    Smoke grenade followed by a slightly delayed grenade. Even a tin can can do wonders when looting.

    DayZ 1.8 Update

    I can run through Cherno with aggro on a 60 man 1.8 server and not care. Cherno is the coast, with minor reward compared to the map. The only reason to even go there is thanks to a local spawn, otherwise, blank it and move on. You don't need anything found there except medical supplies. Move north with care and you'll find the same gear and not deal with deathmatchers. If bandits are mobile in Cherno then they'll likely have aggro and they'll likely move like me, with zero care. That'll make them easy targets. Enough survivor kills and you'll be able to spot a bandit in the mod. In the SA, if you see someone carelessly moving around Cherno, then they're likely a danger. Pop them. I don't see the issue. Someone stealthing properly through Chenro isn't going to shoot the first person they see, especially if that first person is stealthing through Cherno properly. That should NEVER be easy. If anything, shooting a gun from on top of a building should be just as dangerous as shooting a gun in the store, without the magic shelves. I keep saying this but firing a gun in Cherno should be a death sentence no matter where you are, bush, building, or hole.

    I have to agree about the zipper. I've opened my bag qutie a few times and it still manages to scare the crap out of me. I consider that a free scare. :D I find the new infection system to be quite challenging and I enjoy that greatly. Now that I've learned how to properly wipe I've been able to avoid getting sick. It also forces me to enter dangerous areas if i get sick before finding the necessities, which is nice. It may drive me into the den of bandits but it also drives me into teh den of bandits. So it's lose/win imo. Anyone who kills themselves because they're sick is missing the entire point of the game.

    Mexico is in North America. Still, I recommend everyone to google the maps and pictures of it. There are some gorgeous places to be found and very interesting terrain. Oh, and all the military grade weapons you want! :D

    You're not supposed to. Waypoints and starter maps ruin the experience. I found it much more fun having to use a compass and a map or even just a map to try to figure out where I was. That's just me though.

    One solution to the obvious abuse this system would come with would be to have one character bound to a specific server. The other character simply couldn't join that server. This way we could have our home server character and another for when our pals are not online.

    I'd like to see the tent or stash vanish completely but remain stored in the hive to be used as a random object to be spawned to a server at some later time. Like you said, we'd just find a way around that. This way we'd still find tents in the world but their loot would be different nearly every time. I giggled at "TS cheaters" though. Not much anyone can do about third party communication at this point. It doesn't need to be immediate and it would be pretty easy to tell if a player is within proximity to a tent so it wouldn't immediately despawn.

    That's a fair point. It still seems like we're adding an unnecessary boundary for a rest state to occur. Having to have all the given tools to start a fire just to view your character might turn out to be quite a obstacle to overcome. Now that I think about it though, that may be a reward in of itself. Heiduk lives. Wait... that's an option?

    Why bother? Because we can actually clear towns of zombies, even if it's temporary. As long as that's a challenge, it'll be something more than a few of us would like to show off. If you doubt that, just wait and see. Why not just a camp fire? Because not all of us play on 24/7 daylight servers. Perhaps you forgot there was a dawn, dusk, and dark of night? Anyway, I sure hope you were using "you're" in a broad general term rather than making an assumption of my playstyle and why I suggested this compromise in the first place.. That would be silly.

    I'm a manual install kind of guy which sucks when it comes to Steam screenshots but I have no real complaints. I was just helping stir the pot until one of our Steam guys pops in. :) I do recommend trying each method completely if possible.

    I'm personally not a fan of any type of autorun. If the rest state required sitting still for 15 minutes in a city and only a few minutes in the wilderness then I don't see a lot of abuse coming from it in towns. I also don't see a lot of people using the rest state in a town if the zombies are hardcore. I also suggest having some type of stance limit on the rest state. We don't want a guy to get on top of a building just to sit still for 15 minutes to get a prone rest state that sweeps the area. That wouldn't really help. Perhaps a view distance change could accompany the rest state? Or to use a part of an earlier suggestion, only objects within a certain distance would render in the rest state?

    That would depend on how a "rest state" would be defined. Even if the hospital in the middle of town would be part of that definition, how fast would the rotation be and would that actually be useful to some fool sitting on a roof? Perhaps a rest state would take longer to achieve in a city than out in the wild?

    I read something like that but it's all theory to most of us. Did they upgrade all the LODs for the various structures and objects? I was rocking a bottom feeder 2.4 dual core with a 9500gt and I had to crank everything down to get playable frames. I didn't know what kind of disadvantage I was at or how awful the textures looked until I upgraded. With the old rig, fp was sickening. Seriously. With the newer system, I kill with impunity. With FP, framerates are key. The headbob plays a huge part in that.
