Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

The 5600k is suprisingly a really good performer and is a little faster than the 3870k. I helped a friend build a PC not so long ago he got a 5600k and crossfired it with a 6670 gpu (you are getting 7850 so you can't crossfire but you will get a much better performance anyhow). He plays dayz at 1080p on medium settings at 40+ FPS with AA on low.

The x4 940 is still a decent CPU and should be more than enough for DayZ.I use to have x4 965 and played DayZ fine and there is not much difference between the 940 and 965. It is the GPU that is the problem. Consider maybe the 7770 or 7790?

This is a good setup but I would would slap in a 7750 GPU to crossfire APU to get the best performance on the cheap.

    Downloading DayZ on steam?

Nope just a lot easier if you have Steam version of Arma.

Just to add to the systems I found. Ebuyer are also selling a ivy bridge Pentium desktop with 6gb ram and windows 7. All that it needs is a GPU. http://www.ebuyer.com/519868-zoostorm-desktop-pc-7873-0461 so if I where you I would buy that (if your in the UK). Slap in a cheap 6670 (dabs.com sell 6670 for £43 I think) and you have your self a decent gaming pc for a little over £300. It is also upgradable so you can slap in a ivy bridge i5 in there in the future without changing motherboards.

Ok first off are you in the UK? If so then I know of 2 PC's for you that will suit you need. Both are pre built but both require a GPU and a OS. Meaning both are a little bit over £300. First one I found is this APU system. http://www.ebuyer.com/504520-zoostorm-desktop-pc-7873-1082 £269.99 but £20 cash back so really £249.99. Then get a 6670 to crossfire with the APU cost £50 http://www.ebuyer.com/481932-xfx-radeon-hd-6670-graphics-card-2gb-ddr3-pci-express-2-1-hdmi-dual-link-hd-667x-cnf2 so that is £300 after cash back. Then you need a Windows OS you can get a genuine windows XP for about £15 on ebay so your looking at £320 for that system. Not amazing but it will run dayz and other games at low/medium and playable frame rate. Second system is more upgradable in the future. i3 ivy bridge cpu 1tb hard drive 8gb ram. But again needs windows and gpu. I would go for the 6670 again (not amazing card but will do) and a £15 windows xp from ebay total will come to £330. But this one is more upgradable. You can slap in a i5 sometime down the line in this system and a better GPU. But if you do plan on upgrading in future you will need a better PSU. http://www.ebuyer.com/519887-zoostorm-desktop-pc-7873-1092
  7. Am not sure if it has been suggested before. But has make shift traps been suggested? Like a make shift nail bomb or some trip wire and spikes? Not only will small things like this help protect a camp you have made. It can also be used to kill animals for food or even take out of a few zombies that you can't shake off.

Decent built there. Should get 45+ on medium. I just got the same CPU today on the cheap and built a spare pc with a 7850 gpu and 4gb ram 1333mhz. I had mine at 1080p on very high settings with shadows set to normal and post process off. I was getting 45-50 on average and about 30-35 in cities.

I would say yes but I am unsure about it on medium. Low it will be fine but medium maybe with around 30 fps but that is just a guess. I would personally buy a cheap graphics card to go with it like a 7770 or 7790.

They do and I much prefer it this way. As in most FPS games the guns take up more space on the screen than they need to.

I think the SA will be more optimized than Arma 2 so hopefully will be getting frames.

Ahh sorry I assumed you where building from scratch, The 6600k APU is a decent CPU/GPU combo. The 7770 is fine but not great. But you will be able to play DayZ at medium/high with around 30 FPS in the big cities and about 40-50 everywhere else. If your happy with them FPS then the system is absolutely fine. You may have to lower AA down to low.

Tip for you I take it your in the UK? Use Flubit.com they get you the cheapest price for everything, If I where you I would get a FX 6300 CPU about £80. Also a 7790 or a 7850 7790 can be had for around £95 and 7850 can be had for around £120.

