when will base building start in the SA ?

Come glitch into my base, prove me wrong. I just counted, there are 69 pieces to my base, counting the sheds, and plot pole. If you get into my base, i'll agree with everything you say ever. Something that someone can't enter just makes people stay holed up into their base. It makes everyone else on the server bored, when people just sit in their base, or keep adding on to their base, in a secure location. The map is huge, and having a base in the middle of a random forest, is lame. Now, if your base is on the coast, and you get alot of action, then it doesn't get boring, for you, but still the other people on the server will just stay away from it. Fortifying houses is dumb. Why would you take away one of the most key new developments the game has over the mod. The ability to loot almost every building adds to the dynamic of the game. If you are going from house to house, in a city, you tend to pay less attention, and are more susceptible to getting blind-sided. Taking away loot from randoms, just so you can get some prime real-estate is dumb. Learn to spell Cherno. Please kid.

Dude. Base building on Epoch is the best base building in all of DayZ. They only had limited things to work with. I ask you to try and get inside my base in epoch. You wont, and I can tell you I have less than 75 building pieces. You really are mistaking if you think base building is bad in Epoch. What would you like, preset bases? Items you can just drop, like from wasteland, and have a makeshift base. You are really nieve. Also, Personally base building should be cool, but it will also ruin any servers that don't have proper admin deletion of bases. So many randoms will fill servers with incomplete bases that it won't even be able to handle 30+ people on the server without lag. They should focus on tents, and vehicles, just like DayZ was meant to be played. It's very clear that you don't have the mental capacity to help with guiding this alpha towards the future. I hope whatever server you play on, the admins don't listen to you. And, learn to spell Cherno? And just because I forgot, how does a base get made through admin exploitation? They just spawn in all the pieces? Cause thats the only way to make bases? I've never been helped by admins, and I enjoy my base. Because I worked for it. If you want a huge base, go play wasteland. Epoch isn't about having a huge base. It's about having somewhere to store your loot, in between killing n00bs. I feel like you are too busy complaining about the game to actually enjoy it. Sorry to all those offended by my thoughts. But I had to step in here to let this douche know he's dumb.

    Reddit - Aug 2012 - Q&A with Rocket

It wasn't addressed in here. But they are working on the graphics from an "Arma 2.5" feel. Using "Real Virtuality". And from what I've read about that engine. Its ALL up to how good they want to make it. I've seen some shitty graphics with that engine, and i've seen some epic ones...
  5. So I guess, I am dumb. But, lemme guess. Where the map for Chenarus ends. you can keep going into the woods... and... nothing is there? but endless fields? IS there random animals? random deerstands? Anything?

    Silenced M9 or Silenced MP5.

I have a silenced Mp5. I have 5 extra Clips. I just need a working Helicopter, full of fuel, and a can of sardines.

    Spawn with a hatchet?

Ok. So the real thing is this. There are over a million unique players. So yeah, the game has enough players. But if you spend time trying to cater to completly new people, you will ruin the game for the already player base you have. Right now, we all know how to use stuff, find loot, find maps, get organized. There are a ton of videos on Youtube, and plenty of fan wiki pages that have guides and city walkthroughs and such. So, learning how to play the game, will come with playtime. I just recently got a computer for my birthday, and the first thing i did was install dayz. I already knew how, because i saw videos online. I watched videos about playing dayz, and peoples "Play First" and just people who recorded thier day z experiences. Case in point... No one is going to Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop or wherever you are buying pc games and just looking for a random zombie apocalypse game. Everyone who is playing DayZ has heard about the game from someone in some form of something. Whether its thier friends talking about it... or just youtube or wiki pages. Most people now-a-days know how to use those media sites, as well as have friends willing to teach them the ropes. With that being said. You don't need to make the game more "whatever friendly" that you are talking about. They should just leave it the way it is... and people will learn. As far as the standalone game. If they take anything from the alpha, I'd be surprised. With thier own game, if they decide to make a new map/area/country, put in all new weapons, and a new GUI , and new everything else. But still keeping with the theme and purpose of the game... then yeah. But for people like me... im sure there are more out there. I was told about the game, and all I was told was the following.... "Its the zombie apocalypse.. You spawn with nothing. You have to scavenge for food/weapons/survival skills. And just survive the zombie apocalypse as long as you can. Also, you can run into other people who can be friendly, or deadly, depending on the server, situation, time of day and what not..." To me... that hooked me in right there. As long as they keep up with that premise... the game will continue to drag people in... So why change the game to cater to a potential set of customers, when there are already a defined amount of active unique players. I'd rather know I can sell a product to 1 million plus people than change it to appease some randoms out there. If you buy Day Z without any knowledge of the game, or anything... then yes, you might be frustrated... but cmon, in todays technology... who buys a game without doing some research. This thread was originally about spawning with weapons... If you start with a weapon? What fear is there instilled in you. Let alone if you spawn with the hatchet... if you have no lag and know what you are doing you can kill hundreds of zombies, without alerting them.. and just kill all the zombies in the game. Because its a quiet weapon. If anything, start people with a pistol.... a loud pistol. To make the threat of shooting a zombie... real. You don't want the other zombies to know where you are... but you wanna get in that building. Make the person make choices. Starting them with the ability to already defend themselves, takes away from the point of the game. Even on the main webpage for the game. It says "Step 1: Scavenge" if they spawn you with weapons..they are doing that step for you... thus, eliminating the part of the game, that is the scariest... Running around with no way to defend yourself is scary. Worrying about alerting a zombie is alot less scary, when you have a way of defending yourself. Making choices, and paying the price for them... as well as learning from them is what makes this game great.
  8. I just stumbled onto this thread. And, i dont really know if I can comprehend everything and make a detailed post and such. But here's what offering.. All of these Ideas make sense. But, I am a n00b. I just got to Stary last night with 2 friends of mine. We were skeptical about going there because of all of the rumors about people camping it for the good loot. Now as far as good loot, i got my hands on a silenced mp5, with plenty of ammo, they got the AK and the shotgun. But i did stumble across all this loot. Unfortunately, the server went down, and we immediately rejoined it... and after the server was up for like 5 minutes, ALL the loot respawned. So... we looted again, making sure we were set to go. Now we have tons of stuff. and we are geared up. Nothing tooooo high grade military or anything. But we were in starry for at least 4 hours, and saw no one, on a 37/40 server. So our next adventure has us going to cherno for med supplies. My whole thing, is i like to plan ahead. I mean, we have all our sweet loot. and we are gonna go gear up on med supplies. But after we secure that.. and are set to survive. Where do we go from there... do we just hunt survivors... there needs to be something more to do than simply... survive...

