    No. Part of the experiment is how we handle dealing with strangers. We can make our own groups, we don't need a game mechanic to define them.

  4. Well the OP suggested adding money to see what happens. Thats fine as long as its a "see wat happens" type of deal. Just add coins to the loot table and see if people pick them up.

    Public transportation doesnt exist in apocalyptic environments. Hell Public transportation didnt exist in Haiti after the big earthquake, or in any areas that suffered infastructure loss. If a train existed it could be coal powered and would take hundreds of bags of coal to operate.
  6. Its a good idea but not for individuals. In Amnesia you play a specific person. In Day Z each person is themself.

    Good idea, I see no reason why that shouldnt be an option. If they ever handle the logout to be safe issue I would shoot a guys kneecap and drag him towards zeds as bait.
  8. Since we can log into daylight servers I dont think the game will suffer long-term consequences.

    What if there was a way for a server to tell if you logged off, then back in within 5 minutes, but were not in the same location. If I log off, then log into the same server and am in the same spot then nothing happens. If I log off, then log into the same server and have moved to an area other than a respawn point, I am frozen for two minutes. It could show that hourglass symbol.
  10. I like the idea except for the "reward" part. I think putting light up is its own reward. Groups could synchronize movement and light up the city right when its time to fire on some bandits.
  11. Not AI military patrols, they are dead. You could however build a militia and do it yourself. Which is the idea of this open world. Trust me, I've been in post-govt. countries, most recently the Syrian border right after we picked up some USAID workers from Libya. You wont find "Armed Forces" doing any of what you described, but you will find locally run "rebel" groups attempting to regain order.
  12. Yeah when people ask why we arent all bandits the answer is we are. I dont go deathmatch people, but the bottom line is that most "penalty for killing" threads want Rocket and the games calculators to be a justice system. That guy shot me..penalize him. Except in an apocalyptic world there is no justice, no one to punish that murderer for you.
  13. I think it would be easier to leave the backpacks alone. They are different sizes and hold anything. If you want to be a medic go ahead. Make those choices and put more bandages in your pack and less food. Head to the coast and try to help people out. No need to copy other games to be a medic here. Want to be a sniper? Go get a rifle and pack up those mags and less bandages. No need for a "Sniper Pack" just go learn how to shoot that rifle, zero a scope, rangefind and shoot. From a development standpoint all you need is already there.
  14. So since the temp addition I have done nothing but hunt for firewood. First am I supposed to continually lose temp under any outdoor conditions? Faster in rain but on a sunny day too? Also the only way I know to increase temp is by fire, so I have to build a new one every 2 hours. Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong?
  15. Good points OP. I do notice most the "Coasties" that keep getting killed are new to ARMA and the game mechanics. This mod is about freedom and fewer rules, which is hard for many to deal with. Dont want to get murdered? Hide and sneak around.
  16. Agreed but the irony is that the ability to take a bandolier and turn it into a medical container is what survival under duress is about. I'm ok with increased skills, by practicing those skills. But not being able to put a bandage in a pack is counter to the mod developers original vision. If one wants to be a medic and carry more bandages they have to make a choice of carrying less food, or ammo etc. The game isnt supposed to make those choices for you.
  17. I think the spirit is there but I dont like magic. For instance why would any pack, medic or otherwise have limitations on anything other than space? I bought a gun bag the other day and I could fill it with donuts (or beans) if I wanted but what good would that do me if I needed my gun? I say to "specilize" for say a medic skill you can actually bandage faster the more you use bandages in your inventory. Bandage other players, and use ANY pack you want but if that pack has no bandages you cant gain more skill in that area. No magic packs that way, just useable skills. Hell you could loot 14 bandages and jump off deer stands and fix yourself if you wanted.

    This of course assumes that ALL people would get PTSD to begin with. Again Rocket specifically said the idea was to allow people to bind together and address the issue theselves if they wanted. Instead of having a computed algorithm do it for them.

    Well that was the point some people had. Copy the mainstream games since they are doing so well. This of course comes from people who don't read Rocket's community statements.

    no but if you find one your more likely to know what to do with it' date=' on the same token if things go to sh*t and i am a trained Doctor i will better know how to fix you, or if i am a trained snipe be better able to hide etc.... I am not asking for classes with special weapons only, or with special skills, just general perks for saying your are slightly better in one way then another, and if balance is an issue you can even make it so that there are negatives, maybe an sniper moves slower and can't run, or a medic can only hold 6 mags of pistol ammo as it needs more bag space for bandages... Lots of ways you can keep it realistic, not like a MMO/BF3 game and still add "Classes" [/quote'] I'm not against the idea entirely but I am against artificial restrictions. Like why cant a "medic" carry anything he wants in that bag. He doesnt carry bandages and guess what.. he cant bandage shit with his skills and dies. I dont like artificial loot drop changes. If I'm an engineer I wont magically have more tools around me. So no toolbox loot increases, but maybe I can disassemble wire fences faster. IF I find a toolbox. Why can't a sniper run? Rifles too heavy, but if I was a medic I could run with that same rifle? Just make it so you Nobody can run with rifles instead of some artificial mechanic. Or dont let medics carry sniper rifles right? So what keeps an EMT from picking up a rifle exactly?

    If I am a Sniper and I hand my buddy my gun, will the "clip size" be reduced? If we go to a shooting range and grab the same rifle off the rack, will I somehow have more bullets?