I take it you want a pre built system? If so then go to dinopc.com and click on customize your way. If you want a PC that is good for DayZ and other titles for under £500 then select AMD 970 chipset. AMD FX 6300 Black Edition Windows 7 64bit 8gb DDR3 1333mhz ram 500gb hard drive AMD 7790 1gb Leave everything else as it is and the total is £488 built and delivered with 3 years warranty. That PC is decent for gaming but not the best. If you want to spend just under £1000 for the PC then. Intel Z87 Chipset i5 4670k Corsair H60 Water cooler Windows 7 65bit 8gb 1600mhz RAM 2tb hard drive GTX 770 Zalman z11 case Leave everything the same and should come to £986 built and delivered with 3 years warranty. Since the budget was £1000 I could not add a SSD or faster RAM. Buying the parts your self and building the PC your self is much more fun you will feel good about it and save a decent amount of money.

    Where are all the devblogs?

I can't remember that? Sounds like typical journalists twisting words to get hits.

    Storing gear in vehicles

If it has not been stolen by then. I believe it will stay there for 7 days (no in game). Unless you get in the car and it will reset the timer.

    1 month in Dayz

I have been playing DayZ Breaking point. Pretty much same as vanilla dayz but so much better sound effects. Better zombies and zombie dogs and blood suckers. Plus new weapons which are really good.

Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

I use to run DayZ when I had a i3 550. But mine had a 1gb 9800gt. I was running it fine at medium settings at 1080p. Not sure how much difference there is between a 9500gt and a 9800gt (mine was a green edition 9800gt low power). So am gonna go out on the limb here and say yes it will run fine at low. But if you want a cheap upgrade then dabs.co.uk (assuming your from the UK) have a 1gb 6670 which comes with a free copy of Far Cry 3 for £43.99. The 6670 is not the greatest card in the world but it is fine for DayZ. http://www.dabs.com/products/xfx-amd-radeon-6670-hd-1gb-pci-express-hdmi-8K0P.html

Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

I was going to suggest the 6800k. I have not read all that much about them just yet. I have only read 3 or 4 reviews at the moment and 2 of them say it is a improvement but not to much for the extra money in this case £20. If people can get one between £100-£110 then sure go for the 6800k. Another suggestion for the 5800k is you can crossfire it with a cheap £40 6670 for better performance. Am not sure how good the performance will be. But I can vouch for the 6670. I had this card for about 9 months last year. I had this card when I first started playing Dayz. I was playing in 1080p on high settings (no AA low shadows) with 40+ FPS. I would imagine crossfiring a 6670 with the 5800k will give you the same performance of a 7750 maybe a little bit better.

Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

Thought I would make a post for people on a extremely tight budget. Here is a spec I helped a friend build a few weeks back for the money he is extremely pleased with it. CPU: AMD A10-5800k CPU (its a CPU with built in graphics) very good for the price. Price is £100 but places like Amazon have it for £96. Motherboard: AsRock FM2A55M-DGS (its cheap and does the job) £41 at amazon. RAM: 4gb Kingston KVR16N11S8/4 1600mhz (its cheap and does the job £26 at amazon. PSU: 500w Coolermaster Elite (more than enough for this build) £30 at amazon. Hard Drive: Any 3.5 Sata hard drives will do. Amazon sell 320gb for around £22. Case: Any case will do so lets say £15 DVD drive Any SATA drive will do £13 So for that build your looking at around £245 for that build. My friends was cheaper since he all ready had a spare hdd and dvd drive. He is currently playing DayZ at a decent FPS at 1080p on medium settings with no dedicated hard drive. He has ordered a 7850 which will help the system out a lot. But that current build will be fine for most games at decent settings at 1080p or 720p. Again adding a dedicated graphics card will be a massive improvement . Even putting in a £100 7790 will be a great choice. If you don't have the money right now again this build alone will be fine. So you can always get a cheap graphics card later on. Please note: You will also need a OS. If you want to go Windows then if you really want to be cheap then ebay sellers sell OEM Windows XP (legit) for £16 or windows 7 for around £40.
