Oh I see your problem. You base a lot of things on assumption, huh. I'll go back and reread your posts factoring that weakness in. -

I'm not mad, just attempting to talk some sense into my fellow testers for their sake more than mine. My opinion is that many people in this thread (and generally in the forums of late) are expressing a sense of entitlement to things not owed them. I feel that there are unrealistic expectations being placed on the DayZ team, and you know what they say about expectation being the seed of resentment. Sorry if you have reflected on my argument and disagree. I like being proven wrong because it's an opportunity for me to evolve into being right. I have yet to hear a argument of any substance against my opinion, sadly. Once you put a penny in Rocket and team's pockets they will be accountable, but until then this remains the alpha of a free mod. That is where the conversation should begin and end. -

That's funny. Don't meet many opinionated retarded folks. Maybe you were just trying to take it to a personal level though. My opinion, which is certainly not the only thing that counts, is that a lot of people here are expressing that they feel they are entitled. Entitled to a free mod that has no bugs inherent in a mod where experiments and testing are actively occurring. I've done a few mods in my time, and if you haven't you have no fucking clue how many little things can go wrong and how hard even the most simple problem can be to fix. Usually it's the most ostensibly simple problems that have the most complicated solutions. I can only imagine the pressure of having a bunch of jackasses calling me out for every trial-and-error step that I can't address immediately. These people do express what I would consider an embarrassing degree of entitlement. Entitled to having the developer coddle to them in the forums, when he has been addressing these things in interviews (which may even reach a wider audience than the forums). Entitled to having the development team divide their efforts from the commercial product they are working on to fixing what they admit is an insufficient engine for a stand-alone product. Entitled to having things magically fixed in a time frame which they suppose is reasonable. Be happy DayZ existed in the first place. You wouldn't be posting if you hadn't enjoyed the mod in the past. If the testing environment is no longer entertaining you, stop playing. Don't demand that somebody jump when you tell them to, just because you don't understand what it is like to be balls deep in a massive fucking project with limited resources. Let me read between the lines for you- yes, the mod is on the back burner at the moment because the whole landscape of the project just changed drastically. Fucking hell. -

You didn't do shit but download a free mod. You're not special. Nobody owes you anything. Go watch the most recent IGN interview if you want details concerning the mod and the stand-alone. Take some responsibility for yourself and stop demanding shit from people who owe you nothing. 1.2 million people have downloaded the mod, and you are ONE of them. How can you even read yourself typing this shit and not feel like a chump? -

svenbreakfast replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Rocket has been addressing all of this in interviews. He probably figures since you idiots care so much you would pay attention to those interviews. Entitled, "special", little babies. Being in the military is a job, but it's also one of the only jobs where most things are taken care of for you by somebody else. Good luck in the private sector without a horn to tell you when to sleep. -

svenbreakfast replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ok. Seems like the mod has been abandoned in favor of the standalone. What do none of you have jobs where you can only afford to devote resources to one thing at a time? Should they HIRE people to work on the FREE mod? Do you think ANYBODY cares more about DayZ Mod than the team currently hammering out the stand-alone? I don't say this lightly. You people are entitled and worse than that stupid. The only thing that makes your stance make sense is that you are youngsters without practical experience in the grown-up world. -

svenbreakfast replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No you don't. What dev in the fucking world is required to fix their alpha version once testing has run its course? The process is that you move on to beta once you have identified the problems via alpha testing. What is so hard about rational thought? -
Because I'm sure the team is really focused on the mod right now. You think that "turn the mod into a stand-alone is written in red pen on the white board"? Not like they are working on one of the biggest releases of the decade, on a short timeline, for which the mod was an alpha test. The mod has problems having to do largely with its success as a free alpha test. People are bored with it and sick of bugs which are no longer the laser focus of the devs. Shocker? What the fuck do you think it was Dean Hall's Magical Eternal Free Entertainment Machine?

Is Mountain Dew bad luck?
svenbreakfast replied to "Lost" Alice's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Near where I make camp there is an old tent, abandoned near as I can tell. Every time get on DayZ I swing by and guzzle the can of Dew contained therein, which magically appears every morning, as if placed there by some Xtreme anti-tooth fairy. It may be that REAL (non-tent duped) Dew is deadly, but I'm going on 16 days survived and have been swilling that sweet asparagus piss colored elixir on a daily basis. -
Creationism, WarZ fanbioism- same type of shit. Critical thinking is hard.

What the fuck is up with zombie sounds when I injure them? I swear sometimes it sounds like they are jizzing. And it's right in your ear like a drill. I didn't see it in the suggestions here and on reddit, but really the zombies need some custom sounds for when they get hit. I have a nice mic from Russia, and would be glad to send some .wavs. This enhancement seems as simple as overwriting some files.

