So many banditos.

Turn Alpha to Coverage off in game and this annoying effect goes away. It impacts overall graphics a bit but it's far less distracting. I'm still tweaking my graphic settings but I least I don't have to look at that ugliness.

OP could drown in an ocean of beans and it still wouldn't feel appropriate.

Love How Everyone Is An Expert

Yeah. I expected instant results as well. Instant. Like, immediate because that's how things work. :/ -
Zombies running through walls?
sausagekingofchicago replied to Harri's topic in New Player Discussion
Where do you get your facts? Zeds are being worked on at this very moment. When the noclip is fixed, I hope they make them even more dangerous as they're far too easy to deal with atm. -
Yesterday I played the Mod after 200 hours of Standalone.

Logged into the Musty DayZ mod server and nearly crapped my pants. I've grown soft playing the SA. :) -
waiting for cooking AKA zeds are actually too strong..

I wouldn't say "pinpoint" but with some experience you can accurately nail an aggro'd zed in the head almost every time. -
I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!
sausagekingofchicago replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
There is nothing that says "easy mode" more than an bloody auto-run key. Come on people. Is holding a key down too hard? -

Sal's 13 Rules For Lone Wolves
sausagekingofchicago replied to TheSalamander's topic in New Player Discussion
Great tips but I disagree with a few of them. I can't disagree with this more. Always keep your flashlight. Your first action should always be to place the battery into the light. Hold onto the flashlight like its your life. Unless you insist on experiencing only part of the game, by only playing on 24/7 daylight servers, should you ditch the flashlight. The game is much more immersive at night. Use your flashlight and remember rule #1 of DayZ, do not get attached to your gear, but use it smart. Only use it when you really need it. You do not need it if you're running across an open field. Again, I disagree. Any gear you have is not worth you wasting your time. Depending on your location and server, you can freely move about but be smart. You can run across an open field to a town, after observing it for a while, but don't run blindly around corners once you get there. Standing also offers the fastest player movement and that half second you save by not needing to stand up can be the difference between life and death. You do not need to carry more than a water bottle or a couple sodas unless you're exploring the unfinished sections of the map. Wells and ponds can offer ample supply until we're required to purify water. Don't bother picking up every bit of ammo. Even when I do find a gun I never carry more than a stack. You'll likely never use more than a few mags or a few rounds depending on your weapon, especially if you're new. While you may think you're depriving other players of ammo by gathering up everything you see, you're only really feeding into the server hopper bandit games by preventing others from defending themselves. (if you're actively holding down a town rather than passing through, gathering up everything dangerous is a smart move) Besides, all you're doing is delivering loot to campers, hoppers, and mindless deathmatchers if you repeatedly pick up gear and die. Great advice here. But why fire unless you're in absolute need? Even then, what do you really have to lose if you called out from cover? You're going to die a lot no matter what you do, why not try to experience something other than what you can find in all the other shooters on the market? Keyword: Try Knives, while almost useless against zeds, can also open cans of food and are almost guaranteed to cause bleeding in other players. So can the axe but do you really want to dull your melee weapon by opening cans of food? Nope. Pick knives and screwdrivers up. Only avoid them if you're set on food, clothing, and bandages. -

What has the standalone become ?
sausagekingofchicago replied to poooz's topic in General Discussion
If hacking was that bad Frankie would have showcased more than one. I've personally never seen a hacker in the SA in all my hours. I did see a guy walk through a hangar wall but it could have just as easily been desync. As for shooting Frankie, I would have done the same thing just to say I did it. I personally would never hand a stranger a loaded weapon. That's just dumb. -

Definitely not. It'll be "why didn't they get the new team to work on vehicles!?! even a bike! $)*#@(#@$)" or something along those lines. -
How often do you sever hop?
sausagekingofchicago replied to king_of_the_beans's topic in General Discussion
Never. I do try a new server every time I login but I'll stick to one server until it resets or I need to do something else. Otherwise, I stick to one server until I'm done. -

How the hell did you guys even try the new patch?
sausagekingofchicago replied to Rick1633's topic in General Discussion
A fix is on the way as it appears they may have already found the problem. Until then, try verifying your cache and then restarting steam. nix that. had a flawless game earlier but now i'm back to having connection issues. sadface -
When it says 'wait for host' you should wait for host as waiting for the host for a few minutes actually gets you in the game.

Standalone Discussion/Critique from an Old DayZ Fan.
sausagekingofchicago replied to TOPMO3's topic in General Discussion
Solid discussion gents. I've found I intentionally gimp myself while playing lately. Even early on I would ditch my pack or drop my vest on a road somewhere (perhaps some lucky guy stumbled upon it) but lately I've been ditching such treasures as the fireaxe and resorting to punching zeds to make life more difficult in Chernarus+. I drop these items to force myself to pick and choose what I really need to carry, to force myself to decide if I need that extra roll of bandages or that extra mag. I even try to carry one book just to make the loot choices hard. I've even found myself opening fire on zeds in fresh towns just to burn off ammo, which can lead to greyed out screens of potential death as quite a few zeds come running at me from various directions. I even ditch the weapon once its out of ammo. I now play on hardcore servers not for the "hardcore" challenge but for the impact on the view certain gear such as the down coat or larger backpacks provide. All of which makes my game more challenging and enjoyable for me as I have no desire to hunt freshspawns on the coast. I do this for the fun and I strongly suggest this to anyone who feels they've mastered the basics of what I consider level 1 of DayZ. Do I need to? Obviously not, but I find this to be the only real survival challenge at my skill level while I wait for the threat of soaked clothing, the need to remain indoors during storms, the coming need to warm up next to camp fires or die from hypothermia, and the hunting and hopefully skinning of animals. I see the changes they're adding and I see the potential for long lasting survival challenges. So I wait. I don't mind, I see the steady progress and I trust in rocket's vision and the talent at BI. As for zeds, they don't offer a decently geared player much challenge at the moment but they're simply not complete. There is work to be done on that front and I expect them to change quite a bit over the next six to twelve months. A lot of players never get to experience them properly because other players decimate their numbers shortly after a server restart. They will respawn, eventually, and that'll offer quite a bit of challenge, especially when their AI and pathing gets some real attention. Until then, I'll wait for diseases, wish for randomly damaged wells, and box zeds like a young Mike Tyson while mocking their inability to get up in direct chat. -
What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

Mic will not work on Direct Chat
sausagekingofchicago replied to strayshadow's topic in Troubleshooting
Go to configure and then click on audio. Note the current audio volume setting on the slide bar and then click on the auto adjust. Follow the instructions. When done, see if it changed the mic volume at all. If it did, the game is picking up your mic so at least its not an external issue. You may also want to double check your mic key binding. -
Will DayZ SA die out to Mods just like the Mod did?
sausagekingofchicago replied to cywehner1234's topic in General Discussion
Depends.. will the mods offer the easy road of paid for 100% safe bases and starter gear? Hopefully not but we all know how people like to take the easy road. Even Blizzard has realized this. I say, crush anyone who tries to give freshspawns or players anything for money. That'll beat down the paytowin mods with a quickness. -
A2 wasn't released until after DayZ you silly horse.
