my best advice for this,( if you don't want to take a risk and run to a city to gear up and risk being killed) is to simply run inland with the ocean behind you, keep running and look for secluded huts (you see some in the woods, like raised chicken houses with a plank leading upto them) or look for just a couple of houses on their own with a couple of sheds, these places are often overlooked the further inland you get and are quite good for getting the basics and maybe a nice surprise loot.

I don't like using online map I don't like the split up ingame maps either :/ So, I just try to use a compass and memory, most of the time it works fine, even though much has changed the basics are there from the mod in my head.. New areas are a nice surprise this way too :) Although I had one embarrassing moment last night leading 2 friends from pustoska to zelenogorsk through the woods and we went full circle and ended up back at pustoska industrial lol (my friend had the compass btw, I blame him!)

well my previous, spec before this (still mediocre) upgrade was pretty similar to your standard (phenom x4 3.6ghz, 2x ATI 5770's and 4GB ram) I don't recall getting graphics problems to that extreme, I still get the graphics popping in with invisible walls etc when loading in with my current spec (in sig) Maybe drivers? maybe settings in geforce experience? (never go with their optimised settings for DayZ/Arma it just picks shite settings, I find Arma/DayZ runs better with settings a little bit more toward quality than performance. Are you using default resolution for your monitor for DayZ (I do, again I find it looks and plays better) I'm sure I remember seeing a few graphic settings guides on Youtube for Arma games, pointing out which settings have an effect on what, some GFX settings don't need t be turned down/off at all, some have a big impact on FPS/graphics popping etc. It may even be a sticky on this forum from the dayzmod days. I just use the geforce experience to change settings to my liking nowadays though. (edit) the geforce experience also shows an ingame picture when you go to custom settings explaining to some extent what each setting is for (it circles them on the picture with a description)

actually, a war museum maybe just in a big city/cites would make sense for a place to gear up the more I think about it. Uniforms, weapons even cooking equipment and ration packs. Doesn't have to be just WWII, could be Balkan too?

in fairness to the OP, it is viable. Surely there would be fancy dress shops/museums? not that I think this is an important issue yet, there's a wide variety of clothing already, just saying :)

Vilayer closed my account the fuckers. I had servers with them for a couple of years and was just letting my referrals build up (used referrals twice for cheap servers like dino D-day) coming up to my 3rd withdrawal for a server and account closed :/

Don't use Nvidia optimised settings, just go to custom settings in Nvidia software (where you optimise each game) and set it to your monitors default resolution then set the bar no less than half way to optimised, more if you want it to look better and can get away with it. Arma games just seem to run worse with lower settings lol. What is your spec btw? mine's in sig.

to me, it seems there are more things in game...which is nice. But, it is alot more unstable to what it was in first few months of release. Servers going down without warning, hits not registering on zombies etc. Many times I have been pwned by zombies by pure bullshit. Using a weapon with a long reach and hearing the hit sound, keep strafing and thinking you are dodging the blows from the zombies HANDS but they have a reach like fucking plastic man.

I too left it for a while, the last few games have been fun apart from 'no data received for 48 seconds' unexpectedly.... actually it is expected, right when you find that friggin item you were looking for and was about to pick it up!

I think SA works better than the mod. you really need at least midrange PC, desktop better.
