    New Renderer

What would doing that serve? Seems to me they're adding what completed aspects of the game as they are completed. Other features that depend on other aspects of the engine cannot be added until they're stable enough for public builds. If they didn't add anything at all until the engine was complete we'd still be looking at what we had at day one, which some blindly complain is the case, and we wouldn't have yet filed reports and had those bugs fixed. If your only gripe is map additions then that still boils down to what bugs we can find with new structures and layouts being held off until 2-3 years later How does that support development again? Personally, I'm more than pleased to see what work Senchi and team can do. I bloody love the north of the map and can't wait to see what they do with the rest of it. At the very least it gives me insight in what they'll be able to do from scratch. Bring on new Cherno. The renderer is, along with the rest of the engine. Just because the team responsible for completing the map (relatively easy considering) is knocking out bits here and there doesn't mean the guys that are building the engine are behind. If you read what is available about the RV engine or DayZ development you would understand what it takes to disconnect the renderer from the old engine and how it cannot be showcased in piecemeal.

    New Renderer

Another one of these threads. yay. https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/215848-dayz-moving-into-2015-roadmap/?p=2317653 The people that use the concurrent player numbers as something to prop up their opinion of this game simply have never looked at the concurrent numbers of any other game and likely don't understand the number anyway.

TENTS and PERSISTENCE, Keep-Out PUBLIC SERVERS and THE DEVS

The devs are aware of the issue. Have been for some time. I could probably dig up the very first report of this but proof of their awareness is already in the Status Reports if you read them. I was going to give you a hint at how and why but I really don't want to contribute to the problem. The Public Hive was a feature of the mod. it was not the reason people came to play it. Most people abandoned the public hive of the mod long before the SA was even on Steam. The private servers I play on are full 18 hours out of the day. It's mostly just people that want to hop for loot and the people that prey on that behavior that stick to the public hive now. Anyway, your suggestion would make server hopping, server wipes, and join=kick servers far worse as the loot dries up as all the good stuff ends up in tents and barrels. I'm certain the devs could include stored items in the economy but I'm certain they're aware of what would happen if they did. I imagine you'll be able to mod that in yourself at a later date if you think it's that big of an issue but I doubt this is going to end up in vanilla.

TENTS and PERSISTENCE, Keep-Out PUBLIC SERVERS and THE DEVS

By not wasting your time playing on hopper, duper, ghost, glitcher, server loot cheater, and hacker infested public hive you solve the problem very quickly. Limiting loot to include what is stashed will quickly dry up the weapons and gear as the most dedicated players will stockpile everything and currently there are way too many ways for people to cheat their stash into impossible to get places unless you yourself choose to glitch to get at them. Good luck with that considering the number of places this can be done. This would effectively ruin the loot on every single server, both private and public. The public hive is a silly idea anyway. Stick to private hives with good admins and save yourself from being cheated by the majority of prickholes.

DayZ SA Modding: A New Map

Yeah, I can't think of any example of an armed populace defeating a much better equipped enemy. We should just roll over if a tyrannical government rose to power. Wait.. no, I'm pretty sure that's also covered in those book things I mentioned.

That must be the death map.

    Ethical Hunting

I never kill an animal unless I can take the meat. I was under the impression we needed a barrel to tan the hide? Is this the case? You. I like you.

    Have we forgotten our roots?

But you don't. I haven't farmed out of necessity, ever. I did it once to test it. That was the end of that. Complicated medical system? How is it complicated? I still haven't bothered to fish in 1400 hours. None of that is required to survive and I think that's probably the biggest problem. This game is far too easy. I know I have a lot of experience playing it but the biggest risk I face is walking on rocks. I don't even worry about players because the majority of them can't shoot straight or rely on getting really close with an automatic weapon. I worry more about sprinting into a rock that is too close to a tree or that one odd rock that doesn't have its LODs set properly. The devs need to crank up the brutality. Remember the proud average lifespan that headlined the mod webpage? I somehow doubt the average lifespan, outside of the mindless deathmatchers, is less than a week at this point. Crank up the cold, reduce food by at least half, reduce all those ridiculous military weapons, and make the limited zeds more dangerous (even if just for now). This game is too easy.