    Dear {FSB} guy in berezino

I know I don't have to post this but i will Cool story bro!

    Pricing.

The only thing to tear me away from the game would be an insane price point for this game. I mean, yeah, I never even knew what Arma2 was, let alone Arma, or Arma3(which #3 looks beautiful) but, regardless. I knew nothing of Arma, but i knew i had to buy it and operation arrowhead, and I did so... fully knowing that I was buying a game, with the expectation of playing a mod... Now a new game is coming out, based on the mod... Please Take my money!!! I mean, hopefully its not toooo expensive. But, they should get paid to do the work. And, perhaps with a bigger budget, they can add better things in to the game. Like a hatchet, that doesn't sound like a pistol?\

    Spawn with a hatchet?

The problem here is that people aren't thinking about the design of the game. You don't need a weapon to defend yourself. You don't need to kill zombies. Killing them is pointless. And if you aren't good at running away from zombies, you are going to die in the zombie apocalypse anyway. This isn't a little kids game. ANd I know games on the wii that are tougher to learn than dayz. People are lazy. (that rhymes) Truth be told. I was attracted to the game by the stories of starting with nothing. So i, dont see any reason in complaining or making it newbie friendly or anything.; Those were the things i signed up for. Now if someone is running around promoting this game as a Left for Dead wanna be... then yes, new players will be unaware, and perhaps upset. My only complaint is that I get too attatched to my gear. And I refrain from playing, because I don't wanna die. Perhaps after I become a bandit, I won't mind as much.
  12. I have recently just started playing Day Z, and while this is my characters 3rd life, i spawned here in Novy Sabor. Now, I agree with the original poster. After my n00bie learning of the game in my first 2 lives, spawning at the beach, I foudn this spawn to be incredible. I saw a church and I rememberd the church in Electro or Cherno whatever. So I knew there was good loot. I found SO much loot (or at least what I thought to be sweet loot) so i got on mumble told my buddies. But I had no idea where i was. I was telling them about my aweseome loot and how i couldn't carry it all, an they needed to visit. I remember seeing the word Starry, and my buddy said "NO! NOT EVER GOING THERE" and I was like "Whatever, I got this loot." His response was "Good luck getting out of there alive!" I didn't listen to him, and havent even tried to leave yet. I searched Both brick buildings, and the farm house, and the little hangar thing barn. I had so much loot, then I found the water, and practiced fillling water bottles. I also happened to stumble onto a makarov, when i already had the m1911. I tried to empty my pack and put the m1911 in it, so i could grab the makarov... i ended up dropping the m1911, and then picking up the makarov, and both dissapeared. It was odd. I disconnected and relogged and was back in the church, with my 1911. But there was no loot in the church, so i went back to the brick buildings and came back to the church, and found a tent. This was all last night. I was so stoked to be able to choose between what weapons/ammo i wanted, and all the beans and soda... But I haven't seen a single player yet, which im thankful for. So here are my questions for you guys... 1. Should I enjoy playing around this city... try to make it my home... and then venture over to starry... where its dangerous (i have yet to kill a human player yet) 2. Should I just try to get my friends here, and then we GTFO with the lootz? 3. Or what... I think about the endless amounts of loot i could have, and then think about what to do... Im not sure.. But its fun. Until you get that skyrim (over encumbered) feeling 4. Can anyone explain an easier way to switch out, or store weapons in packs.. im thinking i am missing out on a fundamental part of the 'gear' factor in this game.. I sometimes click the button and my guy will pick up cans but leave anything else on the ground, as well as, sometimes things auto goto my pack and some times they just disappear... In case you didn't want to read all that... I love that spawn, and yes I was scared spawning into the wall of a building... but its been a fun ride in Novy Sabor. I don't wanna leave.

To The Guy on US AZ3

I do wish that it was I... Who combat logged. Just so that I could post "HAHAHA n00b. I didn't bleed out, but i have all your loot now!!!" Alas. I don't combat-log. But just judging by the sheer size of the game of DayZ. I doubt your attacker, will ever read this site. And if he does... he'll just be laughing...
