I'm not. A huge well balanced map that introduces a lot of new buildings, atmosphere, and gameplay that caters to all styles of play is easily worth 10 bucks to me. I like the community maps but if BI/RocketCo/whoever could take it to the next level then I'm all for it. They'd really have to outdo what the community has already brought to the table to be worth it. I'm eager to see what Chernaus plus looks like. Maybe then we'd get a taste of what future maps might look like. -

With Minecraft, it comes down to Notch and Co to decide when it's finished. They don't really have to answer to any top brass. Two questions I hope someone can answer. How much influence will BI have in determining when the game is 'complete'? Are they run by the bean counters like EA or does Rocket have a very long leash? -

Rocket did say he would like an IQ test just to fire up the game. I can't say I disagree but it sounds like there's already an intelligence barrier in place. -

Click refresh versions. Sometimes they're installed but it doesn't say. This always seems to happen after I update all of the maps one after the other. -
I like the rarely visited Black Mountain castle. The area all around Grozovy pass is nice. If you have a fast off-road vehicle, the eastern route from Grozovy through the mountains, or along the foot of the mountains, all the way to the NE airfield is pretty nice when the sun is setting. Hauling ass south from the NW side of the map on a bike of fast off-roader can be pretty fun too, especially if people are taking shots at you. There's some interesting stuff on the NE side of the map, way above Guba and technically off the map. Follow the coast. The area around Tulga is interesting and I occasionally find some campers up there.

Underrated Weapons

AKM is probably the best weapon for coastal work. Nearly all my kills have come from it. MK48 is a bit too much for this game. If zombies were a real threat it would be ideal but right now it's just a player butcher and really overpowers the guy using it. -

True enough. I end up tapping a lot of the keys and still over correcting sometimes. Nothing quite beats a nice analog setup but the way the game is right now, you don't need to be an expert to jump in a chopper and fly away. A very little amount of practice will teach everyone how to land with zero issues. I just want it to be much much harder. But I see why some don't. Maybe they'll could give us an option for flight difficulty? -

Which is one reason why they should be much harder to repair and fly. They have a place but they shouldn't be easy. There's your problem there. All the controls are on the keyboard. It's extremely easy. I imagine a flight stick would be nice if calibrated correctly with tons of hours of experience but anyone can easily fly using a keyboard without much experience at all. Too easy in fact. -

As with everything else, I want the helicopter to be much harder to fly. I hope they use the system in TOH as it'll add that much more depth and challenge to the game. Right now, the flight system is way too easy. Btw, if you haven't already, learn to fly in first person. It's much easier once you get used to it and a lot more fun. Also, anyone having trouble flying or anyone who wants to learn should fire up the ArmA 2 mission editor, plop in some choppers, and have at it. It's a good way to practice and you can quickly learn how each chopper handles. -

When you die, disconnect from server before respawning. Reconnect. When you do, you should get the option to choose the female skin. Not a fix but it'll work until they patch it. The lack of a can opener is not going to stop me from opening a can of beans. Not having any type of fire starting tools will stop me from starting a fire. -

You can't hide anything in this game. At all. Ever. Anything of value will be taken within a couple hours most of the time. It'll be lucky to last that long on a public server. -

The crossbow: Feedback

I'd like to store bolts on the crossbow itself rather than the inventory. This would free up inventory space of all kinds and give players another reason to carry one. Sights are a must, even iron sights. As for retrieval, maybe the hitbox (?) to get the pick up option could be a bit larger but I like having to pull it from the body rather than finding it in the inventory. -

Everything I posted happened on public hive servers. The only hacks I've seen on private hives were passive hacks. Map hacking is hard to spot as it takes an active admin with spectating or someone with a map hack to spot the tell tale behavior. There are other hacks as well that are not as obvious. Ever have your pilot dc shortly after you team opens fire on some players? Yeah. Then there's the guys that teleport near your location and go right for you. Yes, finding a server with good admins makes all the difference but those are few and far between. The scum buy keys for a few dollars from shady websites that probably stole them from fools or bought them with stolen credit cards. The hacker websites also have a tighter community than us. The minute an update comes out and the bans start rolling word spreads and then they wait for an updated hack that comes out fairly quickly. I pray the SA can stop a lot of this. I really do. I love this game but as it is, the fuckhead used douchebags have ruined it. -

That's awesome for you. Day one, new patch. Logged into the public hive for first time in months. Instantly teleported along with entire server and got mowed down by hacker with SAW. Cool. Next spawn, new server. Same. Next spawn, new server. "friendly" hackers let me live when they saw my hero skin. Next day, new server. Only three guys on server. Spawn in, bam, three guys next to me. Even on the whitelisted server I play on people are using map hacks. If you don't think they're using them on your server you're sadly mistaken. :( "find a better server!" That's as easy as finding legit NV goggles without cycling loot. -

I really want to experience that feeling again but the map hacks and hackers have really ruined that part of the game for many of us. Even on private whitelisted hives you'll catch people using map hacks so there isn't really a safe place to play with legit players to experience the game as intended. It's really a question of when someone will bee line their way to you rather than if you'll stumble into someone. It's now guaranteed rather than a potentiality. In that encounter, the odds are stacked against you as they already know where you are, what direction you're going, and in some cases what guns you have, what vehicle you're in, and if you have any friends nearby. Got a bit off track, singleplayer wouldn't be bad if there was more to do than collect guns and vehicles and if the zombies were about 20 times tougher than they are now. Not much point to it right now unless we can create custom scenarios for DayZ with the mission editor. -

Which is why alt-f4 and abort should be available after being teleported across the map even if you're under fire. Hopefully they'll consider this and find an effective way to do it.
