i was riding in a chopper with a fella i had been grouping with for a good while and midflight he lagged out and i had to bail, after swimming for 20min and finally hit shore i got struck with every status ailment there is and died, i swam for 20min so i wouldnt lose the 2nd as50 ive ever had(i still havent killed anything with one). i didnt play dayz for over a week after that. edit: forgot to add that i got to my body not long after respawning and it had already been looted, it was left with a patrol pack and a can of beans

i completely disagree, if dayz only allows official servers then we wont get to see awesome mods for it either, and unless this game will be subscription based or they plan to pump out a shitload of dlcs every month then paying hundreds of game moderators instead of letting admins manage servers is gonna drain money real fast. but admins who run official servers should have to answer to official game moderators and not be able to run said servers as hitler ran nazi germany

3 questions: 1. will the game have firearms(or weapons in general)? 2. will you be able to shoot them? 3. will you be able to do so in first person view? if the answer to these questions is yes then the game falls into the fps genre(among others), and my so called argument stands. and authenticity to what? rockets imagination? id like to think he decides that

wow, this thread is thick with elitist douchebaggery, its as if they are all kindergarteners that doesent know any other games than cod. while i do agree that the later cod games suck it really annoys me that people attack the series in general when the first 2 games were awesome in their time, then again an 8yo wouldnt know that so i guess it cant be helped. and crosshairs have been present in pretty much every fps game ever made(lets not forget this includes arma 2, optional or not), i dont see why you would automatically lump people who like/dont mind them together with cod kids when soooooooooooooooo many other games have crosshair too, including the battlefield games wich are hybrids of arcade shooters and combat sims with the former being the dominant part. me, i like crosshairs, ive played almost every fps worth mentioning from wolfenstien 3d and forward(and yes that includes cod1,2,mw1,bo1)and they all had crosshairs, its how fps games have always been for me. so when someone call you cod kid for liking them, i, and i suspect alot of other actual elites, really have to question if the person calling you a kid isnt a kid himself. as far as third person goes i dont mind but it needs to be improved and freelook needs to be disabled in it so you cant look around corners and such.

i joined a server with the welcome message not to touch the admin camp near misty peak, marked with 3 cars parked in a triangle formation, so after a while of playing and getting decent equipment i went up there, looted it and tossed a few grenades to level it, this was an official hive server so it didnt feel right that the admins would get to hoard shit without risk, well i made my way out of there and a short while later i got banned, still got all the gear so it wasnt a loss on my part, rules like that belong on private hive servers.

my best close range pvp round was when i put my mic near the speakers and started blasting out rock and metal continuosly for a good 2h straight in direct chat(and i did that with all ingame sounds off so i gave them a hell of an advantage), on a taviana server i got alot of praise as i ran a taxi service with a chopper i found while playing long tall sally by little richard(the song they play in predator while flying into the jungle). so dont listen to the pricks telling you only trash and kids do this, as long as you do it well and not in side/global chat(if they are available) only people with their heads up their arse are gonna have a problem with it. seeing as they only have to kill you to shut you up so i dont get what their problem is.

now whats wrong with enfield? apart from the sound radius that is.. ive got more pvp kills with it than any other weapon and a few were at 400m+ wich may not be amazing but better than ive done with the ak74 family, m4 family or the m16 family, hell im happy if i get someone at 200m range with only one clip with those weapons.

i turn up the gamma if i need to and im not ashamed of it for 2 reasons, 1. moonless nights are crazy dark, ive never seen that level of darkness outside in real life 2. the green light from nvg gives me a headache after prolonged use so when i find it i just give it away to someone who appreciates it more than me and no im not gonna use chemlights/roadflares/flashlight, im not big on announcing my presence to everyone

it doesent screw up the aim with the scopes, the center of the scope is always the center of the scope, but it screws up the mil dots so if youre fond of the dmr youre gonna have to learn to use it properly again with custom fov

