I like it. :) I spent the weekend learning how to model and I have to say I dig your work. Did you use a specular map for the lid or a clever material? Now if only I can learn how to bloody unwrap my objects correctly. So many hotkeys... :)

The hatchet is the best weapon in the game, hands down. I recommend you pick one up and use nothing else until you get the hang of it. Once you do, you'll probably not want to pick up that enfield.

lol. Getting shot at is part of the game. Suddenly remembering you need to feed your cats is not. Abusing the game mechanics to stay alive is not part of the game either. Why do I get the feeling you log out on zombies too? If I check your post history, am I going to find your complaining about being spawned on the coast with all your gear?

Yes it is. That's why you tried to combat log. Again, if you want to avoid hackers, find a good whitelisted server. 99% of the problem is solved right there. Bandits are going to bandit. I feel combat loggers are worse problem than bandits and I'm a friendly player. Yes, it's called "running away from the fight" not "disconnecting like a coward".

Are you filtering for 1.7.5 servers? I haven't installed the update but I don't see that arma splash screen unless I launch Arma by itself, without the mod. Are you certain you're joining with DayZ enabled?

To be honest, the most fun I've had recently was in the middle of the night, in pitch black darkness, in the middle of a storm on a BB server with nothing but flares and the occasional lightening strike to show me the way. Every time I felt lost I would sit still for a minute and let the lightening show me the way. It was so good that I felt it was scripted. Prior to this, the sound and light in the distance of an approaching storm was so fitting that I stayed up late just to shoot at zombies with a crossbow. But the countryside should still be beautiful during the day but I don't think that's going to change. If anything I have a feeling that this will be enhanced. If you can look past the history of carnage. :)

If I see an ATV, I leave it for the next guy. The next update will give us an option to flip it but I still wouldn't take it.

I strongly recommend firing up the boot camp and armory to learn the controls and setup your graphics. Finding a key setup that feels natural to you is more important than knowing where to find a weapon.

We were all noobs to the game and genre at one point. It's brutality is probably what kept a lot of us playing.

I look for anything that acts as a barrier to keep the script kiddies at bay. Active admins and whitelisting does a good job of that. Additional maps or DayZ mod mods are a bonus.

Oh, you're not interested in updates to the mod. I must have gotten confused when you mentioned the lack of updates for the mod, twice now. Silly me. I guess if 1.7.4 wasn't fancy enough for you then you shouldn't bother even looking at the 1.7.5 change log.. because.. you know.. knowing what you're talking about it is pointless. :|

I'm more interested in the terrain than large cities. Give me north eastern Utah, northern New Mexico, or anywhere in the Rockies (done right, ahem). Mexico and Canada also have some interesting landscape, If they do an island I hope they avoid the Caribbean and look to the North Atlantic.

You know you can go test the pre-releases of the 1.7.5 update right? You're a well spoken and opinionated fellow and I have no doubt that your feedback would be invaluable to the people who are developing the mod in their spare time, for free. Blah, your entire argument reminds me of the "we wantz updatez nows" nonsense that was being posted during the holidays. I feel like a jerk now. I misread your post OP. Photoshop is always good but Gimp is free. I haven't used the gimp in a while but a lot of what I learned there helped me in PS. If you guys come hunt us some night I'll take a crack at it myself. :) Who's this Pacifist guy?
