Who Else Thinks 1.7.5.1 Pushes Annoyance and Survival Too Far?

i accept the fact that gunfire and noise in general atracts zombies, if you have limited use of your brain and spend most of your time walking/hopping/crawling around in a circle then a sound out of the ordinary would be interesting and they would want to check it out, but i dont like that they immediately assume any noise = food and comes gunning at mach 1 with pin point accuracy to the spot the sound originated from, noise should make zombies face or move in that direction at their own pace until they spot something edible then leg it while screaming their rotting guts out to alarm their pals that dinner is here. i was never much for killing zombies in big cities and other player hotspots since it tells them youre there and most people would rather shoot you than find out of youre friendly or not, but now with the decrease in ammo and their super hearing firing a gun in a city or town is just about the dumbest thing you can do since youre unlikely to be able to replenish the ammo you wasted and before youve killed the last zombie more have already respawned and are after you again(seriously zombie respawn timer is crazy low) and while youre dealing with the neverending zombie horde gear hungry/bloodthirsty bandits are following them to take advantage of the situation. but i do think super hearing zombies are an improvement to the deaf ones, but only a little. and im never using a winchester, enfield or db shotgun on a zombie again. and on a sidenote, to me making the alice pack 16 slots was a dick move, cant really carry 2 weapons and a reasonable ammount of ammo for both with a decent ammount of food and medical supplies until you against all odds find a coyote pack(decent being 1-2 painkillers, 2 morphine, 1-2 antibiotics 2 blood bags, 2 food and 2 drink, and reasonable being atleast 5 clips for carbine/assault rifle and 40 rounds for a sniper rifle) so now if youre a hoarder like me you pretty much have to set up a tent where noone will find it(wich ofc means someone will find it instantly) to stash stuff in -
i think you should be able to use lots more different types of clothes other than camo and ghillie, i dont like starting the game and see that ive gone from my slightly more stealthy black top i had when i respawned or played last time to a bright light blue one thats stands out like a sore thumb everywhere but in a puddle of water(in wich case your head is all people will see anyway) camo clothes should be easier to find in barracks and in supermarket and residential areas you should be able to find other clothes in various colors, wouldnt it be fun if you could look like the zombies, would be kinda fun to crawl around cherno/elektro with an unequipped pistol looking like a zombie waiting for players to pass by then whip out a pistol and unload in their backs as they carefully sneak by you trying not to aggro you. and on the same note, its only logical that some zombies used to be survivors who had backpacks(i havent taken a good look at how people look with their backpack but most decent packs that arent for kids school books or gym clothes comes with safety straps to keep it from falling/slipping off, so it would make sense that some who died with a backpack.. relives(?) with one, but not larger packs than you start with, wouldnt want to make it too easy to get a decent backpack, they could be empty or full and have anything in it, trash, food, water/soda, ammo, certain tools, medical items and maybe even a basic weapon if it fits, im not saying every other zombie should be wearing a backpack but there should be a chance that one spawns with a backpack, and it would promote confrontations with zombies rather than avoiding them or running away from them

Crossbows. Please spawn quivers of bolts, instead of singles.

the bolts come in singles for the same reason shotgun ammo comes in 2 and 8 round "clips" -
except that people would abuse this by having characters logged in multiple hotspots, hopping between them to find players to kill or clans would have 1 or more fully equipped characters logged near their base that they switch to if it came to their attention it was being looted by someone

well i dont know about everyone else but im simply proposing an alternative game mode to the original, not a replacement

i would think of alot of rpgs before skyrim, it was a fun game but compared to morrowind and oblivion it was bad, and understandably so when its a pc game that was made for consoles then ported back to the platform it should have been made for in the first place

its a reasonable idea for a rpg game mode, but in that case id rather see character development without specific paths, and naturally some servers would have character levels stay through death while others would be hardcore forcing you to start over and naturally you cant load a hardcore character into a regular server or the other way around, even if rocket wont implement such a game mode im sure a such a mod will be made eventually anyway

i wouldnt be against it if it wasnt possible to do it to a player who was shot in the head AND the action taken would lock the player performing it from doing anything for ~5min AND it took the place of the backpack(like previously stated a defibrilator is of no use to someone whos heart has stopped due to blood loss from a gunshot wound so it would only be reasonable that the defibrilator is a part of a larger field trauma kit with most of the necessities you would need to treat someone in the field + bloodbags). forcing one into the role of a medic and to ensure you wont see 2man groups ninja reviving eachother like you can in battlefield. but i would propose that players shot in the body instead enters a near death state where a player has to use the defib/trauma kit on him within a reasonable ammount of time.

