What is the nicest thing you have done in DayZ?

Good thing about people like you is that you have to be people like you. Cheers.

People who complain about DayZ. STOP.

It's August and they are pushing to advance the game into beta hopefully as soon as October. I'm pretty sure that the next move will be a giant leap as opposed to a little step aimed at polishing the alpha in its current state. Lots of people don't understand the difference between a "game" and an alpha test. Still, their whinging chorus does have the effect of making the engine's shortcomings pulse like a stubbed toe. It does get tiresome having to ignore so many threads when I come here though.

What is the nicest thing you have done in DayZ?

Pretty much just not pulling the trigger every chance I get, tempting as it may be. If I go around a corner and suddenly somebody is in my face all bets are off, or I might fire a warning shot. In terms of "oh look there's some poor oblivious schmuck over there". I feel like PKing without sport is just being a boring person.

    DayZ on Easy Mode

I generally play low pop too. Mainly because it seems like there is a lower chance of hackers. I like looking over my back, and really enjoy getting into tense situations with other players, but the deathmatch247 vibe isn't for me.

Now 1 Million!!!!! + Unique Players!!!

This makes me very happy. It shows that a solid product where the artist/engineers are in control can slap an entire boardroom of studio marketing executives silly. From here out we can say, "if your game needs marketing you need to make a better game". PC games are not like music or movies. You can't keep running the same formula over and over again and get numbers back from your passive gullible audience. There already is a WoW, and WoW does a great job at being itself (well, that is debatable these days). Point is that making Lord of The Rings WoW, or Star Wars WoW, or Conan WoW, or Games Workshop WoW over and over again just isn't an effective use of those IPs or the resources needed to manifest them. This is a milestone for gaming in general. And thanks for giving shouts out to X-COM in the recent interview, Rocket. Here's to Microprose, the DayZ team, and games that don't suck!

    In-game journal

It would be cool to keep a journal in-game. I could see myself writing notes and crap about the crazy shit that happens almost every time I go out for a basic supply run. Would also help reduce the mud that kinda makes all of my various lives run together a bit. It would be fun and add to the emergent factor to find a corpse, and loot a journal, and read a little bit about who the corpse was and what he or she was doing. Lots of ways people could get creative with that kind of stuff. Anyway, yeah. Bored at work.

    B.I. doesn't give a shit about you...

All I can really say is I wish I had your kind of problems. Unless those problems are motivated by like, chemical imbalances and shit. Sound like they might be. Advice: Chill

    Is this Mod worth 30$

    Yes. It's worth $60 imho.
  9. Dealing with the hackers is part of the testing process. In a sense the hackers are helping in that they are exposing vulnerabilities, and doing it free of charge.

Yes another "get rid of sniper guns" whine

Baseball is just a game too, but people seem to be pretty into it. "It's just a game" should translates, "I have too low of an IQ to articulate my dismissive thoughts, but because I'm special I still want to add my redundant voice to the thread, along with the millions of other morons like me who have posted this same sentence since the beginning of gaming forums". Do you go to automotive forums and say IT'S JUST A CAR GUYS GOSH. Of course it's just a game. Look at the URL you fucking primitive. The game is rooted in realism, and it's valid to say that the sniping is too accessible. This is exasperated by the fact that sniping is such a popular "endgame" activity. Only very good players should be able to do it effectively, just like irl. OP has a good point.
  11. I love it for the psychological edge it adds. It also keeps me from getting too wrapped up in assembling the "perfect kit". Most MMO type games get too caught up in the gear, and the fact that you can't get too attached to your possessions keeps the focus on the experience of playing.
  12. Hey. First post so I want to say thank you for spending the time and creative energy necessary to make this game. I've seriously been waiting for this for 20+ years. I just have a couple of comments regarding the persistent deathmatch environment. I generally like it, as it adds a menacing ambience to the world that AI can just never replicate. The cool thing about this game is that it is actually scary, and a big part of that is those douchebags out there hunting people. That said, I really wish I could recognize my fellow friendlies so that I can avoid shooting them in a fit of paranoia or a misread (and vice versa). I know bandit uniforms have been nixed, and don't really understand how the models/skins are set up. I was thinking that maybe after a certain threshold of murder maybe bandits could get a special hat, or maybe have no hat. Like shirts and skins. Also. The act of hunting zombies is a pretty lame. The way they glitch and blink and sprint, means that either you get a headshot off right away or they are in your face like a monster from Eye of The Beholder (as in 2 frame animation). If it were more fun to kill zombies maybe more people would spend time doing it. Perhaps you could add spawn nodes with massive herds so that people with the best gear could find a challenge worthy of their advanced weaponry. I like zeds being hard to hit in motion (at least they are by my standards of marksmanship). I just feel like there's a layer of tactical complexity lacking from the experience of shooting them. Maybe something like shooting them in the chest makes them pause a second, or like in L4D2 you can shove them back with your weapon. Pardon me if my comments are redundant, but I'm at work and can't spend time scouring the forums.
