    Hacker Activity on US 2237

Lost, it was definitely US 2237--I just triple-checked my history with DayZ Commander--but after seeing your reply I'm feeling fairly confident in you as an admin, and would like to give your server a test run as my new go-to server. :) I can't be certain David was a teleporter, but the whole thing was terribly suspect. On the off chance he was just running through the woods when he stumbled upon me, though, I don't necessarily want to see him banned. Only if sufficient evidence appears in the logs. But yeah, logan was definitely hacking. I really appreciate you catching him! Looking forward to giving 2737 a go in the near future!

First of all, screenshotting in DayZ is a nightmare. And even if I did have a screenshot, what then? Just some guy in the woods or something? A lot of shit is impossible to screenshot, and not everybody can or should be expected to fraps the whole time they play. Secondly, I don't have access to the logs; the admins do. If admins want evidence, they can just check the logs. If they can't check the logs, or the logs offer insufficient evidence, then why the hell is that an issue not presently being addressed by the admin community? And how would it be my fault in any way, exactly, for attempting to bring it to their attention? Posting these isn't pointless; asking everybody to magically provide absolutely damning evidence (pretty much only ever video) is, especially when it's in the hands of the admins to check the game logs.

Player David somehow found me in woods, shot me in the head as I was spawning in, I spawned in with a duped corpse. I see him at my camp and approach. He kills me. I wake up at the coast with an AS50 and full gear. Please check the logs. No definite proof, but a pretty big hunch.
  4. Server: US 2237 Time: ~10:00 PM PST Description: I had a truck, lost it to some players in a firefight, logged off for a bit. Logged on, found the truck and the players, sniped them, and grabbed the truck back. A new friend of mine grabs their other vehicle, a van, and we meet in Kamenka. Suddenly a GAZ comes hauling down the road and stops next to the van. He doesn't respond when called to, and I'm too far away to help. I see my new friend (Mato?) unload clip after clip into this guy while he just stands there, taking it, not dying. Absolutely terrified, I decide to run this undying player (logan) over with my truck. I send him flying, but then he runs right back and starts popping off poorly aimed shots everywhere. I think a few hit my friend, though I don't suspect him of anything after he nearly died from a zed swipe not 10 minutes before. I drove away telling him to head north, while he tried to deal with logan, who still showed no signs of dying. As I drove away, my friend's name came across my screen as deceased. Logan was chatting with us in direct the whole time we were trying to kill him, mocking us. TL;DR player "logan" did not die after emptying numerous clips into him point blank, while he was typing mockingly in chat with us.

Hey, I will email you as well, but it deserves to be posted here too. When hacking is occurring, it isn't always feasible to screencap, especially since ArmA 2 will not allow me or many other people to screengrab at all without a 3rd party program. As a server host, I think it would simply be more adequate to review the logs briefly, particularly with reference to the players listed. The hacks should be obvious, especially since everybody but three people and the two hackers left the server, leaving only the people trolling them/reporting this, and the hackers themselves. Their behavior should be pretty easy to check with so little server activity. :)

TheLG. He spawned in next to me in Elektro, shot me. I spawned in at Krutoy Cap and he tried to give me a Draganov, which i promptly declined.
  7. Server: US 838 Time: 5:17 PM PST What happened: Running around Nishnoye when i get killed randomly with friend. Spawn in and die by the same weapon numerous times in isolated locations. Please check the logs.

We got the entire server to blare Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" over their mics while we respawned as fodder for them. He was terrible. Couldn't shoot for shit. We made a point of dodging everything he threw at us, or running around behind him. They both logged right about the time I said "go on, do it, kill me; make your father proud--for once." Counter-trolling win. Good times. Please, ban these morons.

