Definitely don't regret bailing out of these development talks. The discussion literally has not changed since like March. -

I can get the mod to run at a constant 60 as long as I'm not in big cities. I'm quite interested in the answer to this question. If the big cities can sit consistently even in the mid 40s or somewhere in the 50s I'll be happy. -

People have ridiculous expectations. You can tell they still have a lot of work to do. They haven't even implemented the Minecraft graficks yet! Nor have they gone over how they're going to incorporate classes and class customization. A game without "steady aim" and "lightweight" isn't a game. EDIT: Now greedy Rocket shows up to tell us not to buy the game again. Not falling for that shit, Rocket. I'll give you my credit card number right now, I swear to god. -
August Round-up: DevBlog, #DayZDaily, Gamescom
AnarchyBrownies replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I think you're taking a reasonable stance on this. I, for one, am totally lost as to how something that seemed weeks away I now feel is months away. I've adamantly argued for people to be patient and I've relentlessly supported the team having no release date... but like back at E3 or wherever it was it was almost laughable for Rocket to think the game would take more than two months before an alpha could be released. The vibe I'm getting now is it could take much longer. Release went from imminent- just have to get rid of some game breaking bugs- to game release completely unknown because we always have new game breaking bugs that make the game unplayable. Someone please correct me and clarify the current state of development. The devblog just confused me as to how such a big step back has taken place. I'll always be able to patiently wait for release but now I feel there isn't even a window for release, even a big one (and the window of possibility has always been big!). EDIT: And I also would like to add that I'm also completely lost as to how we got a video of new zombie tracking back in March and how much better it was already, to zombies are 0% complete. -
I'm quite mad that you said that... stupidhead.
-
At first I thought you were just frustrated with SoulHunter, but clearly you're just arrogant and suffer from the same issue you claim SoulHunter has, which is not taking the time to read. The point I was making is you're getting so angry over a simple comment made by someone about a GAME. It's not like your example where being called a Nazi is a lot more serious and worth getting defensive and upset over. I'm well aware of what a simile is but I think that you've maybe focused too much on poetic devices such as that, at the expense of basic comprehension. As for being on topic, was it officially said that the devblog would be released tomorrow or are we all just hopeful?
-
You've been hostile about his response from the beginning. Even if he put words in your mouth, just clarify. The words he put into your mouth were that you wanted or expected shitty zombies... in a game. Using your example, he's not tarnishing your reputation by calling you a Nazi or anything. This has carried on for 2 pages and it was over some unimportant comment, which even I thought was a weird response and it wasn't my conversation. Not holding this episode against anyone but I think it's safe to drop it now.
-
You are a very happy person.

I was confused by that response as well. WarZ is an anomaly and it was a notoriously bad game with a lot of issues. It's a bad example to prove the point that you shouldn't expect good Zombies in a Zombie game because WarZ had bad zombies. I would never say DayZ (or any future zombie game) could likely have bad zombies because WarZ did so that proves that they can. You can't use the exception as the rule. It makes complete sense for anyone to say DayZ is a zombie game therefore it should have good zombies. Edit: Fact. I said zombie 7 times in that post.

Tell us the truth. It's hidden because it has the Standalone release date doesn't it? No more lies, Fraggle.

9/11 was an inside job.

You should begin each of your posts with: <'gooogle translation'> (It's customary). And to answer your question, I'm not sure how big the improvement will be but yes I've heard that they've optimized the game to run a little better! You shouldn't have to struggle to make it run smoothly anymore. That being said, who knows what will happen with the alpha! Eventually, however, I think the plan is to get it to run at a nice steady FPS rate. I'm sure someone will come in and answer your question a little better than me! :)

Yeah it's pretty cool, they actually decided to revolutionize game development with DayZ and initially they released it as a standalone. Then they released the fully developed mod, followed by the DayZ mod beta. Finally, we've arrived at the alpha of the mod. It was very special to be a part of such a unique form of development. It's called degradation development. -

Fair enough, but I have a question. If people misinterpret a comment by Dean saying they have a date set and they`re looking at a window of about a week, what does PR do about that? Or is Dean no longer allowed to speak? To me, PR is about image and selling the product. If the company hasn`t compromised its image, which I don`t think it has in any way at all, and it has confidence it`s going to sell, what role does PR play? -

So your point: They need to spend money on professional PR because people overreact and over-analyze very brief videos and simple information. Oooooookay. It's not their problem, it's the problem of people who lack patience and would rather react before more information comes out. The syncing is a good example. Anyone could have looked and thought that looked kind of rough. I definitely did. In no way did I panic and freak out though. Sure enough, Dean clarified the issue soon after the video came out. No harm done. Just because people lose their minds over certain things doesn't mean it was mishandled. Trust me, they don't care if a few people like to whine about the information they think they should get. This game is going to sell regardless of what they do and don't tell you about development during pre-alpha release. ^And what St. Jimmy said. People shitting their pants really don't matter. I'd be happy to have them lose faith and not play the game. The developers aren't going to get constructive feedback from these people anyways. They don't need pants shitting overreaction. -

Oh yeah I completely agree. Those things actually gave it character oddly enough. It sort of formed the community and even today I think people have a good time joking about the quirky glitches of the DayZ mod. But when I started playing the mod there were no massive crashes and the artifacting got so bad I stopped playing for a bit. So I think the hope is that the standalone is released without anything too massive, while understanding the reality that anything can happen. -

AnarchyBrownies replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Don't try to twist it like that (someone else brought up the "release date"), he was referring to people bringing it up because they still don't understand what happened back in December and how stupid that is. You're bringing it up as though there was some massive let down and we're still waiting 7 months later for that to be reconciled. Think of them as two completely different projects. The December release date has NOTHING to do with the DayZ Standalone as they're pursuing it now. It's completely irrelevant. I disagree that it has been a PR disaster or any sort of disaster. Sales would be a reflection of that as well would it not?? If you're selling lots of games, you're doing something right. Better than something like Call of Duty where the game is shit but the PR is brilliant. -

Well, to be fair Ripred at least acknowledges that he expects it to be not so good. Which is a good thing because a lot of people seem to think otherwise. But I think it needs to be at least playable for a full public release, which is what they're going for. -

You want a game that just crashes because of some random action you do? Because my understanding is they've been working out some pretty nasty crashes the last couple weeks. -

AnarchyBrownies replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
He missed it because they weren't just revamping the mod, they decided to rebuild the engine. They decided to go in a whole new direction. To me, that means the December date no longer applies. THAT'S what liquidmind is saying and he's right. The December date was for a "different" DayZ SA. Since then there have been no delays or stretches. They said they'd re-evaluate in June, they did that. At E3 they said no longer than 2 months and we're inside of two months. To me, that's discussion over. I don't know why the same thing has to be said 100 times a day. This makes sense to a significant portion of the DayZ population, I still don't know why you're lost on that. <----------EDIT: Maybe you aren't but you just think it's significant to talk about that missed release date a lot?? And Dean explained his reasoning for no PR just last night. Go back and read it. Back in December, I think he felt like things were a disaster and not looking so great. Now, I think he's happy. It's the insane obsessive people waiting for the game who are making it "disastrous" because they're making things up that he has clarified over and over and over again. PR doesn't magically make people understand things when it's been made clear plenty of times. And really, nothing is wrong. Everything is going smoothly from what everyone has been told. People just can't read very well, again as liquidmind pointed out. -
