Quick question on behalf of a friend. He recently just got his internet back after a long time and has downloaded DayZ. He is playing at resolution below 720p (sorry forgot what resolution) with pretty much everything set to low and AA disabled. He gets around 30FPS sometimes but gets below 30FPS most of the time. His PC is not that good but he is upgrading each part over the next month. He has 8gb ddr3 1333mhz ram so that is fine. His CPU is a Core 2 Quad 2.3ghz I think. This CPU is old now and am not entirely sure if this is good enough for dayz. His graphics is a old GT 440 which is not that good. Anyhow as I said he is upgrading both graphics and CPU. What would be best to upgrade first CPU or GPU? He knows what CPU and graphics he is getting so no need for recommendations. Am thinking his CPU might be best upgraded first? Am sure its his CPU at the moment which is giving him low FPS. I know his GPU is not that good but I would of thought it would of been fine with everything set to low? So yer what should he upgrade first CPU or graphics? Thanks.

I honestly doubt it. Try downloading Arma 2 Free Edition and see how that runs?

All are fine parts you will have no trouble running dayz with that. 7850 is a excellent choice.

Well sure the 7750 is still ok I guess. But the better 7770 is cheaper with free games and a mouse at dabs for under £86 delivered.

Everything there is fine except for the 8600gt as its a 5 year old graphics card now. The 4 core 4130 is fine but the 6 core 6300 can be had for pretty much the same price now. If you can find that for the same price then get that. For graphics card get at least a gtx 650 ti boost or a 7770. FX 6300 £91 Amazon ATI 7770 Graphics Card £85 that comes with Far Cry 3 and Sleeping Dogs and a Zalman gaming mouse. Sure its not the greatest graphics card in the world but it will be fine for dayz. Plus so so so much better than the 8600gt.

Hello, I will try and explain this as best as I can. Ok so last week I joined a official dayz server. I started out on the coast like everyone else. I got looted up and made my way north. I stopped in a tree line and quit dayz for the night. I logged on the same server the next day. But I was not in the spot I logged out of. I was in a field I was at about 5 minutes before I logged out. So I thought noting off it and I was on my way. I found a ATV and a tent so I decided to make a small camp. Logged out in my camp for the night. Next day I logged into the same server again I was not not there I logged out I was where I found the ATV and tent. But the ATV and tent was not there. So I went to where I left the ATV and tent and they where not there. So I was a little annoyed. I thought the admins where cheating and rolling back the server or something. So I decided to leave the server and join another offical server. Logged into a new server with all my loot still with me. So I set of to find a another tent and make a camp. Found a tent and put evrything inside except for my DMR and food. Logged out and again I was not in the same spot I was logged out I was in the small village I was where I found my tent. So I decided to join a different region server but still official. DRM is still with me thank god. So again I set out to build a camp AGAIN!. So I got some supplies and managed to find a car. Fixed it up and set my camp up. Put all my loot in the car and logged out for the night. Logged back in and I logged back in where I logged out with my car still there priase the lord. So this server was good to me until today. I logged in sniper in hand same spot as I logged off but some of the loot in my backpack had been changed. When I logged out I had a car wheel in my backpack. But when I logged in I had a CZ Sniper and some food. Which I did have in my backpack about 3 days ago. Went back to my camp and my car is still there but all the loot I found over the last few days where gone and the loot I had 3 days ago was there. Is this happening to anyone else? I can't of joined 3 servers in a row where the admins have a habit of rolling back the servers. Its verry annoying and at the moment it seems a bit pointless to even play the original Dayz.

I do from time to time. But I like building up little camps. So if it gets dark and I have no night vision I can simply join another server that is day time and still have my loot on me.

Hi I am asking this on behalf of a friend. He is building his firsr gaming PC very soon. He wants to play DayZ. Anyhow I have Arma CO via Steam and DayZ mod via steam as well. But I have a boxed copy of Arma 2 as well. So I have told my friend he can have that so all he needs to buy is Operation Arrowhead. My question is: Is is possible to install DayZ with a boxed copy of Arma 2 and a Steam version of Operation Arrowhead? I am guessing it is fine but I just want to make sure. If it can be done is this the correct way to do it. 1, Install Arma 2 disk version. 2, Download and install the latest Arma 2 patch 3, Download and install the lastest Arma 2 BETA patch 4, Launch Arma 2 then quit back to desktop 5, Install Operation Arrowhead via Steam 6, Launch Operation Arrowhead then quit back to desktop 7, Download and install DayZ via Steam 8, Play or Download and install DayZcommander as its much easier to find the server you want.

Leave it like that if you wish or add a 1tb hard drive and maybe upgrade the 7850 to a 7950?

I only found out about this mod recently. Simple to install and I must say it is much better than the original DayZ. Don't get me wrong DayZ original is still fantastic to play. DayZ Breaking Point its just pretty much the same but with better sound effects. The zombies look better and scarier. The new weapons are really good (the tasor is halerious when used on other players). Some neat extras in there as well. Like on the way to Cherno (coming from Bolota) there was a car pileup on the road.

Not sure about detection but I found out a few days ago. If you use the in game voice chat that also alerts zombies.

If you want my advice. Don't trust anyone right away. If you see someone with any type of weapon just stay clear of them. Or if you can get clost enough without them seeing you ask if there friendly if no responce then again just stay clear of them. If they do say there friendly then well then go with your gut. If you believe they are friendly then see if they will team up or what not. If not and they kill you then lesson learnt. Also you are going to die in this game. So do not get to comfitable with your loot. Sooner or later you will lose it all.

Out of curosity what is the spec of the PC your getting?

You can also just download Arma 2 Free Edition and just buy OA if you only want to play DayZ. Doing it this way will not give you HD graphics but its cheaper.

Since the last update when they cleared out all the unnecessary files out. DayZ runs a lot better than Arma 2 does on my PC.

Lol I use this to bait people in. For example ill write on the map Car here needs fuel and 1 wheel. I will then wait until someone comes to check it out. If a bandit turns up ill kill them. If a survivor turns up. It depends what gun they have.

Am sure this question has been answered/asked before so I am sorry if it as. I am most likely going to get a lecture here but I think it will benefit DayZ. Will DayZ standalone have controller support like the Xbox 360 controller. Pretty much all the latest games suppose the Xbox 360 controller and Steam are also promoting controller use with PC games. I am fine with keyboard and mouse. But a few of my console friends are looking into moving from console to PC. One of the main concerns they have is getting use to play Keyboard and mouse. I have assured them that there is plenty of games on the PC that support the Xbox controller. But most of them really want to play DayZ. I know there is a advantage with keyboard and mouse but in my experience this is very low. So am hoping DayZ SA will support Xbox controller am fine with it not being on top of there list to implant at the moment but I would like to see it implanted at one point. Grab them console players by the balls and pull them towards PC gaming.

This was annoying in the mod. Especially when it came to the tractor. You only had to do a little bump into the tree or even scrape the paint work and you will fall out of it bleeding to death and the tractor will then explode.
