Keeping Up To Date With Devs - They do have a twitter. https://twitter.com/dayzdevteam Forums is also a good way to stay on top of things. HIVE - Hive is the network the servers report to and draw from. Like a database for databases. Public Knowledge On Vehicle And Crash Site Spawning - There are a few maps I find resourceful. Try http://dayzdb.com/map for example. Going Standalone Will Reduce Hackers - Reduce? 100%, considering what going stand alone means. They have developed means of tracking it over the past few months. Prevention is in the pipeline. ETA for Standalone - Rocket has high hopes for by the end of the year. Easier To Manage A Server - I heard they planned on doing so somewhere but cant locate where. So I am not sure what to say here. Maybe?

I thought zombies had to walk when indoors.
wombraider replied to JamesR's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wouldn't be the first time I saw something that shouldn't happen in DayZ. -
To call people out like this in the forums...You certainly have the 3rd requirement for DayZ. Balls.

This may seem like a jerk question... Are you sure their weapons aren't silenced? All you hear is a crack or wizz. More info please! I'll try to help if I can.

Stealth doesnt sound like your thing. Switching to night time server will help substantially. Lowers the zombies ability to see you. Are you using prone? Checking corners and staying off the road? Grass is your friend!

DayZ: "Survive" (ArmA II: DayZ Trailer)
wombraider replied to BuddyMcFriend's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
So wheres the video? No beans until I see this bad boy!! -
Try a DayZ Sanctuary server. It is not on the Hive network and will set you with a fresh spawn. If you really want two accounts though consider looking up Sacriel's tutorial for two accounts. (This will cost you additional money)

In order of priority: - Resolution has the biggest impact on performance. If you don't mind everything looking a bit blocky, reduce your resolution whilst maintaining the same aspect ratio. For example, I have a 1920 x 1200 screen, so that's 16:10 ratio. If I were to reduce my resolution, 1280 x 800 would maintain the same aspect ratio, so the image wouldn't become deformed. - Anti-aliasing also kills performance on cards that lack sufficient bandwidth for it - mostly built-in graphics cards (Nvidia put M on the end of the model, AMD call them 'Mobility', e.g. GTX 460M and Radeon 5650 Mobility). Turn it off if you're having FPS problems. - Reduce the draw distance. It's intensive on the processor and the graphics card, no matter what model you have. - There's a huge amount of clutter in Arma 2, and everything has its own shadow (except grass). That's a lot of calculations to be done. Reduce the detail in shadows, especially if you're using a built-in graphics card. - Texture resolution will rarely affect performance now-a-days, unless you've got a graphics card with less than, say, 512 MB, and a very slow hard drive. Texture quality should be the last thing to be toned down if you're having performance problems.

1.7.2.5 Anyone heard from devs?
wombraider replied to Persason's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When in game try changing the video memory to high then back to default, it sometimes resolves the graphical issues. No word has been posted in reference to 1.7.2.5 but they are working hard on it for sure. Hopefully the trick will help with the issues until it is updated to 1.7.2.5 -
Have you tried adjusting the settings on the main menu rather than in-game?

Firstly, your name cracks me up. Secondly, I fully agree with this post. -
You wont lose your progress. When you desync from the server it will save your known location.

Why thank you! A feast is in order tonight!!

Saving Cars? And general Server question
wombraider replied to Lord Daem's topic in New Player Discussion
Using the scroll wheel you can elect to save your car or tent. Making sure the server has its contents and location of the save. Edit: Sorry, I just realized I missed an important question. The car/tent is server specific, so just incase you have some precious beans to store in that bad boy be sure to have the server name/info on hand somewhere. -
Try changing your video memory to high then back to default. This sometimes works. Keep in mind the next patch will be resolving most of these graphical issues.
-
Try changing your video memory settings to high then back to default. Sometimes this resolves the "Artifact" graphical glitches.

If it is all you talk it up to be you shall receive beans! The community could use something like this for the newer players in particular. The learning curve is fairly steep. I personally had a rugged start a few weeks ago. But the DayZ I know today is a whole new level of awesome as I researched and picked up on the many more important aspects of the game.

A Question directed to rocket.
wombraider replied to jaymurphy98@hotmail.co.uk's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
He stated in one of the interviews that going stand alone will hold many new additions and he will be trying to add enough to make it worth the additional money for the standalone. If I find the video I will post it. -
How to use Steam Overlay with Retail ArmA 2?
wombraider replied to Senatov (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
On steam add the game to your library by selecting games on the top (in steam) and add a non-steam game to your library. Rest is self-explainatory. Let me know if you have problems. -
Camo Clothing has never had such problems. Glad that relogging worked though. Did you put on the Camo Clothing again after and have the issue persist?
-
If you're using steam, verify the game cache. Then run Arma 2, then OA then CO and then it should work.
