    Cowboy Hat

I don't think it's big enough. It has to hold at least a couple gallons of water to be realistic.

What is, or will be, the point of this game?

Drop your gear and leave the coast. The game will find you eventually.

Possible solution for the nametag problem

Not shooting friendlies is a skill. The only nametags I support:

When do tents arrive? (Sorry of redundant, new here)

hoarding isn't bad. Hopping and farming to fill tents is imo. as i said, they need to reconsider the mechanics of it. If you die, you shouldn't magically know where to run to regear with zero effort. That's honestly my biggest issue with it. Luckily, we have hardcore and regular so who knows what will come of it all. I agree, getting raided and raiding camps is fun. There is no denying that. :)

    Stuck

Seems like the devs are tinkering with the database a bit as the last push broke some hive connections. :|

    Stuck

Try changing your default character and then rejoin. Heard that might work.

When do tents arrive? (Sorry of redundant, new here)

Hopefully after they spend a lot of time considering the mechanics of how they should work because it's just shit to let loot hoarders run back to their tent, filled with gear they server hopped/farmed to fill, after they die. It is fun to find someone's camp though. A lot of fun.

Constant PVP ruins the fun of this game

KoS is just part of the game. You'll have to wade through (aka get shot by) a bunch of level 1 KoS players to find the truly clever players but when you do, it's usually far more entertaining for everyone involved. So you can give in and join the plebs in shooting anything that moves like a coward or hold off on firing that shot and risk your gear in the hopes something of substance awaits. Most people can't hit shit anyway so play smart and you can avoid the beach.

    My Last Rant

You know, I think this is one of my favorite aspects of DayZ. Everyone experiences something completely different.

Why DayZ is no survival game

I'm going to have to break my leg on some stairs. Haven't had that happen since the mod but I always found it highly entertaining to roleplay Daniel Plainview.
  13. I'd love to see this as well but the DayZ modding community has had a host of problems including theft of others work, hooking for GP, pay to win garbage, and general douchebaggery. Luckily, we now get the steam workshop to play with and rocket has mentioned they've figured out how they're going to handle mods and private hives. Perhaps that'll help avoid some of the poor behavior that plagued the mod. (sort of off topic i suppose) For the record, the devs use a wide range of 3d modelling software, from blender to maya. You can convert most of the work done in those programs to a format compatible with oxygen with some simple plugins.

Duplication exploit - need for global wipe?

I just need a water bottle, a can opener, and some bandages so a wipe doesn't really bother me. Bring it.

In-game sound needs to be re-worked

Test it. And people will consume soda in that manner. :)

In-game sound needs to be re-worked

So, this seems like the perfect place to put my insanity on display. Since day one, I've always assumed the "random" sounds of opening cans, stacking ammo, popping the top off a nice and warm soda, eating, and the random zed sounds were actually generated by other players within your character's neatwork bubble. The changes in volume for each depended on the players distance from your character. If you pay attention, these sounds will always play louder in high population areas. This, so far, perhaps by pure luck, has allowed me to judge the distance of anbther player. Judging the volume of the random sound along with my location on the map, I could usually guess where the offending player was. So far, it's been rather accurate. Again, this could be purely a coincidence. I've been known to be a bit off at times so take this with a grain of salt. I live by it but you guys shouldn't.

Coders and artists make terrible sound designers.

How Many People Were Killed By You?

    less than five
  19. I have it on a hotkey. At the first sign of danger the screen goes completely dark.
  20. I actually like the idea but instead of a beret why not do this with the burlap sack?
  21. I've been watching their development webcam and all they do is practice their twerking, Matt is pretty good at it, and count money. It's like one of those cash room scenes from any good Vegas heist movie, but with more nudity.

DayZ is NOT fun for new players, which makes me worried.

It's rewarding because it's punishing. Your friend needs to spend some time playing solo before trying to join the big dogs. Besides, some of the best experiences in this game are found only when you're an absolute new player.

    less militarised more improvised

They're not going to completely remove the weapons and it sounds like early gameplay will definitely focus more on improvised weapons, which will actually be nice when zeds start respawning on the coast.
