This would be something more aimed at the standalone where we wont see those kinds of stupid settings. All servers with this difficulty would be setup in identical fashion. For the mod.. I'm not sure it would be popular since there wouldn't be starter gear, 24/7 daylight, and free Girlscout cookies. I think the main drawback would be finding admins willing to connect their servers to this type of network since there wouldn't be a community to help support the server cost. -

Where'd that bit about spawning in Stary come from? I checked the thread and didn't see it and I know I didn't post it. :) Anyway, it should be purely an optional difficulty setting for servers. No one would know if there was only 2 or 100 players on the server. That should help increase the paranoia a bit. No silly side chat, obviously no death messages or any of that nonsense. Just you, an unknown environment and whatever gun and friendly you're lucky enough to come across. TS still has its place and it does help build communities and communities support the servers we all play on. -

Tunngle or OpenDayZ might be better places to search and ask. Hey guy. You don't have to follow your own threads. You only need to: 1) View your content to find your threads and posts. 2) manage your forum settings to get notifications when you've been quoted. or 3) Only have a total of 3 posts. Don't be a dick. -

I remember waaay back in the day when we had to actually dial out to play online. We didn't have two phonelines so my buddy and I got our hands on some voice activated walkie talkies with headsets. We owned Doom2 until the batteries ran out. Point being, even if TS was somehow banned... people still have phones and a lot of us probably have another computer laying around to run TS on. Not to mention there would plenty of workarounds that would pop up overnight. Third party coms are here to stay whether we agree with their use or not. -

Banned? Definitely not. But I'm still hoping for a difficulty setting that hides the server name, player list, and any other identifier. :) Some of the best times I've had was playing as a lonewolf early on and being completely immersed in the loneliness of the game. -

Try messing with the _nohq image. You can get a lot of subtle detail like crumples and even a paper/fabric effects with it. For example, the rings on the sides of the tin cans in the communityassets are simulated this way. Editing it by hand can go a long way to show you how it all works and ties together but you might need a plugin to create your own proper _nohq texture in the Gimp. There's some decent modding tutorials for Skyrim that explain a lot of the same maps in a friendly way. They're worth watching if you want to pick up a bit of knowledge and if you just like to watch people make cool stuff. They've actually inspired me quite a bit and I'm going to try my hand at modeling in 3ds Max again when I try to mod Arma3. -