    Sugestion and petition

my issue with this comes from dupers, cheaters, hackers, and people that think they need more than a RAK to solve a problem. As someone juggling this very problem on Prison Island without boats, I don't think we should be able to carry more than one core primary. The decision to pick weapons based on value to carry back to camp should be a judgement call, at THIS point. Allowing people to carry 3 primaries is a bit much at this time. Perhaps in the future when I fully expect modding to allow obscene amounts of weapons to be carried back to camp. In vanilla, no, I think we should have to make a judgment call over which 2 we can carry, or which 1 if we have to swim. Currently, it'll only allow more and more loot farming, something we already have a problem with considering recent threads.

When did they break Archery ?

Perhaps, just maybe, it got boinked as they change the way all guns are reloaded with the new system outlined in the past Status Report?

"Login Protection Period" of 10 seconds or until you move.

Obviously it does not reflect everyone's experience as there are still a small group of people who whine about dying when logging in. Logging out in a safe place works. If someone is having computer crashes, router crashes, electrical storms over their homes, hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, or continuously has the server reset on them in high risk places then I would suggest they run off down to the local witch doctor to have whatever curse that is plaguing them lifted before something actually bad happens to them.

"Login Protection Period" of 10 seconds or until you move.

I have. I see a few people whining about dying when logging in and others clearly explaining why the suggested system would be exploited, exactly how this discussion has gone since 2012. Logging out in safe place solves the problem because in my 4000+ hours of mod and standalone play I haven't been killed logging in or out since the wee days of the mod. Obviously it works. Oh, and for server crashes and kicks? Quit playing on public so you can server hop for gear or accept the risk. Problem solved. As for game crashes, I must be lucky, I never crash. :/ Now, maybe go give that attitude to someone who hasn't seen this topic a hundred times before instead of someone who actually played the game when various solutions were attempted by the different teams.

"Login Protection Period" of 10 seconds or until you move.

I haven't been killed while logging in since the early days of the mod. Log out in a safe place.

Seems to be an issue with Gameservers.. servers. At least the official ones.

    Dayz Reviews on Steam

Steam reviews are mostly memes and uninformed nonsense from kids that thought they were buying a finished game or the Overpoch Standalone.

    [Clarification] DayZ Server Monetization

If anything, the biggest disappointment I have with this system is the likely increase in scummy mod "makers" like the Origin folks. At best it will cause modders and map makers to be far more protective of their code and assets. We'll just have to wait and see how BI handles the monetization of stolen assets and code that will definitely occur.

    Map fixes

Learn to use the compass and in game map and how to read the terrain. I'm willing to bet I could find myself within a few meters on a brand new map with a completely random spawn if I had both a compass and map. It's not hard.

    Primitive Technologies

I'm aware early man was able to do it, but a modern man has no clue how and to do it effectively like our ancestors is even harder. It's not about finding a couple "rocks" either. Finding the right materials is harder than just a stick int he woods and a rock from the ground. Anyway, there's enough games will silly crafting like that. DayZ should avoid it.
  25. sausagekingofchicago

    Primitive Technologies

Crafting something like an axe that you could really use, or one that lasts, requires a lot of skill in real life. I know this is a game but I'd hate for it to be too easy for someone to craft tools like that. That said, I'd love to be able to craft an animal bladder canteen and use more parts of the animals (or survivors) for survival. I'm sure this will come over time and if not, hell, mods are going to be a big deal here anyway. If you read the updated bit in post two they outline what is going on. Hicks' PAX presentation goes into even more detail. A lot of the focus is on getting the engine complete and many of the systems are dependent on each other in one way or the other. I also expect them to continue fleshing out the features they've already laid the groundwork for. Once all the core bits of the engine are done I'm sure we'll start seeing smaller things like better crafting and the likes. I don't think the devs are trying to deceive us at all.
