If the bandit skins are still in the standalone I'm going to be pissed.

Okay, does your mommy know you're on the internet "broo"? -

I don't think you understand what a jihadist is. Anyway, how about a beret then? Would that be better? How about a bandanna? Why do I get the feeling it's the "jihadist" look that upsets you the most? Anyway, this topic has been beaten to death. -

If the bandit skin was a ghillie suit no one would be crying. -
Standalone and Helicopters.
sausagekingofchicago replied to ruecanonrails's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Stories like yours would be more common if the controls were more difficult. Guys like you and me might not get to fly often but meeting someone who can fly, like you in the story, and not being a complete bandit to them might lead to more interactions involving fewer bullets. Everyone would have something to gain from not blowing each others heads. You had a skill and it was in demand, that led to an awesome time. If anything, we need more in-game skills like this that take time to master. Right now, any Joe can hop into a chopper, press Q, fail to take off and explode in a tree. This leads to less helicopters, less chances to fly, and less fun. Even just a few extra steps to fire up the engines, and maybe removing auto-hover, would make things more challenging, more authentic, and increase the value of other players. Oh wow, Dreygar not liking something related to ArmA2. What are the odds. -

Zombies running in zig zag In Stand Alone!!!

I'd like to see them run almost straight for us but with occasional stumbling or staggering, in greater numbers, and with varying speeds. -
Getting Back in DayZ, whats the hacking like
sausagekingofchicago replied to Muppet (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Varies completely. Some days it seems like I join nothing but hacker servers but sometimes I go long stretches without an incident. -
Your guy's opinion on spawning with weapons.
sausagekingofchicago replied to TruckingBucket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think we should spawn with half blood or spawn bleeding with no bandages. -

When dogs are added...
sausagekingofchicago replied to GulpinGulpin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I hope they can swim. Imagine what it would be like if their pathfinding was as stupid as the zombies (without the zigzagging). I'm glad they didn't rush the dogs out. -
Will dogs log out with the player?
sausagekingofchicago replied to Rinstan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Cool. I think a lot of dog meat is going to be fed to a lot of dogs. :) -
Image editing software (anyone know?)

Since no one has mentioned it yet, GIMP is good. I doubt you'll find a better free image editor. -

DayZGame vs DayZMod
sausagekingofchicago replied to Dreygar (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not. A huge well balanced map that introduces a lot of new buildings, atmosphere, and gameplay that caters to all styles of play is easily worth 10 bucks to me. I like the community maps but if BI/RocketCo/whoever could take it to the next level then I'm all for it. They'd really have to outdo what the community has already brought to the table to be worth it. I'm eager to see what Chernaus plus looks like. Maybe then we'd get a taste of what future maps might look like. -
DayZGame vs DayZMod
sausagekingofchicago replied to Dreygar (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
With Minecraft, it comes down to Notch and Co to decide when it's finished. They don't really have to answer to any top brass. Two questions I hope someone can answer. How much influence will BI have in determining when the game is 'complete'? Are they run by the bean counters like EA or does Rocket have a very long leash? -

Why I quit (yes another one of those threads)
sausagekingofchicago replied to cloudsystem38's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Rocket did say he would like an IQ test just to fire up the game. I can't say I disagree but it sounds like there's already an intelligence barrier in place. -
DayZ Commander not saving my maps i've downloaded?
sausagekingofchicago replied to GulpinGulpin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Click refresh versions. Sometimes they're installed but it doesn't say. This always seems to happen after I update all of the maps one after the other. -
I like the rarely visited Black Mountain castle. The area all around Grozovy pass is nice. If you have a fast off-road vehicle, the eastern route from Grozovy through the mountains, or along the foot of the mountains, all the way to the NE airfield is pretty nice when the sun is setting. Hauling ass south from the NW side of the map on a bike of fast off-roader can be pretty fun too, especially if people are taking shots at you. There's some interesting stuff on the NE side of the map, way above Guba and technically off the map. Follow the coast. The area around Tulga is interesting and I occasionally find some campers up there.

Underrated Weapons
sausagekingofchicago replied to Fraggle (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
AKM is probably the best weapon for coastal work. Nearly all my kills have come from it. MK48 is a bit too much for this game. If zombies were a real threat it would be ideal but right now it's just a player butcher and really overpowers the guy using it. -
Standalone and Helicopters.
sausagekingofchicago replied to ruecanonrails's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
True enough. I end up tapping a lot of the keys and still over correcting sometimes. Nothing quite beats a nice analog setup but the way the game is right now, you don't need to be an expert to jump in a chopper and fly away. A very little amount of practice will teach everyone how to land with zero issues. I just want it to be much much harder. But I see why some don't. Maybe they'll could give us an option for flight difficulty? -
Standalone and Helicopters.
sausagekingofchicago replied to ruecanonrails's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Which is one reason why they should be much harder to repair and fly. They have a place but they shouldn't be easy. There's your problem there. All the controls are on the keyboard. It's extremely easy. I imagine a flight stick would be nice if calibrated correctly with tons of hours of experience but anyone can easily fly using a keyboard without much experience at all. Too easy in fact. -
Standalone and Helicopters.
sausagekingofchicago replied to ruecanonrails's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As with everything else, I want the helicopter to be much harder to fly. I hope they use the system in TOH as it'll add that much more depth and challenge to the game. Right now, the flight system is way too easy. Btw, if you haven't already, learn to fly in first person. It's much easier once you get used to it and a lot more fun. Also, anyone having trouble flying or anyone who wants to learn should fire up the ArmA 2 mission editor, plop in some choppers, and have at it. It's a good way to practice and you can quickly learn how each chopper handles.