100m you say, youre so full of crap you make the golgothan from Dogma look like a daffodil. no freakin way you are gonna hear someone slicing up a dead animal with a knife from more than 5-7m away unless they start hacking away at the bones

well its not the first time ive gotten killed cause i hit v to vault instead of c to stand up(but it is the only time ive done it in such a manner), and a few times ive died cause i pressed v instead of b while i had binoculars out, wich means you have to watch yourself put away binoculars, ready weapon, vault. holster weapon and take out binoculars again, i did that with a zombie smacking me around once, before i had gotten my binoculars out again after the longass animation i was unconscious and died shortly afterwards. still havent bothered rebinding the vault key though :P

i dont really care about age, ive met players that sounded like they were around 30yo that behaved worse than cod kids, you can hear 20+yo players on unoficial servers with sidechat bitching and whining over having been killed by someone else, making excuses for themselves and whatnot. but i do get annoyed by high pitched voices, mostly cause they all seem to have their microphone volume maxed out so a hair falling to the ground sounds like nuclear explosion to us. its simple, if you can behave you get to play, but dont interpret that as support for profanity filters or something like that, i hate those and you can be a douchebag without having to use foul language just like you can be a nice/decent person and use foul language.

when i accidentally ejected from a chopper the first time riding one in dayz and halfway down a m136 hit the chopper and the guys in it died, i got pretty decent gear after barely managing to take out the m136 guy as he moved in to kill me and loot the others, also got his gaz

i once emptied the coyote pack of a sniper near electro without him noticing it, then stashed the gear, collected 24 trash items and returned to him and filled up the backpack with the trash, then made my way back to my stash, placed a map marker on him that said "sniper humiliated by Carrotsanta"(thats what Morotstomten translates into so i use it sometimes to make it easier to communicate in voice chat) and after roughly 15 min someone says "DAMN YOU CARROTSANTA" in sidechat(he probably went into map to place a waypoint to range something). my proudest bandit achievement to date

i found a stashed ural loaded with various types of ammo and m203 rounds, nv goggles, rangefinders, medicine, vehicle parts, camo clothes and ghillie suits, alice and coyote backpacks, and 2 g17, 3 as50, 1 m107, 3 dmr, 4 ak kobras, 2 akm, 2 m4a1, 1 m4a1 cco sd(but no ammo), 1 m4a3 cco, 1 m4a1 m203 rco, 3 fn fal, 1 fn fal an/pvs-4, 1 l85a2 aws, 1 bizon, 2 m14 and 1 m24, it was like christmas and talk like a pirate day combined, too bad there was no sidechat, i moved a few things to 2 tents on opposite sides of the map and left the remaining stuff in the ural and parked it outside electro church(without vehicle parts, shot out the tires and left the engine running and lights on so noone would miss it. and the next time i logged in the ural was still there but emptied out and damn if you couldnt hear flies almost everywhere within 30m

a few weeks ago played on a private panthera server and didnt find a sidearm in almost 4h, i had a scooby doo van with 2 fn fal with 7 clips, 1 as50 with 3 m107 clips, 1 m14 with 4 clips and a m4a3 with 8 clips on me, but not a single damn pistol, i even cleared out every building in fob boriana from items to allow new ones to spawn in 4 times(but that was mainly for the warehouses to get wheels for a better car) and every building in kobarid once but not a single pistol spawned in. i eventually ended up with a pdw then g17 but at that point i realised it was primetime in most eu countries and there where only 6 players including me on the server so i left

good private servers usually have decent protection against hackers with active admins and whitelist, but there is also the risk that admins run enforces special rules wich you get banned for breaking, so far ive happened upon no pvp servers(seriously how fun is that in the long run), no stealing vehicles(i saw a guy get banned once cause he fixed up and took a ural he found that turned out to be the admins so i politely told him he was a fucktard and quit), and recently i entered a server where the admins hoarded vehicles and equipment in devils castle and threatened to ban people that got too close to it and apparently banned anyone that had been there even if they didnt touch their stuff(it was even a part of the welcome message, "welcome to blah blah blah, touch our shit and we ban you, gl hf"(short version). sure its their right to run their server as they see fit but i dont see why anyone else would want to play under those conditions. but i have also played on servers with admins that give vehicles and weapons to new players or offer them taxi service in helis and other good guy actions and those i try to remember. and i like that they usually have sidechat enabled, its harder as a bandit if your victims inform other people of your whereabouts and if im playing bandit myself i still consider it a good thing

