DayzToolbar - How to Survive The Apocalypse -

@mercenary. I looked into "ourtoolbar" and then who and what "Conduit" is. I paid attention to the history of backdoors, background installations, troublesome uninstalls, redirects, data mining, homepage hijacking, and the Mozilla devs and mods having issues with the company that produces the toolbar software and the endless security issues. I'm not saying you're some type of scum or anything else as anyone can brand the Conduit software and then push it out without realizing what it is or what they're doing.

New Bambi, with a dinosaur computer

What kind of budget are you working with? This guy does a bunch of builds and you can find similar videos all over youtube. http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc is also a good place to check out.

It doesn't take too much research into Conduit to worry about their toolbars.

    Something about this... seems fishy.

    no updates?

Oh great. The game has been delayed by ten million years.

    "Zombie Logging" What's your take?

I was expecting the combat timer to turn on when zombies were chasing us. Hopefully something like that will be added in the mod at some point.
  7. Sounds like a private hive cluster, or whatever they're called, since Namalsk isn't part of the official hive.

    Downloading Arma! Can't wait!!

The first kill is the best kill. After that, you'll chase the dragon.
  9. It's actually Allahu Akbar and it's used by over a billion people (daily) who do not blow themselves up or commit any type of terrorism. I wasn't offended. Your original comment was just of very poor taste.
  10. Ignorance, it's the leading cause of looking like an asshole.

Why the skin system is fine...for now

I hope they're reworking the entire humanity system for the standalone. Hopefully the devs will hint at some changes soon. I can't imagine it would be identical to the system we have now.

Would you quit if servers went expert?

I wouldn't be a happy camper but I'd at least try FP for a while before rage quitting and cursing the decision. Waypoints, the magic gps map, peripheral dots, crosshairs, and nameplates all need to go. Third person should stay. All the campers hanging out on top of buildings would move indoors the second FPV only was enforced. They'd just sit in corners, in doorways, or at the top of stairs and ladders, with machines, assault rifles, or shotguns rather than camping on rooftops with sniper rifles. That'll make the game harder for people needing supplies but it'll make the game easier for anyone wanting to kill random people. I'd wager there would be even more campers in buildings since the kills would come so easily. The paranoia of not knowing whether or not a guy is watching you from his safe position is part of the game, to me at least. It adds much more tension to a town than anything else as there is no real safe place to hide. Third person makes the world more threatening. FP would make entering buildings more dangerous while making most areas completely safe. We need first person only servers and third person only servers (still FP when aiming down the sights).

Nice. I dug the kidnapping event.
  15. Here. We'll play a game with it. Pick five letters. _____ ___ __ ___ ____.
  16. I wont hold your hand through the scary sandbox game. I really do feel bad for you if you don't see more than two options in your scenario. No punishment = no karma system
  17. I read the thread. Your posts are the fun ones. A karma system that punishes bandits. Yeah, that's going to go over real well. Oh, and that wouldn't work anyway as not all the loot you find was spawned by you. Just to be clear, you want to punish bandits but you don't want to be identified as a bandit so you can steal non-bandits loot by shooting them or by server hopping? Yup, KOS solved!
  18. I was just brainstorming with him. A bullet casing will pretty much tell you what type of round was used. You don't need to be an expert at firearms to read the casing. I don't think this should be added to the game. I was throwing out a bit of basic knowledge I've gained. Granted, it does seem like a topic for another thread. Knowing if a player was eaten or shot can tell you a lot about your current situation. It'll also tell you a lot about the person that shot them if the body hasn't been looted or wasn't looted fully. Both bits of info would easily fit into this game and give players more tools to understand their environments. As for making another thread about bandit skins, why? This thread isn't even needed. There are plenty of other threads OP could have bumped with his contribution to the discussion. Nothing anyone said here was new or original. If OP had fired up the search feature instead of telling people to Learn2Read (registered trademark by Hooked On Phonics) he would have known this. Yup, there's a lack of new things to do but the game is what you make of it.
  19. "and your still not offering up any options lol."
  20. The current system has put the bandits on equal footing with everyone else. The current skin/bandit head as it is now is a bit ridiculous but its purpose is being served. And the first skin definitely offered a slight advantage and the players didn't need someone to show them it was fun to kill in game. The KoS problem did spiral out of control to the point where the game was nothing but a persistent deathmatch of combat logging, server hopping, douchebags looking to call out friendly and fire the first chance they had. At least now you can somewhat trust a guy long enough to trade blood bags and maybe team up with other survivors and *cough* "heroes" that don't want to shoot on sight, which is something bandits that thrive on cheap kills don't want to see happen. The hacker problem that was plaguing this game caused the worst of the coastal deathmatching as no one wanted to run north if they were just going to get squashed by some kid with a script. The lack of things to do wasn't as instrumental in the KoS as the hackers were. A newbie is going to have a hard to killing anything so he needs to learn the ropes first. If he knows gunning down people leads to becoming a bandit and still does it then that's his fault. I for one am glad this game isn't 100% deathmatching anymore so I'm happy with the skin, even when I earn it. It isn't permanent so if I don't want it, I don't have to have it.
  21. Bullet casings would tell pretty much the entire story but they're a bitch to find in real life even in short grass. :) I imagine a wound from an AS50 would look slightly different from wounds made by an AK at close range. Maybe studying the body could reveal the general type of gun and how many wounds but not get into too much detail.
  22. I was hoping that would have encouraged you into at least thinking about it for all of 10 seconds. If you did, I'm sorry. If you didn't, I'm even more sorry. You pretty much proved my point either way.
  23. I think you're missing the point of the game. There are plenty of games on the market if you want one that forces you to shoot every player you come across. This is a sandbox game with an apocalyptic setting. It's not meant to be an endless deathmatch and you're supposed to use your head a bit more than what is required in the hordes of mindless shooters on the market. Forcing people to shoot others just to survive, no matter the threat level, is a tired concept. If I wanted that I'd go fire up CoD or Halo. The bandit skin gives players a tool to identify a situation. Is the current system ideal? No. Does it work? Mostly. Can it be improved? Absolutely. We've seen how the game played without the skin and it was broken, vary. Gameplay has improved, for the most part, after the bandit skin was brought back. All the better bandit skin threads in the past have boiled down to one thing, the whiniest bandit skin opponents want nothing but cheap kills. They don't want to be identified as a person that will shoot you in the back. They don't want others to shoot them but they want to shoot everyone they see. They liked their advantage and don't like how the tables have turned now that they're the ones being shot on sight. The system is working. It just needs to be developed further. See, you can't think outside of the box the gaming industry, I hope they're to blame, has put you in. There are many more options in that scenario other than just shooting the guy or starving to death. You're failure to see this is probably why you're a bandit in the first place.
