  1. I finally played some of the Arma2 campaign, and while I agree that assault rifles and especially exotic sniper rifles should be much less common, keep in mind that the area we operate in has just gone through a major war. I'm not 100% sure if DayZ is meant to proceed the conflict in Arma2. While running through the woods I attempt to piece together what's going on in this region. Almost every town is choked with the remains of military vehicles and there are roadblocks/military encampments all over. I kinda suspect that at some point somebody busted out a nasty bio weapon, and hence we now have a zombie problem. Given that DayZ is what happens after the war it would make sense that there are lots of military grade weapons lying around. That said, even if there were all out war followed by some sort of calamity, there wouldn't be so many high caliber sniper rifles available. M4s and AKs however would be everywhere, especially considering the scale of the military activity.
  2. Happened to me once. Eventually I got up.

    Just Bought/Installed PMC/BAF

PMC is quite fun. Haven't tried BAF just because I couldn't imagine combat in one of those red jackets.

how my 32 day char died.

My 21 day guy died by being crushed between a tent and a parked car. 75% of my deaths have been shit like this.

Sounds like you just got a quest.

    I'm.. I'm.. I'm a horrible person!!! *sobs*

Not impressive as troll or human being.
  8. Arma2 is fun. Most realistic tactical simulator I've ever seen, and the firefights feel very authentic. The environments are great, and the scope of the game is huge. Not to mention the first time I loaded up Arma2 I found that I was awesome, probably from so much training in DayZ fighting other players and being stealthy. Personally I don't like "pretending" to be a soldier, so shooting zombies is way more my speed.
  9. I keep a ghillie in my bag just in case I end up in a situation where I need the stealth advantage. In general I roll around in my hero clothes though, because a bandit is going to shoot me no matter what I'm wearing, where a cagey hero might decide shoot me in my ghillie just to be safe.

    Humanity should reset at death

    Tell that to a Hindu.

Hero skins have bullet proof vests?!

Being a bandit is MUCH easier than being a hero. That's why there are so many bandits. If hero's get a slight edge it could only even out the playing field.

    Standalone ( Music )

The dark ambient is amazing. I'd hit up Aphex Twin or somebody more lo-pro like Future Sound of London. Morgenstern or Winterkalte could be cool too as their ambient is fucked up. As much as I dig slow non-commercial dubstep or metal it just doesn't fit. Nothing with drums. On another note, vehicles need to have stereos that can access your MP3s. Every time I hop into my truck the conspicuous lack of Hank Williams is glaring.

    Roll on....hack free zombie fun!?

Well I hope WarZ works out for you. So far all indicators are that the game will be AWESOME! And you'll never miss an uzi that a cop might be carrying because of the electric blue realism outlines! I've only been hacked once before I took measures to be sure it never happened again. Isn't that what this game is about? Not making the same mistake twice?
  14. I've shot at plenty of players, but only a few times with intent to kill. I figure it helps them more to know they were spotted and get the little adrenalin rush that comes with having to react. I'll seldom let a careless player get away without a non-lethal hello. As far as being palsy with random people, I tried that once. Just once. Every one of the few square fire fights I've been in with bandits has ended in an alt-f4 on their part as soon as they lost advantage. My desire for "pvp" evaporated after the first couple of times that happened. Don't have a desire to kill people, but will shoot a bandit on sight if only because I associate them with their cowardly brethren.

Anyone high literally every time you playDayZ?

If I'm not at work I'm high.

How do you decide to kill somone?

It's important for me to keep my hero skin so that my fellow heroes don't shoot me or feel threatened by my presence. Only kill Bandit skins, for practical reasons as well as being a nice guy who wants good players to have a fun session without irrational murders.

    I quit.

Firing 4 shots with an AK would certainly be quite a hello to any sniper around as well.

    Cardio Skill Progression

The way I see it, one "skill" we should be able to improve is our cardio. The more you run the further and faster your character will be able to go. I don't think in any case you should be able to sprint indefinitely. A new character should have a normal ability to run, fast enough to get away from zombies, but only able to sprint about a mile before getting gassed. This would make the game more interesting, and make people think twice before just sprinting through a major city and attracting hordes with the knowledge that the only tool they need to deal with them is the W key. Overall it would make zombies a lot more dangerous for the right reasons.

    Cardio Skill Progression

    I'm picturing Roadhouse. :D

    Cardio Skill Progression

I agree there. That's why I put the term "skill" in quotes. I think any player who is alive for a few days should have run enough to get pretty good at it- be able to run/jog about 10 miles carrying a pack. Given that it is a realism game, stuff you could grind in real life you should be able to grind in the game. Things like how well you shoot or drive a car have built-in learning curves, running is one of the few things that could justify a sort of "grind". I'd rather say improvement over time, but I suppose any goal you place in front of people will be something they will seek to max in as short an amount of time possible. Would be fun to take shots at the min/maxer running in circles out in a field.
  21. It happens sometimes, and no where on the map is the middle of nowhere. Sometimes you gotta look really really hard and cover all the space a couple of times. I've had friends find choppers I'd looted and left and discover items I'd totally overlooked.
  22. It is rough compared to most major studio titles. In a strange way it takes me back to some of the small studio games in the 90's. You can tell some prize nerds composed this shit. Bohemia was focused on tactical authenticity and when it came to things like ui, music, and VO they were more concerned with things like ballistics and detailed in-game realism. Studios like Activision and EA put out very polished entertainment experiences, but this engine is at its core a training tool. That happens to work perfect for a survival game. Outhouses will turn you into a bloody pulp, but the world has enough juvenile shooters, and real men don't hide in shitters.
  23. I'd really like to see both, tied to the life cycle of the poor fuckers. A fresher victim of infection would have strong ligaments and muscles, and one further along, neglecting its personal safety, diet, and generally being shitty would slow down.
