Survival tactical officer... reporting in.
eegore replied to Tersidre's topic in New Player Discussion
The best criminal investigators think like criminals. The best military commanders think, and train like their enemy. The best "zero infastructure" survivalists think like bandits. DayZ is being used as a bandit mindset tool, not a brainwashing "lets turn cops into killers" tool. You said yourself you play as a Bandit but would lay your life down for others. Why would you think that these guys arent doing the same thing. Ignoring how "bandits" think and work is the worst thing "law enforcemet" could do, it puts them out of touch with who they are working against. Besides, the OP is lying. First off no professional says they cant tell you where they work and then give hints. Plus as another post said, the technical challenges of getting DayZ to work for 30 people would definitely put up a red flag with his superiors. Also what organization calls it "Survival Tactical" then adds Officer to the end? -
Well since its a European company making a game in Europe with a fictional Post-Soviet map it makes sense to me that they would use European methods for reading those maps. Instead of standards for any other region on the planet. Also since its a video game and not a real military map and GPS it makes sense that the GPS would read coordinates the same way the map is meant to be read by the people in the region.

The Person who owned the server YogsCast was on
eegore replied to iomegadrive1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Shocking how you apparently can't read or link emotions to words. Please take another English class and come back. I must need an "English" class too because I have no idea what your point is. Maybe a comprehension course? Both above posts make sense to me. -
The music was funny as hell. Great video.

Rocket just needs to add an option to go invisible. While invisible you can not shoot, or melee, or pick up items. You can run around and thats it. Now people like the OP doesnt have to DC, he can just be invisible so he doesnt have to play the actual game. Man I wish that single player version would have worked out.

How was he hacking?

So I'm crawling near Balota and I tell this guy with a hatchet: "I have no gun man, you're safe" This of course means "come chop me into pieces" so he runs after me. I take off running and about halfway across the map I decide to see how long he will do this. I run in a tight circle, 8-10 meter diameter with the whoosh of the axe cutting the air behind me. After a while I decide to hit the timer on my ipod and listen to a lecture I had recorded. With a ball bearing on my W key to autorun I ran in circles for 1 hour and 17 minutes, the full length of my recorded lecture and this guy chased me the entire time. In circles. All I can imagine is that he wanted to see how long I would run and I wanted to see how long he would chase. Still is kiling someone really worth that much hassle? He did eventually run off after saying "Fuck you" in German.
-
Yeah right? I really wonder if he had a stopwatch running also. Or a ball bearing on his run key.

When a corpse (human/survivor) disappears does the sound of flies stay? I've been running around spots where flies buzz like crazy but no body is around. Anyone else have this?
-
Well I was just slowly turning my mouse wit one hand so the circle wasn't perfect. Probably more of a jacked-up oval, we were all over an open area by the time it was done.
-
I had forgotten about hiding the bodies.

Is going to iron sights straight from 3rd person the same as from 1st person?
eegore replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Its the same. I've played since the original OFP and Ive heard this but usually its because the person misunderstands the iron sight. They go from 3rd person to first and use crosshairs and dont understand that isnt the actual iron sight view. In any case 1st person or 3rd renders the same results. -
Indications of banditry might reassure survivors to not shoot on sight.
eegore replied to Malmortius's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You want the realism of bruality but not of morality or consequence Thats pretty much the deal. A lot of people think removing consequence makes it "realistic" when it actually just makes fake killing easier. As for your idea I dont support it but some indicators of behavior could be useful. I liked Rockets "crows" idea for instance. -
I just had to learn it the hard way
eegore replied to M'ntaal's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Exactly. Thats the point, no incentive and part of the experiment is to see if this just deteriorates into shoot on sight non stop. I letpeople live all the time if theres no risk to myself and I dont need to be rewarded to do it. -
Craziest Thing You've Done in Day Z
eegore replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Bullfighting Zeds out by Kamenka. Run through town and get them chasing you then get up on the hill to the East and jog back and forth. When they sprint towards you strafe them and they end up running too far over the edge and die. -
Why the hell can i only spawn in Kamenka?
eegore replied to dead3ye's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just die on purpose and respawn. The time it took to type your question you cold have spawned 10 or 12 more times. No spawns arent locked. -
40 minutes? I think 4 hours of searching for something might be average if the world went to $hit. Plus that water bottle is a military canteen, find one of those laying around your town in less than 40 minutes.

He did put a counter measure in and it was bugged. No big deal, it will be resolved eventually. Actually I kind of like it because I dont even have to hit Bandits now, just shoot in the air and they disappear. Saves ammo.

Player Skills/Skill trees - Bad idea
eegore replied to Wrath (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
"Skill Trees" are somewhat static and put us into categories. "Skill Sets" can be more flexible IF the game engine can hande it. If our actions can be tracked then we can have skills sets increase our efficiency as we perform more of those actions. Medic Skills = Time to stop bleeding decreases per every 20 bandages applied. Mechanic = Time to remove or set up fencing etc. decreases per every 20 disassembled or assembled items. Ninja = No increase in sound when walking on hard surfaces per every Zed you trick with a stupid tin can. Skill sets are availabe for us to improve our worth to a group or for ourself but they are completely open-ended AND Optional which makes them compatible with sandbox play. -
Its a good idea but some of the game mechanics prohibit it. Bandits will server hop to get in, something not possible in real life. People are anonymous, unlike real life so they can murder all they want. Some group tried it before but 24/7 watches and server hoppers destroyed it.

a real quick question to those who are playing!
eegore replied to whatthefoie's topic in New Player Discussion
Yes you did it right. Find a server and play. -
So if the OP had looted the NVG's then he instantly becomes a farming server hopper?

Keep cooked meat on you.

Arma 2 Engine - Reality and common sense questions
eegore replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
"Forced" to camp out at night? How many people do you really think are going to sit and watch a game campfire for 7 or more hours? All this talk about realism then jumps straight to zombies. -
"So me & my crew adopted a shoot on sight rule this week" Thats your problem right there. Especially in a group where supply distribution and rescue operations can be part of your gaming experience. A loner has more reason to Shoot on Sight but any group can afford to have more flexibility in interaction. For instance coming up with an interaction process where one group member confronts other players and the others provide cover. Or you can just take the non-creative easy route of SoS and gripe about what a poor mechanic it is.