crowbars are rare compared to hatchets wich there are more of than trash items. i dont even bother picking one up because there is almost certainly a hatchet around the corner

Change Axe to Secondary + Slower Zombies

id settle for zombies running equally fast as players, in the beginning as soon as i get an axe my tactic is simple, run like a fat boy chasing the ice cream truck aggroing as many zombies as possible and run into a building and pick them off one by one, and during the course of aggroing zombies once in a while one aggros and sprints like crazy.. away from you, around twice as fast as you can run yourself, its quite obvious they run faster than you, more than once have i aggroed a zombie from far away and running away from it only to have it breathing down my neck seconds later. and as people have said countless times modern zombies arent dead corpses revived by voodoo magic that limps forward with arms stretched out, hands hanging down moaning "braaaaaaaaaainsss!", though some of them would be rotting by now from lack of food and/or the unattended injuries they sustained if their zombiness was caused by lovebite(s) from another zombie, limiting their physical capabilities(maybe the crawling zombies are supposed to take that role? or are they crawling for fun?) i do agree that meele weapons should go into secondary, id take an axe over pistol, ideally id like to see a melee weapon slot but thats probably a bitch to make in arma2 -
when you sneak over rock/concrete/asphalt you sound like you do so with wooden clogs, or rather like you are stomping forward in wooden clogs trying to break the ground, with sneakers or any type of practical footwear i/anyone could move pretty fast on solid ground making almost no sound at all, running/walking softly is easy and in the situation you are in the game its something that should come naturally to the survivors. for gameplay purposes you shouldnt be able to run quietly maybe but you should definetly be able to sneak properly

silencers are easy to get a hold of, over here they are completely legal and you dont need any kind of permit or license to buy one, though you need a license for the weapon you may intend to use it on and im sure i speak for most people when i say we dont need or want more shotguns, ill take hatchet every day of the week over double barreled, if ammo for it was in 10 or 20round boxes(that all shotguns used) you loaded out of instead of the 2round "clips" or 8 round for benelli/remmington, id consider picking one up instead of the hatchet

Making forests scary at night.

but forests arent scary at night, atleast not when it has no wildlife that will attack you -
1. i believe i read somewhere that you have a chance to become sick if your temperature drops very low or a small chance from zombie attacks that causes you to cough and lose blood until you use antibiotics. 2. you can control a sneeze by pinching your noise(can hurt your ears but still..) 3. no thanks 4. how do you know you arent already? your character might be ninja farting all the time. 5. simple to burp without making sound 6. ive had hypotermia and been otherwise really cold as a kid and while it made me stutter when speaking it never made my teeth chatter 7. ive had muscle pain from working out and from using muscles i havent been using much before and its not even worth thinking about, its there but its just not that bothersome 8. same as above 10. you dont have to spit, and you especially dont have to spit when you have a dozen hungry zombies around you, swallow it 11. you hold your breath when you hold in mouse2 to zoom in(you will notice your aim starting to flail around as you hold it in over an extended period)

a short while ago i jumped 8 or so servers listed as being in a night time timezone but upon entering it was the middle of the day. i read alot of hatred(understandably) for server hopping so if thats gonna be punished in the future then servers need to list timezones properly. and the reason im not keen on playing on a daytime server at this time is because im right outside NW airfield and the first and preferably last time i was there daytime i got killed by a sniper. and that i have a m4a1 sd is all the more reason not to be too visible in a hotspot as its not the best weapon to fight with at longer ranges.

