What can be done about ghosting on public servers?

I'm still a fan of the 10 minute login timer that so many people cried about.
  2. It's about as gamey as having a player list or knowing how many people are on the server. It's a useful tool to ID and ban hackers as well.

Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]

Dude, you're hurting the game's feelings with your harsh remarks.

Admit it. You were banned and this is your new account right?

    Some things never change.

Steak once asked me "what kind of stupid shit do people say on Steam" and I basically said what you said right here. It takes maybe.. three hits with any item to the head to kill zombies, Three hits MAXIMUM to kill them. I literally pick up teddy bears just to punch zombies with them and kill them with very little effort. Here's a pro tip, THIRD PERSON IS NOT ACCURATE, go into first person and kill zombies. There you go, I've given you the experience of someone who has almost a thousand hours logged and shockingly, it's the same tip that was available the day the game was first purchasable. Google translate: that dot is NOT the crosshair. Hope it helps!

    Status Report - 17 Feb 15

That's the gear I keep the gas to the floor, change to, and then dump the clutch on, especially in a rental. Edit: wait, no, that's all of them. back on topic:)

    Will DayZ Survive?

They're not "playing" the game. They're "testing" it for several hundred hours a year for their own amusement. It's different. :/

    Alternate means of transporting equipment

Vestception was an exploit and you server hopping item miners should be heavily punished by any system that comes next. For example, your cart or red flyer doesn't jump servers with you.and there should be a % chance of items lost if you hop out and come right back. If not purely for exploiting then for dragging down server performance with your nonsense.

    Alternate means of transporting equipment

There would need to be a trade off between capacity, stamina, and distance traveled. How much can the cart carry? Half of my capacity? in that case I see no reason to even bother? 1X my load? 1/4 speed? Maybe. 2X at half speed and a 3/4 stamina usage? Sure. Balance folks. Just adding a cart with X space doesn't really make the game.

I feel like neither the Mod or SA are for me any more...

I still can't see how having more enterable buildings is a bad thing. I can't really wrap my head around that at all. And so what if it takes 3 hours to loot all of Cherno, that is entirely your choice. I don't even go there myself and have no problem gearing up or surviving. I also don't have much trouble finding people to run into if I actively choose to. They're just not camping Cherno roof tops and watching the handful of locations where loot spawns. Oh no, the game is ruined. I'm also concerned by what you believe is a lack of development in the SA. It may not have been as fast as we all would have liked but to suggest they're not working on it is asinine. When people complain about the "direction" of the game changing I can't help but wonder if they were just playing it for the PvP or the survival aspect that Rocket had always pushed. Sometimes I wonder if they even played vanilla at all. The mod is still supported. I'm sure the people who work on it in their free time, as it has always been, probably love it when proclaimed fans of it believe it's dead. And who cares about the public hive for the mod. The vast majority of players abandoned it long ago to the hackers and server hopping combat logging idiots in favor of private hives.

That's what powdered milk is made of.

    DayZ TV Map problem

You should probably ask them about as that's not an official source.
  17. Wish I could make it that weekend. Will the panel be streamed?

Please don't duck with the current 'Hardcore' mode.

    Guys... guys. Calm down.

How is the outsourced zombie work coming along?

The other company is BI. Bi bought the studio and that studio is handling the AI. That's not exactly outsourcing.

    Do defibrillators even work?

Tried to kill someone with one last night. Didn't work. I'll stick to knocking them out and applying a bloodbag of the wrong type.

    This is a fake...right?

If they add skateboards before rollerblades I'm going to rage quit.

    Just saw Rocket again.

    Improvised Vehicles

There's a lot of discussion about improvised weapons and other tools but no one seems to want improvised vehicles crafted from everyday items. With some basic know-how you can build a simple but reliable vehicle out of every day items found around the home or your neighborhood. Small gas powered motors can be attached to almost anything with wheels. Bikes are the obvious choice but anything can do. This gentleman took a self propelled tiller and attached a small cart to it. It may be loud and slow but it sure beats walking right? It also has the some basic defensive capabilities.

Lead Producer of DayZ says, "1PP is better"

Well.. you know, you can't have an FPS without first person which is why DayZ has never been an "FPS". Yes, I'm the terminology police. :) Anyway, around we go once again gents. Surely this debate will finally be resolved with this thread.
