    E3 Expo - June 2013 - Interviews and Gameplay

Agreed. For anything that might slow you down I don't think it should be one speed or the other (run super fast or walk super slowly). There should just be consequences. You're going to get tired faster if you run up a steep hill. You should gradually lose speed or it should take a toll on how often you need to eat or drink (or both!). Anyways, not too concerned about it, just thought I'd bring it up.

    E3 Expo - June 2013 - Interviews and Gameplay

I don't like the whole walking up stairs thing. Even in real life in non-stressful situations I run up stairs, let alone if someone is potentially chasing me. Have I just missed people running up stairs or are they always walking?

Good post, Grief. Rocket also stated something along these lines in one of the interviews.

"6 months after the initial release date..." *facepalm*

    E3 and our attendance

Yeah that is very weird. I want them running inside. I think most people do. The only glitch I see so far that would make playing the alpha annoying is the whole hitting you when they aren't near you thing. I'll play it in any state though to provide some feedback.

I haven't seen people complaining about zeds indoors. I thought it was made clear a long time ago they were going to do that.

    E3 and our attendance

Also, Rocket says in the interview video that all the items are spawning at a high rate. I presume this is so when they demonstrate the game they can show everything off. So motorcycle helmets are everywhere, but so is everything else. Also I think I've seen videos with multiple baseball caps. For any more points, read Bribase's concise and accurate post above. That really should be all you need.

    E3 and our attendance

Yeah, not really getting that. It's been emphasized multiple times by the developers and community that you shouldn't expect a hell of a lot from the alpha. I hope once it comes out that the developers are able to sift through all the bitching and moaning to find some critical feedback. People point things out and complain about it, rather than point it out with a tone that acknowledges the fact that many of these glitches and animations and everything else will be fine tuned and changed over the next few months and into next year.

Agreed. Good point. Watch JasonMiddleEasy's video: before the Standalone Debut one with Matt:

    E3 and our attendance

I just watched the interview video that JasonMiddleEasy posted (good video by the way, well done interview!), and it seems that Rocket acknowledges that damage/animation being out of sync is a glitch.

As a few people have mentioned, it is a big problem that the Zeds "hit" you when they haven't even come close to making contact with you. If they're going to be that much faster then that definitely has to be fixed. It's ridiculous. Other than that, it looks like they have some minor glitches to work out and then this thing should be good to go! But I will be incredibly frustrated if the Zeds regularly do damage to you when they're 20 feet away.

What do you mean? It's closed right now. But the idea is to release a playable alpha to the general public is it not?

So if they have a playable Alpha for E3, why can they not release it? What is the wait for? There could be a very good reason, I'm just curious. Plus the more limited the game is (as long as it's functional), the less people will buy it at first, which seems to be what they want. I'm happy with running away from zombies with limited weapons and gear available.

The radio broadcasters should have to submit their home addresses as well, in order to give everyone a realistic chance of murdering them while they're broadcasting from their homes. Edit: I'd like to add that this radio thing is beginning to sound really cool. I hope it goes over well.

I've decided I'm not happy with the colour of that guy's pants in the picture. What is that, puke green? And you can't even tell what the material is. Completely stupid. If this is what the standalone is going to be I'm not going to buy it.

Are you guys talking about the really old build being leaked or the version as of now being leaked? Because they already addressed that a super old version (before Rocket went to Everest) was leaked.

Haha I'm ok with turning some people off at first if people do consider waiting. Rocket seems to want it to be that way, I don't mind having a smaller community at first, and it looks like we're all in agreement that people will buy the game eventually anyways. Win, Win, Win. EDIT: To terrorviktor... I'm not sure if he has said anything about that, but I'm guessing the answer will be something along the lines of "later on." I've never played a game at alpha so it's weird to think that anyone's opinion could be considered and the things you mentioned are all good ideas. But I definitely think that sort of thing won't be implemented until later on.

I don't disagree with this at all! I can see how it would be harder in cars... but given the fact that I didn't use them all that often, perhaps you can enlighten me on one bit of context. Vehicles were mostly threatened by powerful weapons were they not? And powerful weapons were also something that became proliferated. But I mean if there aren't as many powerful weapons in the game, and ammo is more scarce, are people going to be going on the offensive on moving vehicles as much? In other words, will they be bullet magnets or something that people hide from or just ignore? Beyond that question though I completely agree with your post. Even for someone like me who navigated on foot it was exciting to see a vehicle because that usually meant that person was more of a threat. It meant they were probably more advanced than me as far as the weapons they had in order to stay alive long enough to find all the parts a car needed, or they were in a group, or both. (Although it could have just been that someone came across a completely healthy car and went bombing around for a while). The group dynamic of getting a vehicle together is an excellent reason for them to be in the game. Either way, I definitely think they need to be there at some point... but to not buy the game because they aren't there at first is a tad ridiculous. It's a rather narrow minded reason considering how wide open this game is as far as what you can do.

I don't know how common or rare my opinion is but I could care less about vehicles in the game. I'd like them in at some point, but I'd be quite happy with a bare bones survival experience. It's much more difficult to navigate the game on foot than in a vehicle. In the mod I almost never used vehicles. I found it more exciting. That's just me though! I definitely want to see them at some point but if people aren't buying the game because vehicles aren't in it then people are buying the game for the WROOOONG reasons I think. I think a lot of people are forgetting that when DayZ first came out, vehicles were fairly uncommon. Like you didn't see them or come across them all that often. I never played any other mods of DayZ but I think eventually vehicles became proliferated on a lot of servers. But for the first while that DayZ was played, the main focus was hardly on vehicles or even helicopter crash sites. I'm happy with the game returning to that for a little while, especially considering that zombies are more of a threat!

Let me just clarify I wasn't serious! Nor do I care whether he writes "is" or "are" or "peaches"... In fact "No DevBlog this week but here peaches some screenshots" would have made me happy. And to add, I think the game is going to be F for Fcuking Amazing title, as you suggested. I can already feel my addiction starting. And in response to Fraggle... If I think about the fact that he doesn't wear a suit, I start to cry. So don't even get me started.

"No DevBlog this week but here is some screens" should actually be: "No DevBlog this week but here ARE some screens." This is exactly why this game is going to be an F title. No consideration for simple things like grammar. Negative inventory comment. Negative map comment. Negative graphics comment. [insert advice on better engine option here].

I'm confused... people come here to post because they hate the game?? I'm afraid I don't understand this. It's one thing to stumble across something and write a comment about not liking it. It's another to keep coming back and saying how much you don't like it. That's kind of weird. Anyways, trying not to think about DayZ too much or else it will feel like forever until it's ready. I'm guessing it's close though. I'm also guessing that before E3 is absolutely not going to happen.

DayZ Double Developer Blog 14th May 2013

It could be that there are just not enough people checking the forums. It may be low traffic here. Whereas twitter and reddit may have a lot of traffic and generally it's not expected that you have to write so much. It's just faster and gets the messages out to more people.

Alrighty well that's exciting to hear. The most difficult part seems to be handled. Hopefully any bugs like that continue to be minor and we should see the alpha ready quite soon! *fingers crossed* #nosolidexpectations #patience
