    Shoot on sight!

I'd rather be the exception to the rule, and put up with the consequences. My DayZ "life" is not worth transforming myself into a common douchebag. It's not like I'm gunshy- bandits are KOS. However when it comes to survivors or heroes I have no problem going out on a limb to make the entire game that much more interesting.

Night time doesn't serve a purpose

Night is good. Use chemlights. Wait out the rain. Hunt NVGs or players who would have them. Rely on your map and compass. Go very very slow. Take a break to work on your novel at night while you wait for the next full moon. It's a realism mod for a realism game. You can't really separate night from that.

Alpha testing is over for mod

I play on low pop servers (5 or fewer players). Since I started doing that I haven't been haxxed. The PvP there is extremely anemic though, and pretty much I only find other players at the airfields. So at this stage the mod has become pretty PvE heavy for me. I don't mind it too much considering. I'd rather do target practice on zeds than deal with the frustration hackers/alt-f4ers in PvP. The idea of building a base or repairing cars is gone- nothing saves. I do have some fun zerging into Cherno or Elektro on a fresh spawn. I agree that the alpha test is done. Seems as though over the last month known bugs have only gotten worse. If there are new bugs it's hard to isolate them from the long-standing bugs. The hax and scripts thing is just a tough cookie to chew. The recent bans/people just getting bored I think are the only thing we can really count on there. It's always going to be present in the mod, at least to some degree. The other stuff needs to be fixed last week. The graphics glitch/deletion of tents/vehicles/inventory is tedious and taxing my will to test further.

    you sir, are an ahole

Well yeah, when you spawn fresh you should be in grave danger on the verge of desparation. Don't take being hunted personally. He could have just found his AK at the southern airport or a corpse in town.

Hero skin resetting zombie kill count?

seems like acquiring hero skin also gobbles up your backpack and replaces it with an empty basic coyote. seen this happen twice.

How do you avoid raging? (hack rant)

Realize that you are a mote of semi-conscious carbon on a grain of sand floating in an infinite vacuum who's life will be over before you know it.

    To 'Nil' DE 1669

Wow. In other news, last night my gf heated up the soup we made Wednesday night, and it was good but she thought we should have made some more. Also, some eggs just hatched in a nest somewhere in Florida.
  9. It's cool to see a post like this, even for a misanthropic lonewolf like myself. Good luck [TB]. In the same vein, if any other survivors want to go out to the woods and avoid each other I'll be on US 23 tonight.
  10. Can you pm me your lsd hookup?

Why did I lose everything ?

Shoulda spent more time playing and less gathering useless shit.

Players in last 24 hours: less every day

Duh. They announced the stand alone, and the fucking alpha isn't suited for over a million players and the attention it has attracted. They have also added +100K new players in the last fortnight. At $30 a pop for Arma2 that's around $3,500,000 spent on an alpha in spite of the many weaknesses. Wait for the stand alone if you don't want to test. Your observation is moot.
  13. How did they get the guns in?
  14. I stick to very low pop servers with a sweet spot around 10 people. Mainly this is because I'm a survivor and generally in a sweep of the airfields and stary I'm pretty sure to encounter somebody to keep things interesting. Since I started doing this I have seen zero hacking. I think the hackers mentality is the more people the more chances to fuck with people. Seems to hold up after two weeks on low pop servers.

    Epic disappointment x 2

Read as: I cheated to drop zombie aggro and then some other people cheated and we all cheated and nobody had fun.

    The Difficulty of DayZ

I agree that getting basic gear could stand to be protracted a bit. I always have fun cobbling together my survival equipment, but generally that's taken care of in like an hour or two of play. As for the zombies, well, if you have a gun zombies should be easy. In all the movies their strength is in numbers. I would love to see some dense packs (50-100), which would warrant use of a grenade, M249 or using one of the powerful sniper rifles to thin the herd from range. As it stands these are strictly pvp weapons (or in the case of the grenade a suicide weapon). For me the difficulty lies not in short term but long term. Every time I think I'm set, I get cocky, and make a mistake. For me the game is hard because it challenges you to be on your guard no matter how comfortable you get. For me this adds to the authenticity of a zombie simulator.

    Military Spawns are Absurd

I could go either way on this. In a world without dupes I have no problem with high-end military gear being ultra rare, but given so many people have unlimited access to this stuff, the low spawn rate gives cheaters a significant edge.

    What makes you kill?

Kill bandits. Kill anyone in a ghillie. Kill any threat. If I have a choice and none of the above apply I let them enjoy their night.
  19. Yeah, ban the kids. The smart ones will be able to bypass the restriction, and the morons can stick to whatever they do while their brain stabilizes chemically.
  20. svenbreakfast

Just found a m249 SAW, rangefinder and a gps.

See how long you can survive, while doing things which involve enough risk to keep the game interesting. Gear isn't a goal, gear is tools. You do the same thing with a mak as you do with an M249 just one works a little better.

    The Bicycle.

Indeed the bicycle is the ultimate death machine. I used to live out on an abandoned army base, and riding my bike silent and swift through the ruins was something I didn't think I'd get to experience again. Bombing mountains through dense pines in pouring rain and utter darkness at 70kmph is something I have yet to check out irl though.

    Nice deathmatch you got there

The game would be exponentially more interesting if people weren't so homicidal. It would create an "endgame". Imagine you meet somebody, bullets fly, one guy dies and heads back to the beach while somebody else gets some stuff. This versus meeting somebody who is looking for vehicle parts to go out searching for camps and you team up and make an ally. People want fast food more than they want to learn to cook. Rocket has characterized the game as an experiment, and there is a social experiment in play here. I'll be honest. I'm a total 90s carebear, but now days chances are if you come too near me you're dead, because I assume you are coming to kill me. If I can really get the drop on somebody I'll say "freeze. Now get the fuck out of here.". I'm not going to ask them their names. I'm on my longest survival streak. I'm not going to die at this point by trusting somebody. It's game theory, the same shit that American and British society is based on. I assume you will fuck me, and so I must be ready to fuck you, and thus society is stable. World of Fuckcraft. In this genre of game the "endgame" is only as creative as the players. Most people lack creativity or the drive to explore it. This is why American Idol is the biggest band in America. It is nice to meet somebody cool early on when you don't have much to lose by being trusting, but cool people in DayZ seem to be even more rare than irl.

2 weeks of play, already geared?

What the fuck do you mean "geared"? You found some shit, use it until you die and hopefully have some good fights in between. Or, fuck off into the woods and see how long you can survive. Geared my ass.