i was looting the northern barracks at nw airfield at night and shortly after exiting 2 people in direct chat told me not to move, drop my weapons and backpack and run off or they would kill me(what moron would do that?) laughing with eachother quite stupidly if i get to say so myself, so i decided to take my chances, and zigzagged to the industrial area while being shot at by 3 people with 2 m4 rifles and an rpk and not a single bullet hit me(my macho level was skyhigh at the moment), so i continued to run south east to the firestation, through it and circled around the control tower from the east(zombies on the west side that would have heard me on the tarmac), up the ladder while hoping they arent in a position to see me, into the tower and down the stairs to the front door and take up position, shortly after that the rpk guy(i think, didnt have nv goggles so had brightness settings at max wich made people look like a tan blob at distance) and one of the m4 guys walked in through the backdoor, i bursted(manual burst yes) half a mag with my m4a1 sd and dropped them both, and put on a modest grin irl(i dont attack other players often and when i am up against other players i usually lose so i felt a bit proud) but i wiped it off quickly since i still had one m4 guy left, so moved up into the tower, proned and checked around in 3rd person view for him and manged to see him crouching and leaning around the corner to the firestation from the north convinced i was there when i killed his buddies(i assume they didnt have a voice chat software to talk to eachother since it was obvious to the other 2 i wasnt in there), so i crouched out to the edge, of the corner with the ladder, leaned out, placed a bullet straight in his head, pressed c to get up, only i didnt press c to stand, i pressed v to do that ugly ass jump substitute vault thingy, so i got to watch my character suicide after my greatest pvp achievement in dayz, all because i didnt rebind the key like ive been thinking since the first time i vaulted instead of standing up, well, i still havent bound it to another key, but im still thinking about it. anyway, thats my stupidest death that wasnt glitch related. close 2nd would be the 1st guy i met in dayz that i teamed up with, i had a makarov and he didnt have a thing so after 30min of not finding any weapons in civilian buildings we got to a barn and i saw i double barreled shotgun and told him to get it, the instant he had it readied he emptied it in my back an stole what little i had.

its been my experience that people who attack other people for voicing their concern over certain features in a game actually agrees with them to a certain point but wont say it themselves in fear of being perceived as a whiner. in case you didnt know there is a suggestion subforum, not this one though, wich means the devs do want input from the community, and that includes constructive criticism and ideas for new features. but yes, something like "zombie bad!" or "me not like that!" hardly qualifies as constructive criticism you seem to be under the impression that people who raises concern over a feature with an argument as to why they think it should be altered/removed are the same as people who drop a one line whine with a threat/promise to quit playing

supposedly bad things 1. this is a good thing 2. i agree that the respawn timer is way too short, it should be possible to clear a town/city from zombies for a short while, now its just endless zombie hoard on you if you atract their attention 3. this should be limited to zombies within a short range 4. these things are supposed to only use the most basic functions of their brains right? but they immediately assume vehicle sound, gunfire and movement noise is food, none of them should send them storming with fork and knife at the ready, it should turn their attention in that direction and have them move there to see what made the noise and if they spot a player on the way then its fork and knife time. 5. just running into a bush with a zombie on your ass and it cant find you seemed stupid to me from day 1(not that i didnt take advantage of it ;)), you should be able to take advantage of the LOS, drop to the ground and if you are outside zombie hearing/visual range then it can lose interest in you and continue with its hobbies. 6. mixed feelings about it, but bloodbags are rarely a concern for me 7. this is a really great thing 8. this should be a difficulty setting(personally i dont like them in heavily populated servers, i go paranoid from them) supposedly good things 1. great, more vehicles i never get to use :P 2. didnt like that alice is only 16 slots now 3. with zombie behavior as it is guns are scary to use, would rather have seen more SD variants or a silencer item that you could attach to certain weapons(and detach from already silenced weapons maybe?) 4. bacon 5. didnt notice any difference 6. re-added but yes good thing 7. rarely get to see one but good indeed sorry for the long post.

well its not like they open the doors to pull you out, they break the windows and pull you out from them, wich would be pretty much impossible to do by hand on a military vehicle. but on civilian vehicles id rather see the option to use scrap metal to weld bars over the windows, cause that would be one of the first things youd do with your vehicle of choice in a zombie apocalypse, that and a plow infront