In more recent news, we ran new characters and he teleported in again and hilarity ensued. It was.... so funny how bad he was. Still no name but wow. Just so bad.
  11. Server: US 2556 Time: 1:49 AM PST What happened: Running toward green mountain with friend, random teleporter appears, kills us with DMR. Spawn in again twice, he appears and shoots me with the DMR. No nameplates, so no verification of his name. Just irritating. Please check the logs. :>

Thanks very much for reviewing the logs. We ran into these players multiple times, so it seemed like they were the culprits. I'm happy to know the true hacker has been dealt with, though. Thank you for looking into this and responding!
  13. Server: US 1479 Time: ~10:30 or 11 PM PST, August 9, 2012 What happened: The server was filled with vehicles in amounts unnatural to the spawn algorithms of the game, and what's more, we saw them spawning before our very eyes. A couple players in particularly were teleporting around the map and killing players for their high end gear, and these were the same players who we saw spawning and driving the vehicles on the server, which included two Urals, a bus, and 2 helicopters, though we found a vehicle/player graveyard where they had been spawning vehicles near Kamenka. At this site there were multiple helicopters, several cars, and a ton of dead bodies, which included much of the loot from recently killed players, including my friend who had been killed by a group of teleporters for his weapon in the middle of the woods, a few kilometers north of where I witnessed the same players moments later crashing helicopters into Elektro. The two player names I was able to get who I witnessed hacking were "Cookiez" and "Scotty G". Hopefully that helps.

    banned from us 913

I'm inclined to weigh in on this, though for no other reason than that all the involved parties are highly irrational. Str8dumpn: To avoid hassle in the future, just start out by posting a pastebin of the logs, or hosting a copy of the txt/rtf they're saved in. Obviously pasting the logs here is no different from uploading them to pastebin, and likewise you are just as able to edit them in your post as you are in a txt, but I'm inclined to believe that the logs you provided are accurate just on good faith alone. Hesitating less to show them, though, will only strengthen your stance by making you seem like you have less to hide (even if you never had anything to hide in the first place). It is also hard to tell from the logs if the players in question are the ones on this forum; you would be wise to confirm their usernames before proceeding. Additionally, please make sure your reasons for banning are consistent, as logging out and in is not presently a bannable offense (though hacked items are). You would be in the wrong for banning them purely for aborting and re-logging, but correct for banning them for hacking. This leaves you in a more ambiguous grey area than you would be in if you had banned them based on a single legitimate offense. Also, one player with a hacked item is not grounds to ban his friends/clanmates. They can not be held accountable for his actions without evidence that they, too, participated in hacking. Those parties should have their bans removed, though I am in agreement that "Brojangles" would be in the right to keep banned. MrPibb: If you have a screenshot, post it. If you have a link to the forum in question, post it. Otherwise, this is hearsay. Without even the slightest bit of evidence, nothing you say has any relevancy or bearing within a rational discussion. I'm not saying it didn't really happen, or that you aren't telling the truth, but without proof nobody else can confirm this, and they would be within reason to be skeptical of you. Scuur: Learn to let your arguments stand on their own merits without resorting to insults. Thank you. Milkman and crew: You are consistently committing the the fallacious act of Moving the Goalposts. When an admin provides evidence, you can't ask him to keep providing different evidence until you get something you can work with. If the names on the log truly aren't yours, then verify it with a screengrab. If they are, then own up to content of the logs. It is his word vs. yours at this point, and without counter-evidence on your side, even a modicum of evidence on his side is enough to sway the argument. Reason must be derived from the best available evidence, and hearsay accounts are one of the worst kinds of evidence, as they are overly subjective and prone to biases. I know you are upset, but please try to keep a level head and suss this out with some level of restraint and maturity. TO EVERYONE: Calling other players children and insulting their character is one of the lowest and most baseless forms of arguing. Ad hominem attacks destroy the content of real discussion and reduce us to infighting. We're all adults here, and even if we're not all acting rationally, there is no reason to go on insulting people. Yes, Scuur was being a troll. But if you feed the trolls, it only gets worse. Yes, Milkman and his crew have drawn this out too far at this point. And yes, Str8dumpn has given us the run-around. But is that reason to insult one another? Nobody in this discussion has acted sensibly--nobody. So let's not pretend like only one of us can be right like this is some black-and-white offense, when it's all muddled up in grey, both by the situation surrounding the ban and by the behavior of those in this forum. Let's get this shit together people.