My friend had Mountain Dew today
svenbreakfast replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes. I don't even know why really. I spend most of my time running in the woods, have great equipment, and no desire to prey upon my fellow man. It's a cerebral game, and I guess just being alive is enough content to keep me playing. I gave up a GREAT Hunnic campaign in Civ5 for this mod, right on the verge of the war to end all wars. I don't get DayZ because it makes so much sense. -
Am I the onyl one who LOVES this weapon
svenbreakfast replied to MGreenwald's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree big time. I have three stored, and carry one. My mag collection is up to the 40s. I wish they would let me replace the holo scope with an aimpoint though. I'd like the 203. -
Wanted: room mates for flat share in Cherno. Must be fabulous.

Yo Hetstaine, people used to clown metal too. At least dubstep isn't American Idol or fuking Justin Beaver! I dig those wicked bass lines :) -
Two DayZ facts. 1. You will die. 2. Your camp will be found.

A little honesty would go a long way...
svenbreakfast replied to Encrypted (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you are going to take the time to post you'd think you would take the time to check out the numerous interviews Rocket has been doing where he addresses everything and then some. Mods should start moving these threads to a new forum for idiots. -
So, I use hacks, this is WHY
svenbreakfast replied to manwitdaplan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, dude. It is unfair at first. That's the point of a survival game. That's why this is the first horror game that is actually terrifying. That's why when you survive the coast and get your basic gear you put your ass on the line going to the NWAF or Stary to get military grade weapons. You need to be stealthy and smart. You may need to be a good shot. When you do find your AS50 or silenced M4 you will be stoked, and suddenly the stakes rise because you don't want to die and lose it. You'll never know anything about that. Want to know why EVERYONE has great weapons? Because of assholes like you who spawn weapons and then promptly get killed/looted because you suck at playing the game. What you do ruins the game for everyone, but probably more importantly for you, it robs you of the experience of playing DayZ. Keep giving up on yourself and cheating to win. You deserve the fate that sort of thinking will lead you to. You probably don't give a fuck about that, and you shouldn't. I hope you don't, twerp. -
Why does every sniper I shoot at ALT-F4?
svenbreakfast replied to Jackftw's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I dunno, it's consistent with somebody who will lay prone for hours in hopes of an easy risk free kill of a random person. Chickenshit. -
DayZ is not free so stop saying it is.

You need to take some critical thinking classes. s of now you're an idiot, not in terms of lacking knowledge, but in terms of using your brain for reasoning. At least you can find solace in the fact that you're not alone. -
No bad man in the history of bad men has ever had to tell the world how bad he is. You're insecure. Work on it.

Alpha testing is over for mod
svenbreakfast replied to RECphantom's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hey Rocket, your mod has just gone pro and you're to assemble a crack team to knock out one of the most anticipated releases of all time. You only have three months. Oh, and some Russian prick is copying your mod and trying to preempt your release. By the way, when you get a chance, would you mind devoting to attention to the mod in an effort to bend the engine itself in order to turn the alpha into a stand-alone within the Arma2 engine? You see, people paid for Arma2 back in May, and they have only gotten a few hundred hours of playtime out of DayZ with it. You know how it is with money spent; it should keep paying off for eternity. These people are special, and their mom promised them that people would take very good care of them. Please don't test new stuff out in the mod either, because they hate change and new problems. They would rather see you experiment in the stand-alone where they can yowl at you that they paid for your game specifically. They like reasons for when they feel sad. Also promise to post every day in between meetings and PR and actually working. Do it on the toilet if you have to, just don't let them think you don't care about their repetitive whinging posts. Interviews don't count. You must address them directly on the forums. Asshole. I'm sure that most of the people who refuse to understand the simple situation here will be the first ones to run to the forums when they pay for the stand-alone and there are bugs. -
very serious counter hacking :)

Humor is hard to translate. I'd like to see these jokesters try to tell a joke on a German forum with a bunch of sarcastic bastards. I saw the humor, but keep in mind most English speakers are barely fluent as is. -

Too bad you can't just OD on morphine. Good luck. I've found that gently setting my pack down is a 50/50 proposition. -
Alpha testing is over for mod
svenbreakfast replied to RECphantom's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It is funny how people blame the mod. This thing spread by word of mouth. There was no marketing, and the mod was just so fucking cool that it exploded into the biggest gaming story of this young decade. This attracted FPS types and all the haxxors, lamers, griefers, non-testers, kids, and what-have-you's that come with it. You bought a game to play the alpha of a mod. That's what you did. Rocket developed a pretty damn playable alpha of a mod and made it free to download. That's what he did. He didn't sell you anything or even make an attempt to do so. Should there be a disclaimer on Steam that says "WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME JUST TO PLAY DAYZ BECAUSE THAT IS AN ALPHA OF A MOD AND YOUR GAMING EXPERIENCE IS NOT GUARANTEED"? Or, you could just use your mind to build this logic in to your decision to purchase arma2 like most people did. This is why school is important, kids.
