I'd say not too long after it's finished. I can't imagine porting it would be too difficult considering what the new gen consoles actually are.

Not really. I've recovered from starving in the past but it took a lot of food and drink, which is hard to come by. It's not impossible though. Once the warning is red you're pretty much screwed though.

I've had many encounters so I'll just post the one that stands out the most as the first is lost to memory. I was looting through the Vybor military base when I saw a player run into the military brig building. He was wearing one of those stupid bandit masks but I had a Mosin in hand and an M4 on by back while he was unarmed. Cautiously, I approached and ordered him to drop the mask. I come around the corner and see he had just put on a different mask. I lol'd a bit and backed off and let him go on his way even though I had the upper hand by a kilometer. As he was sprinting away I put a shot over his shoulder to let him know who was king, and to help him with his bowel movement. Finally took my first SA kill this morning but that's a different story.

Let them. Hell, I'm tempted to encourage those type of players to do this. When the the hammer falls their tears will be delicious.

Don't worry too much about combat loggers. You're simply doing it wrong if you're playing to survive and you're running into a lot of combat logging.

I think hearing random gunshots and seeing people that weren't really there would do wonders to the mental state of players. :)

there's always that. I think the ideal system goes something like this. Standing, third person. Crouched, camera is pulled in halfway. Prone, forced first person. Gun in hands, camera pulled in halfway. Aiming down the sight or weapon up, forced first person. I think that's the best compromise I've come across.

You'd need a pretty extreme drought to dry up wells like that.

Fueling one of those things would take ages with a 5L can. :)

Private hives create bigger problems for smaller groups of people.

Separate hives. Anyway, I still believe third person makes its far harder for bandits to get the jump on you which makes it easier for you but harder for them. The flipside of the coin, it makes it easier for bandits to get a drop on people who refuse to use third. edit: Lots of ideas and solutions have been proposed for this. I strongly suggest everyone search for the various threads and read them for yourselves. It'll help progress the debate.

I just force feed myself a shirt. That solves most problems. Try other servers. That hallways sounds familiar and two of those doors should open. Also make sure your version of the game matches the server. If they don't you won't be able to open doors. edit: question, can you see through the walls?

Personally I think 24/7 daylight ruins the DayZ experience in the same way spawning with a map, compass, gun, pack, food, drink, shoes, socks, boats, cars, bananas, kiwis, and a locked safe does but what the hell. 24/7 daylight. Oh, it also ruins it in the same way admins insist on resetting their servers every other hour. I'm just strange I guess. /rant

See, that's what I enjoy. Not knowing if my next character is going to survive. Making that part of the game any easier would be a mistake. I'm glad our first priority isn't to find a gun.
