Is KOS really that big of a problem?
maxim_pl replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Address Alt+F4 and server hopping. That is all. -
New TAKISTAN MAP! - 216.244.84.218:2352
maxim_pl replied to FlatFeet's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yes, please upload 1.2 somewhere. DayZ Commander always cancels download at 76%. Every effin' time. I tried updating/re-installing everything even remotely connected to this evil program but nothing helped :/ -
Well, there might be also the fact that DayZ community is regarded as one of the worst out there, righ behind CoD kiddies. Nobody likes assholes and many, many DayZ players work very hard to give us all that label.

Humanity should reset at death
maxim_pl replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Humanity reset after death would defeat it's purpose. You've made your choice. Be glad that that banditry is an acceptable way of playing this game and the only punishment is the towel on your head. You're tired of being KoS'ed and not bein able to doublecross others as easy as before? Well, that's karma for you. You can always go back, even at -1kk humanity. I've seen that happen. -
Sweeet. I grw tired of the german Lingor map. Add vehicles and it's gonna own ;]

LOL Sometimes I think snipers are just terrible players
maxim_pl replied to Jackftw's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's delicious!Back on the topic: Yeah, it's not that snipers are bad players, but bad players are usually snip... I mean campers. Good players go and do their shit, while sniping any threat that they see fit. Bad players just lie in the grass all day picking up noobs and/or unsuspecting players that can't return fire. -
3 days, 3 times dying for a cheater... only in DayZ.

How did your most recent character die?
maxim_pl replied to chris p. bacon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Got into the chopper, started the engine, died instantly with 20 other people on the server. Then we all danced a little, hopped like bunnies in debug planes... Fun times ;/ -
i'm new and i get killed by everyone, even when i say FRIENDLY PLAYER in the chat screen.
maxim_pl replied to Gert-Jan's topic in New Player Discussion
On a sidenote, please stop spewing nonsense about how it would be the same if real zombie apocalypse would occur. In real situation like this you wouldn't have metagaming, altF4ing, server hopping, lack of consequences for your actions and unlimited respawns for both you and your victims. Think once in a while and stop repeating random bullshit that some random keyboard warrior pulled out of his ass. This is just DayZ community being as bad as it can get thanks to safety of their anonymity and things I've mentioned above. -
Well, it's script kiddies extravaganza lately, so yeah...

You also forgot to mention that console games are at least twice as expensive as PC games and you don't have to pay for any services like XBL or PS+ (although PS+ is optional), which actually makes PC gaming much cheaper in the long run ^_^ Also, mouse > controller. It's not an opinion, it's a fact, so deal with it. I own PS3 and some other consoles including handhelds - I love them all and play the shit outta them, but FPS genre just don't belong to the consoles, unless it's dumbed down like hell.

Random server would be a good solution, but only if the spectator could not see any player names, even in lobby/by pressing P. Otherwise he could just spy for his clan/group and feed all the info over VOIP.

Somebody tried to unflip me like that yesterday and I went flying with the ATV. Somehow i survived, even though I was already preparing myself to visit the beach right after the fall :D

As I have posted before, there are three main reasons for the current situation: 1. Alt+F4 2. Server hopping 3. Metagaming Give people easy access to cheats and 9 out of 10 will use them - becasue it's internet and they feel entitled to be dicks. It's interesting to go on a private hive server and compare the situation. It's like a completely different community in the same exact game. When players character is tied to one place and they want to keep playing there, they start to think before they shoot because all the friends and eniemies they make will stay there with them. It's called consequence, something the official servers are not providing. Untill Rocket will find a right solution to AltF4ing and server hopping this games community will remain one of the worst out there (as it's perceived right now by pretty much anyone who tried DayZ). And all those arguments about people turning to their animal instincts during a situation like that are complete and utter bullshit. I've talked about this phenomenon for hours with two of my friends my friends (one of them is a sociologist and the other is a psychologist). If people could not metagame in DayZ and getting into a group or just finding friends (weather it be survivors or bandit friends) would require actual communication in-game, even those shoot-on-sight assholes would not be so quick to pull the trigger. If the "bullshitters theory" would be true, then human race would pretty much not survive up to this point. Middle ages or wild west would be the end of it (if not much-much sooner). We only survived that long because of people with common sense. They made first contact, didn't stab each other in the back, got organised and brought order (to the best of their ability). Sure, assholes and murders would still be in this game even if all the issues with DayZ community would be adressed, but it wouldn't be near as bad as it is today. It's up to Rocket to come up with a solution, because counting on people to get their heads out of their asses won't work outside of real life. tl;dr If you skipped right to this part, start treating your attention deficit disorder.

Why geared up players are hard to kill
maxim_pl replied to zmol's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
AlftF4 and server hopping is the main reason why there's so much mindless player killing going on. Once you'll try a private hive server you'll find many more friendly faces. It's a really simple mechanism - once a player gets tied to one server his actions sudenly have consequences. Friends stay friends and enemies stay enemies. It's the lack of persistence. @Hive is both the strongest and the gamebreaking element of DayZ. It's great to be able to pick up from where you left off on any servers, but it also allow people to pretty much... cheat. Yes, they bitch about hackers, but they are basically doing the same thing to an extent. If a game allows you to be a dick in any way, 90% of the gamers will take that opportunity. Keyboard warrior's paradise.