force server hosts to list the correct timezone

im on vacation for the moment so im up when its daytime but normally i work nights and sleep most of the day(during "weekends" too) so normally i only get an hour or 2 of daytime play at servers in my timezone before it turns pitch black wether i like it or not. also, day/night cycle is far from accurate compared to here as there is only one season in dayz(fall or spring from the looks of it). now i understand that its only fair that the poor bastards in alaska for example have to play the game with 30 days of night and 30 days of day once a year too. but yes I want to raid nw airfield during night no matter what time of day it is where im playing from, you might be content to play on a server that follows your day and night cycle perfectly but im not, im sorry that im being selfish about how I want my gameplay experience to be. i used it for 4 of the servers i tried. 3 had 01.XX listed and 1 had 04.XX -
dayz is great but not the best mod ever sadly while i loathe it now counterstrike when it was a mod was still WAY beyond dayz, dunno if its the best mod ever but still wins over dayz in overall popularity so far

dont you have to be below 9k blood to get knocked out? or is the wiki page outdated? and if you were under 9k blood that means youve taken more than one hit(duh)

this happened to me not 5min ago when i was looting intl airport and saw a guy looting one of the hangars and decided to take him on but he either managed to take cover behind the wall or he alt+f4ed but before i could check it out i got those artifacts popping up as i looked in that direction so decided to cut my losses(was on my way to grab a dmr instead of the m4a1 sd with only one clip that i used while sneaking around in there) as i wouldnt have been able to defend myself if he was still there and decided to try and fight back

i too have noticed zombies aggro much easier since the latest update. in a room in one of the appartment complexes in berezino i found a wichester that i switched out my enfield for temporarily to pick off 2 bugs bunny zombies hopping around the entrance of the supermarket across the street, so i get up on the roof and put a bullet in each ones head and when i was about to get back down to my enfield i see every zombie within 300m running towards me, luckily the winchester came with 3 clips so i wouldnt have to deal with over 50 zombies with the enfields slow fire rate(i managed to get through it with the winchester empty + 3 clips from the revolver, and as far as the eye could see it was a zombie free heaven for about 10 secs until everyone respawned(there should be a longer respawn time on zombies, coming to a place and not finding any zombies would be as fun as it would be worrysome(since you didnt kill them someone else must have)) im guessing the zombies movement is under development and will be more fluid and simple/logical when the game enters beta, but their speed should be reduced, ive heard people claim that they run exactly as fast as players but ive seen zombies react to me and gun away from me in the same direction im running in almost/possibly as much as or more than twice as fast, wich is only supported by the fact that zombies that aggro from far away will be snarling right behind you within seconds, even bug bunny zombies start wobbling after you at unnaturally fast speed for a human in that stance

if dayz becomes a standalone game, arma engine or not then id like to see a new map too, cant really support a standalone game if the biggest content in it is recycled, not to say that it shouldnt have cherno in it if its possible to but it needs atleast 1 original map in my opinion

Removal of Sniper Rifles and Silenced guns.

i havent held a larger sniper rifle than the m24 yet but as i understand it the 2 .50cal rifles are big so you stand out if you move with one on your back and because of their size you cant hide in bushes as well as with other rifles, they are really loud so they are unfit for use in places with lots of zombies when youre alone. personally i think there needs to be more locations with military loot spawns so its not so difficult to get military grade gear, especially barracks since the only 2 are at the same place and camped by 15 people 24/7 if nvg is a problem then play on a day time server and i doubt you would complain about the l85a2 if you had one yourself -
1. if you cant close doors without breaking you bones maybe you should leave it to the professionals, ive only broken bones 2 times so far, 1st by zombie beatdown(i survived and fixed it) and 2nd by a lucky shot from a player just as i ran around the corner of a building and would have gotten away from him. but it would be nice if you could use bandage + firewood to make a splint so you could walk atleast until you found morphine 2. not punching but shoving/pushing zombies so they stagger backwards with a chance to fall down would be nice, and while i dont know if zombies can fall down from tall places it would be a nice thing if you climbed up a tall building with a zombie on your ass and when it comes up you could push it back over the edge(maybe with a cooldown or something so you cant use it to draw a horde of zombies on top of a building and rapid fire push them all off of it) 3. i usually find a hatchet(usually i end up with 2 hatchets) long before i find a hunting knife(unless i spawn near a big city), i see crowbar less than almost all other low end weapons though did you alteast shoot him in the face while he was laughing at you(he was laughing at you right?)
