn't have time to thank him. That's the flip side of the coin. Stop playing in heavily populated servers. Today's the first time I've seen anyone in days; the first guy I saw killed me, the second and third I had the drop on but did not kill as they had initiated no force and our encounter went peacefully, and the fourth gave me a rare and powerful weapon for no reason but to help someone else out.

    Introduce yourselves

I'm Steve.C. I am friendly to the point of giving you my last can. I will not fire on you unless you fire first. I have killed in self-defense and will not hesitate to do so again. If you need anything and I respond, know that my word is my bond: I will never initiate force. PS- To the guy who gave me a FAL and a 1911 in the barn above Electro... once again I do not judge a book by its cover and once again I am vindicated. You had a bandit headwrap but gave me gear for no reason other than to give another a leg up. Thank you, and I will continue to try to help others.
  3. OP, stick in there. You're new. There is a learning curve. Like a lot of things in life, you won't be good at it immediately. Understand what actions need to be taken, learn from your surroundings and have fun. Figure out what makes the zombies tick, then exploit their weaknesses. Just when I think the game gets easier, I make a mistake and it gets tough again. You live and learn. If you don't like it, then you don't like it. You make decisions, you experience the ramifications of those decisions, and you move on.

    Should I just shoot everyone?

I do not shoot anyone who does not shoot at me. In real life, if there were a zombie outbreak, I would not kill except in self-defense. I would rather die than sacrifice my morals. I play as I would do in real life; I try to survive and ignore others. If I ever manage to gear up (Lord knows I've got enough magazines... I just need the guns), I'm killing zombies left, right and center.

    "FRIENDLY" is bullshit

I always say "friendly." I will NEVER wound anyone I've said it to unless they fire upon me. Period. If you see my name followed by "friendly," that word is gold. If you need something, ask me and I'll see if I can help. I usually have extra food and bandages and I may have seen that main rotor assembly or fuel tank part you're looking for. Go around killing people and you lose the ability to use them for intel. Have they been to x? Are there bandits around? Where's the nearest water source? We're all survivors; I'm going around trying to see the sights and get a general layout as well as hunt and fill my water bottles. I would like to vary my loadout a bit, but that's simply to give me a chance to use different firearms rather than sneaking around. I like killing zombies and I like hunting with scoped rifles. It's just a game, but morality always plays a role in games such as this. If you can walk on by... do. Part of the fun is finding those rare weapons for yourself rather than "saving time" and killing others who've made the hike, who've had the close calls and who've spent the time finding weapons. Maybe they're a bandit, maybe they're a hacker; maybe they're just dedicated. Maybe they'll kill you, maybe they'll give you the shirt off their back. I'm a cynic in real life, but video games allow one to be idealistic.
  6. I am friendly. If you see Steve.C in game, you will not have a problem; I will help you in any way I can. I have spare blood packs and bandages specifically to heal others, though I travel alone. If you fire at me, I will do my damnedest to drop you without hesitation. I will then take everything from your body and the items I can't carry I will put underground so you cannot recover them. Banditry will be punished.

    blurry vision

Vision gets closer to normal above 5k, but is still fairly black-and-white. I'm at 5411 currently and have very washed out colors. I'm on the prowl for animals...

    ShootOnSight not needed to survive.

Hope to see you around, Gambles and other moral survivors. The game needs more people like you. Shoot on sight is definitely not needed to survive. My interactions with other players have been overwhelmingly positive. I always say "friendly" and I, probably rather stupidly but I want to reinforce the point, never point my weapon at them. I help whomever I can, once gave away my hatchet because I knew where more were and the guy was unarmed; always offer to give away spare mags if I don't need them. If anyone on the forums ever sees me (SN is same as in-game) and is looking for an item, please ask. I will point you in the right direction if I've seen it. Heck, I'm carrying two blood packs and I always travel alone... what does that say about my intentions? I'm in town to grab matches, a hatchet, a combat knife, a map, a canteen, and ammo for my hunting weapon. All I care about is getting to the woods and surviving on what animals I can kill and what water I can find. I'll upgrade from my 1911 when I have the chance, and I'll use that weapon for hunting. I'd like to see Devil's Castle too, if only through the lenses of a pair of binocs. I've killed one bandit; I identified as friendly and he opened fire. I opened fire back and didn't stop shooting until he was dead. Our firefight brought zombies, and I laid low for a bit to let the heat die off. He must've been traveling with buddies as all hell broke loose in the market in Cherno (up to that point, I didn't know windows could be broken) and I was eventually killed. Still not sure where the fire was coming from... I'll gladly kill if I'm fired upon, but the rounds need to be close and obviously intended for me, otherwise I'm harmless.
