Getting out of Cherno alive should be a task only suited for the best of players. Looting a chopper crash site should be for the skilled or well-prepared. Getting to NWAF should be a nightmare. This easy mode stuff.. bores us. I'm glad to see you're thinking about it more. Respekt. Take whatever you think is too "hard" and multiply it by 3. The kids with either quit or wait for easy mode. The rest of us will survive. -
Thanks for talking down to me. I really needed that because it was missing from my life. Such quality response and contribution was greatly needed. If you grasped the question then perhaps you grasped what I was getting at? The negative impact of the current system will no doubt have bugs and is easily abused AND.... could potentially have a negative impact on the server and the server's population. I don't play on the public wreck of a hive but even on private I can imagine massive scale abuse in a number of ways based on the system described.. "by the thread". Jesus. Why does everyone think being a dick makes them cool? Next time, leave your shit talking at the door.

So what system is in place to prevent people from potentially abusing this? A group could easily relocate their camp, for honest or nefarious reasons, to a random public server and suddenly that server would potentially end up with more than the allowed limit for barrels on that server. Chances are, by now, there are very likely servers where the majority of barrels have been found and are already being used. Moving more barrels to that server would do what exactly? Delete old barrels? Glitch the new? If the former then obviously this could be abused. If the latter, then people might lose a barrel to the system which could be a big deal for someone who just found a barrel somehow and wanted to set it up on a server to call home. I don't want to even consider it but if barrels can be duped...

They did? Link? Delaying beta, or anything of value, for 3 or more months is something unheard of? Most AAA games get delayed much longer than that, just saying. Ya know what, I'd just like someone here to link me to any public experience of an engine being built in an Early Access phase. I could build on that even further and ask for any EA game with the focus of the development being the engine while maintaining a playable game experience of any type with anything remotely similar to the scope of this game. I get it, lolz, sausage is a fanboy, blah blah, but go ahead,and show me a legit comparison that I can study. Please, I feel like a fool when so many people point to a handful of knock-off games built on publicly available engines, in an attempt to capture the mod's (or more aptly the mods of the mod's) experience, in an absolute failure to understand what BI is doing. It's not as if BI is openly discussing what they're planning or what the end goal is. Oh, wait... Yes, they do. So please, someone, give me an example. I REALLY need it. inb4 dumb replies that I'll ignore because of UE4 or Unity that doesn't actually answer anything I just asked.

Nope. The devs posted a QA Q&A on twitter the other day and it was bombarded with none QA questions. They answer the console question a thousand times, post a longer answer explaining the console prototype, and they still get asked about console release stuff. In Status Report threads around the internet people ask questions that were clearly answered in that exact same Status Report. Hicks says "hopefully" twice when expressing the desire for an end of February .60 release and people lose their shit when it doesn't happen and scream about broken promises. People do not read. It really doesn't matter where the devs post information. People will still whine and cry. That said, I hope we'll see a bit more interaction here when modding arrives as we're going to have more technical questions then rather than the current "where iz updatz, y no m4" type stuff. -

Trolls aside, No tangible progress is working persistence, a working CLE system, many more vehicles since the last couple updates and renderer wip has been shown. I don't mind knowing for certain as long as it's not displayed during gameplay. I've been taking screenshots of bodies anyway so a number doesn't hurt to have an accurate total. No one has a screenshot of my body from .59 yet. Though, more survival-ish stats on top of the traditional mind-numbing statistics are welcome. -

To quote reddit: ITT, people who think the moderators and devs cannot ID people who have never participating in this forum before attempt to threaten the developers with a petty lawsuit over an obvious attempt to lure the lowest common denominator to their server with a false title. LOL. That is pretty much it. Please, pay an attorney many times your the amount you pay your server host to keep a name designed to break the rules with the most basic workaround that would lose in any court. Let us know. I think screenshots of emails would be amazing to see. TIL, Unless you are Pepsi, good luck with the Pepsi challenge. P.S., please post your server IP so I can report you constantly. -
For gameplay reasons, I'd prefer the zeds remain enraged humans that do not value their lives or well-being in any form. That makes them scary-ish in a real world setting and adds some to the immersion. Having something that will scare them off kind of diminishes their danger. In the mod we could use the night to our advantage as human eye sight was reduced and we could keep our noise profile down by managing how we moved. That too adds to gameplay even though most servers keep to daylight (another reason to avoid making zeds afraid of light). Not to derail but I'd rather have them react to tasers and non-lethal weaponry, have the ability to tie them up, or even bleed out from gun shots quicker than players due to their heart racing rage. Basically, a monster that doesn't care if it dies is scary, a primitive mind that fears fire is way too easy to overcome. Humans figured out how to use fire against its predators tens of thousands of years ago. Not so scary.

A quarter encompasses a lot of days. When the roadmap says Q1 it does not mean it will be available on Jan 1st. You also have to consider the console version is very low in priority considering the engine isn't done yet. They also said: which does not suggest it would be available for console during this period.

I'm less concerned with a likely rare rocket launcher, that may take your backpack slot for all we know and can easily just be turned off when modding arrives, as I am with the lack of discussion about proper admin tools. Currently attempting to police servers with the tools we have is an exercise in futility.

He's just looking at the .pbo files. It's not magic or hacking or anything like that. It's also not the source code for the engine or anything. BI titles package a lot of stuff in easily modifiable files that are read by the engine and nearly all modding comes from either editing those files or creating your own. I don't recommend tinkering with them if you don't know what you're doing. If you want to gain experience with them I suggest you start with Arma2 or 3.

I've used it since it was first available. I have no real complaints with it's functionality in its current state. I also understand it is unfinished and not even recommended for widespread use at this time. Basically, I prefer it but most people should just wait until it is finished. -

No thanks to text. A big hell no to voice. If it was voice the admin would spend their entire day kicking children and idiots. If it were text we'd be right back into the nonsense that ruined the mod a lot of the times where people would respawn and then give your position away in global. -
