Interview with Origins development lead Kinghunt

Feel free to counter my original points individually, if needed, when you've had enough rest. Until then we'll pretend to ignore everything about GamersPlatoon, Martin, the threats of lawsuits, the shady mandatory server provider, GP lifting code from a pre-release community build (thanks for the inconvenience assholes), the reckless bans ala titov, and the lifting of code from competitors and other active modders.. without permission... for profit. It's terrific that so many people want to play Origins. That's great. A lot of people play Pokemon too. What's that got to do with the price of tea in China?

    Waypoints ?

Play it without waypoints. It's more fun.

Interview with Origins development lead Kinghunt

I really want to post a measured response like some of the fine gents in this thread, but I just can't seem to muster it up. Origins is, and has been since it's original copypasta, a negative force in the dayz modding community. I wouldn't be surprised to find out the ripples of corruption are already moving their way through the ArmA3 community. Your attempt to lay the blame on hosting providers, despite the massive evidence of dishonest behavior by the members of GP, makes me question your credibility. I find it hard to believe an honest person, who's looked into the matter even briefly, could somehow come to the hardened justifications you've posted. Your posts smell strongly of spin and considering my dog just puked up some kibbles on the rug after briefly glancing at the screen, I think I'm pretty much on the money. Pun intended. Hey, that was pretty tame. Let me fix that.

    Just saw Rocket again.

But the 2 minute jobs are still the best. :)

    Just saw Rocket again.

We inadvertently solved a mystery... but the world was left with more questions than answers.

    Just saw Rocket again.

    The evidence is mounting.

    GPS and Waypoints

Waypoints need to go. Moving across the map is far more fun and challenging without them.

    We look for the standalone?

How customizable should clothing/character customization be?

I'm a huge fan of mismatching shoes.

    DayZ SA not being moddable

Last time I checked, DayZ wasn't meant for the mass market anyway. If some people want to play Baseville then let them enjoy the mod until the SA is actually complete. After that, have at it. The reason the various pop mods even exist has a lot to do with Rocket's original vision of what DayZ is/was/should be. Luckily for us, BI got behind him and he's off making a game that most of us have been waiting for. So why don't we wait and see how that works out before wanting some watered down mod with ridiculous features? And.. if I were Rocket I would probably include a nice paragraph or two in my UA that bans the douchebags and their associates that dropped turds all over my work from modding or hosting the SA.. but that's just me.

Ideas that could make DayZ Standalone great.

I'm just holding out for hobo bikes.

I figured it out (release date of SA)

I hope they tell us before I buy that turd. (god I'm bored)

    My cyberpowerPC expierience

Nice system but I would have added a SSD to the mix . I think I have that keyboard and it sucks. Otherwise, nice. My system is almost identical and I've had no issues at all to date. Take advantage of the optical audio S/PDIF port on your motherboard. :) I had mostly positive experiences with cyberpower. If you do want a rushed delivery or rushed build, make sure you order over the phone. Add those options on at the end after you've been given a ship date and make sure all the parts you want are in stock right at the time of ordering.

    DayZ SA not being moddable

It's not that we, I presume, think modding is a bad thing. It's just we've seen what has happened with DayZ the mod. Speaking for myself only, I've seen modders take what was once a game of survival and turn it into all sorts of abominations. (perhaps this is how the hardened ArmA vets view DayZ? :) ) As a guy that's dabbled with the most basic editing of Arma, I appreciate the amount of work the talented individuals have put into their various mods (...including the guys who ctrl-v'd most of their mod into existence, sort of). But it seems like every mod of DayZ that I've played, with the exception of 2017, has taken the game in a direction away from survival. Survival was the core aspect of the game, especially in the early days when we were all just learning the ropes. The first rule of DayZ may be 'don't get attached to your gear' but the second rules must be 'forget the gear, try to survive the zombies you know nothing about and all the bored guys with better guns'. We've all beat that hour and nine minute life expectancy five hundred fold but why was that originally tracked? Was it to keep track of the base we were building? The custom cars we were crafting? The magic safe we putting guns into? No, it was to track how long you could survive. So why would modding be a bad thing for DayZ right out of the gate? Because the game would be immediately nerfed to fit the lamest desires of the average gamer. Anything labelled "gamebreaking" or any feature that was perceived as a "f$*@&* game ruining mistake" by "$^&*#$* rocket" would get modded out. Anything too "hard" or any guns that were used to repeatedly murder players would get nerfed. Then there's the asshats that come in all sizes, from Titov to the GamersPlatoon, that would take the code, creativity, sweat, and tears, and turn around and try to profit off of it by modding in some pay to win lameness or hocking some exclusive 'server rental' fees. Oh, and how many times have you seen a new guy ask what version he should play? I'm honestly waiting to read "I can't find the DayZ:Vanilla on DayZCommander, help!" thread. Modding shouldn't really be allowed until after the game is considered "done".

    Dean says...

Well, there IS a release date waiting out there whether any decision maker knows it or not.

    DayZ SA not being moddable

allowing the SA to be moddable would be a huge misstep. Origins sucks.

Bad lag in Cities and near people...

    graphics settings?
  22. sausagekingofchicago

Will hackers really be subdued in SA? Not likely.

At first I thought someone necro'd this thread, Ozelot and all. Nope.

Bad lag in Cities and near people...

    complete specs?
  24. I actually support this guy but I still find it hilarious that he's crying about his work being used in other mods that people are making money from while supporting Origins. lmfao guy.
