  1. You write too well to be this stupid, so assuming troll. At any rate, just because the mod is broken in a few ways doesn't mean you should break it some more. Who cares about your gear if to keep it you remove the tension from the game? Alt-f4 is a good tool if you are being hacked, but to cheat out of a fight ruins the game for both parties. Maybe you don't realize what you are missing by actually playing. Fuck your gear.
  2. All other things aside, games get boring. Especially good games that can get you to overplay. Nobody is ever going to design a perpetually entertaining product. I can't even watch Fight Club again, and I've only seen it like 3 times It's been stated that there are vulnerabilities in the mod that can't be addressed in Arma2.

    Alt+F4 whores

If you're a bandit, and you alt-f4, you're not a bandit- you're just a pussy. Not a pussy in a computer game, just a pussy. You should be forced to register with your county. Real men and women eat the bullets as the price for fucking up.

DayZ - Testing my VERY limits

Getting to work on the stand-alone to fix the insurmountable problem of hackers/scripters is a higher priority than polishing the brass on the titanic. Not that the Mod version is dead, but it's been stated that the worst of the worst problems are not fixable, namely the ports and other rude hax. You're right, the game is an exercise in patience, but right now Rocket is preparing to do something very big. Not many people have over a million players before they even have a game. We're in uncharted country here.

The #1 problem that Day Z is facing today

After the first 48 hours in Chernarus I was forced to go Zen and renounce any and all possession. It's not my gun, it's a gun. Not my NVGs, just a pair of NVGs. Last night I did a full run of Stary and NW Airfield, and filled my entire inventory with ammo for my two favorite weapons. Stayed up late even because for whatever reason the spawns were all bountiful and I wasn't encountering much resistance- figured I had a small window to make a bunch of progress. This morning over coffee I went into my tent to find it rolled back to not just before the server restart, but back to last week. I'm done "stocking up". My bad anyway because I knew better. What really annoys me are the graphical glitches forcing me to restart my game every time I get close to any military type location or hospital It's doubly lame because I get crippling artifacts right at the moment where I need to be the most aware of my surroundings.

    Retention Dropping

The tent bug I was referring to is the not saving after server restart one. I haven't had a tent disappear. Since the patch I have to restart any time I approach any type of military location. These are some thoughtful comments, and I do think a lot of reasonable players are dealing with a testing process that is significantly less fun than it was two weeks or so ago. It's not so much the individual bugs as the confluence of them all right now makes enjoying play-testing a big challenge. It has to be enjoyable to keep people doing it.

    Retention Dropping

I manage to avoid hackers by being very selective with the servers I'll connect to. Hackers aside, if I wasn't a patient person there is no way I could play at the moment. The tent bug, the respawn on the beach bug, the necessity of restarting every time I encounter barbed wire or camo tents...there is just so many frustrating elements going on at the same time right now. I keep it in perspective that this is an alpha, and the bugs are being worked on. If I was somebody who was told that DayZ was an awesome "game" and realized that the game was an alpha in every regard other than its popularity I'd chill out too. I'm on the fence as to how much longer I'll be able to cope with the inconvenience of playing. This is largely due to the fact that though I love the alpha, I'm a little weary of testing. The knowledge that soon I'll be able to play DayZ as a real game does influence this.

1.7.2.5 Vehicles + tents not saving

I was at NWAF with a bike. It was a little hot, but I got some good loot (later eaten by my tent). I went back to my bike to slip off back into the night, and my bike had turned into a motorcycle. I just ditched it since there had been a chopper patrolling and I didn't want the attention. Sucked because I loved that bike.

    Tent Work Around

Last night after a harrowing NW AF run, I returned to my camp and stashed some clips into my ammo supply. I woke up this morning, and while my spare NVGs & AS50 was there with ammo, all of my magazines from last night were gone. I had a lot of ammo which I put a lot on the line to acquire. I'm pretty sure it was glitch, and not another player. So does anybody have advice on a method to use a tent with more confidence? Is there a trick to make the damned things actually work, or should I just relegate myself to throwing the bones when I try to store equipment?

55 day old character. Killed by hacker.

That's a bummer man. Good job on surviving so long at any rate.

The New Bandit Skin Is Garbage

Sadly, part of the realism thing in this mod is that your actions have consequences. Get used to it.

    Tent Work Around

Sorry, I should have included a question mark in my title. I know the bug is documented, but I was just wondering if somebody had a technique for tricking tents into working. Being sure to not force quit during "loading" has taken care of the "beach bug" which cost me many many miles.
  13. The Road is one of those where you really should read the book. McCarthy is a national treasure, and his writing can't be done justice by even what I considered a pretty good film. Cannibalism should be included. You'd have to figure out what the benefit would be aside from having some food, but there should be a cost. An interesting cost.
  14. Somebody mentioned yesterday, and I was able to test a bit last night, that the bug ports you if you try to load a server and quit Arma2 when hung on loading. I recreated the bug a couple times. Sucks you died due to it though. I usually stay way out in the country and minimize my urban adventures. Since the patch and being sent coastward I've been killed more than all the weeks prior.

    Reddit - Aug 2012 - Q&A with Rocket

I think this guy is going to change the industry, or at least create a new temporary autonomous zone where real artists can flourish. I'm excited about the stand alone, but I can't wait to see what he's doing in 10 years.

    The problem with modern gaming

I think the biggest problem with modern gaming is modern people.
  17. I suggest kickboxing or jujitsu. You're too frustrated.

Where have you found your NVG's?

Found mine in an ATV parked outside Elektro. Then somebody found theirs when I was visiting the NE airfield...

New to the game, had a bad experience.

I got hacked once, and dealt with a shady admin, once. Since then I have stuck to low-pop servers (5-10 players in my browser), and been very careful of their descriptions (there is a certain degree of "professionalism" with which people can present their servers). Zero issues, and I've been playing lately more than I'd readily admit to my friends. :P I'm probably more lucky than skillful at avoiding lame servers, but I do think that the low pop ones who seem proud to provide their service seem safer.
  20. These days I look at spending any money as an investment and a show of appreciation. I don't just buy movies or music like I did in the 90s. For me to spend money I have to want to contribute to the success of the product. You are welcome to read between the lines in terms of what I'm saying. I spend like $80 on the LOTRO expansions. I don't really play that game at all, but I usually end up giving it a week of time eventually. This is because I appreciate their art, not because I want to play another MMO that is basically reskinned WoW. So yeah, DayZ could probably go up to $50 before I'd have to think about when I buy it (not if).
  21. I don't give a damn about it aside from what works. I had shied away from Commander just because I started with Six. This weekend, however, Commander was there for me, and Six was being coy.
  22. My main server has not worked since the patch, so I've been shopping around in case it doesn't come back. It seems like whenever I change servers I'm back down at the beach. Is this part of a new thing to keep people from skipping between realities to gain advantage? If it is that's cool, I just want to know if it's a bug or somehow intended.

    Anti-server Hop Technology?

    Ah, ok. Thanks.
  24. Still fun, and I play a lot. It's a random situation generator. Some days the sky is ugly and sometimes all those water particles and light come together to blow your mind. Chaos is beautiful, and I don't expect to have a game when it's the alpha of a mod. The core is still solid.
