No proof of ghosting. Hypocritical. Who cares.

Never got why it helped with hunger! Is that a glitch or by design?

An idea for Green Mountain, and some background. [warning, reading involved!]
AnarchyBrownies replied to Stiptikspec's topic in General Discussion
Oh no it's not too much! In fact, if you're going to write a long post on the forums but want lots of people to read it, it's a good amount to be considered "a lot." I don't mind reading really long posts, as long as the topic interests me. Green Mountain is the perfect place to complement DayZ Community folklore with an easter egg or two. Developing the whole mountain (maybe to include a whole underground facility!) would be fantastic. It's the one area I think it would be okay to break traditional DayZ style immersion and add a few mysterious horror features (sounds, creatures). -

Haha the first thing I was going to do when I got in here was say something along the lines of "You should have warned us you were writing a novel," but ryzoh's got it covered. Sounds like a good start though! If they don't do something special with Green Mountain by the time the full release happens, I'll be disappointed :( -
"Everyone's doing it so it's okay that I do it." Good defense! I think our particular conversation is over, you've got the maturity of a 5 year old. There's nothing I or anyone else can do to penetrate a thick skull like that or prevent you from behaving a certain way in game. It's the exact same as hacking by the way. You're ruining the experience for others and justifying it by saying there's simply an opportunity to exploit the game so it's not your problem/ or that you're selfish and just don't care.
-
Wow. Sore loser much? Well, I can't control it obviously but playing the game that way ruins it for everyone else. If you don't like being engaged by other players then maybe you shouldn't be playing. Obviously cowardly ditching a server at the first sign of danger ruins the game for people, especially when it becomes normal enough that anyone can casually proclaim it on the game's forums. It's a game but that demonstrates such a minimal amount of integrity and dignity, that you happily ruin the experience for others because you can't stand any interaction where you MAY come out as the loser.
-
So rather than escaping the area, you escape the server? Finding cover is NOT escaping. The engagement is still on. I don't think it's hard to understand at all. I was giving you a chance to say you weren't that much of a coward. That would put you in the exact same mold as the people the OP is talking about.
-
...You're saying you run for cover and then log out and move? But without shooting people... please tell me I'm misunderstanding your post.
-
That's a more effective strategy than most people take... but you could just play the game expecting to die as well. That's how I play. I'll make a trek up North for over an hour with the full understanding that I will most likely die before I log out.

Same! Also, there is a place to report bugs. Don't bother here. http://feedback.dayzgame.com/login_page.php?return=%2Fview_all_bug_page.php

I'm crossing my fingers for 1984/Animal Farm/Burmese Days by George Orwell. Haven't found any of them yet. I doubt they're in the game :( I'm writing all the books down that I find and when they start implementing base building or something along those lines I'm going to start collecting all the books whose titles I've written down. I thought it would be a fun little scavenger hunt (NO SUCH THING AS END GAME!). I'm going to start a thread about it one of these days and maybe collaborate with others to get as many books as possible on my list.

Nope, you could just as easily avoid people. But things like turning your back on the player may be considered a mistake. Perhaps you can change your tactics. I'm not saying you should avoid killing people either, you may come across people you find really sketchy even after you make contact with them. Just read into situations more and develop strategies that make you safer during player to player interactions.
-
Whoa, sensitive topic! Let's not get personal, I didn't do anything to you :(
-
Haha what a cry baby reaction to the situation and response to that post. You're right. Have fun. But if you approach things in this petty, immature manner, it's almost guaranteed you're not going to have fun in the long run. The negative consequences of that attitude apply to way more than the game and forums too.

So far I've had mixed experiences, but overall they're the best I've had even with the mod included. I've had people kill me on sight, people TRY to kill me on sight (I've run away successfully), I've had people force me to take off my pants or they'd kill me, I've had people cuff me up and rob me/trade me, I've had people who cornered me after shooting at me and then offer to let me go if I gave them my stuff (I opted to fight... I lost). It's going surprisingly well considering there hasn't been any real gameplay balancing yet.
-
You're contributing to a culture that is more likely to get you killed. You don't kill them and stay safe, you kill them and increase the likelihood that everyone that sees you (even when you have no idea they're there) will kill you. But hey, you can let your logic stop at "I kill them and I stay safe," if you want.

It looks like the chaos is half the fun!! I don't think I've ever been in a group that big. It is now on my to-do list.

"You're feeding him alcohol?" "Yeah :D" -
Yeah I've had this as well. Either that sound is being broadcast globally or it's a background sound that is way too similar. It's always quiet.

Kill on sight... my group is doing it now
AnarchyBrownies replied to Nariquo (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Yeah I would agree. Doing those things isn't as ambiguous as some would make it seem. They're just dick moves. -

Wow sandbox refers to how people log in/out and choose servers now? Why don't we keep stretching it... "You know, he logged out, went to his next door neighbour's house, and then shot the whole family. It's a sandbox, you know? We have to deal with it." Here's what I don't like about the whole "It's a sandbox" discussion- when people stretch it to things like combat logging (though this is the first time I've ever heard someone say that) and when people use it to justify playing only one way. Sandbox just refers to the fact that it's an open world and there are no goals. It is specific to in-game, not server hopping or combat logging, that has nothing to do with it. Those are just cheap moves done by people who are afraid to play the game. To relate the discussion to KoS, what you want to encourage out of a sandbox game is a variety of play styles. When people log on you don't want them thinking "I have to KoS because everyone else is." Then it's no longer open for the player to decide. You want encourage a mixture of styles so that players don't know what to expect when they encounter others and when they play the game in general. That's why KoS isn't a bad thing, but it definitely is when it's all everyone does. It completely restricts how everyone plays the game and it's no longer a sandbox. -
Massive Balota Battle Against Ghosters
AnarchyBrownies replied to Merrick362 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
200,000 people bought the game (last I heard). I'm pretty sure testing gear without server hopping won't be a problem. You think groups of people looking to gear up in 20 minutes and kill everything in sight are doing their darndest to report bugs and problems? My guess is they go for the same gear to do the only linear thing they do in the game. -

I've never understood this mentality of playing any game. If there is one group of people I want to wipe off the face of the Earth, it's the people who get genuine satisfaction out of personal "accomplishments" they didn't earn. -
http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=2264 Check that report out. I up-voted it as I think it's the one we're after.
