    Remove Barbedwire

One of these days, someone will stretch a fence of wire all the way from the Krutov Cap to the very edge of the map. And then, he will be shot and killed, and find himself trapped by his own edifice.

    Killing unarmed players

I personally only kill people that I view as a threat. I'm not a bandit. That said, unarmed players aren't always nonthreatening. It's very easy to take a PDW, stuff it into a coyote pack and sneak up on an altruistic feeling bandit, and get yourself a fresh kit. You have to judge behavior when you look at fresh spawns. Do they make rookie mistakes, or did they bolt for the trees and start heading straight towards a barn?
  3. As a note, tents are the only semi-reliable way to store items in the game. If you drop something, make sure it's something you're willing to lose. if you find a new pack, put stuff from the old pack into it, and -then- pick up the new one. I've lost sniper rifles, rare assault weapons, even some antibiotics before because the server wouldn't let me pick items back up/they disappeared.
  4. Do I hate, hate, hate getting oneshotted? Yes. Do I hate, hate, hate seeing people alt+F4 after my M14 round rips through their torso? Even more. Take out oneshot rifles after you put a 30 second timer on disconnects. Until then, they're the only way to snipe reliably.
  5. Currently Infections are pretty black and white. Stay above 36 degrees, and if you get infected, you drop to 6000 blood slowly as long as you're online. However, given that the only way you every get infected is an unlucky smack from a zombie, and how rare infections are, it's basically a wasted mechanic. Suggested Changes to being infected Chance for infection should increase when you're near water or corpses. Infections should be able to occur at normal, non-heat pack temperatures. They should be rare at this point though. Infection chance should increase the farther below standing temperature you go. Zombies should infect more often. You're telling me I start bleeding every other hit, but this fetid, spittle spewing bloody husk of a man has a near zero % chance to give me something? Suggested Changes to Infection symptoms While heatpacked, symptoms should be reduced to coughing(making stealth hard), an increase in fatigue recovery time, and a decrease in time to become fatigued. Basically you'll have to be a bit more careful about getting into firefights while on the move, and sprinting will be less effective. At normal standing temperature, in addition to fatigue, your character should lose health up to 10K. Movement speed reduced by 5% if possible. At temperatures below normal temperature(due to rain, exposure, swimming), blood levels will continue to drop to the current 6000 blood. Shakes should occur at 25% of the intensity from painkillers. Your coughing should increase in intensity to the point where it impairs your ability to sneak around zombies. Using a heat pack will remove these symptoms, but the blood loss will remain Questions? Comments. As a personal note, I've been infected for a few days now, and it's really nothing more than a mild inconvenience. Food consumption has roughly doubled to compensate for the bleeding, but as most players will note, cooked meat is absurdly easy to come by.

Infection Mechanics: Make them more in depth

I personally think infections should manifest and heal off naturally over time. I'm not sure how feasible anything in the thread is though. I'm not suggesting that touching a corpse instantly infects you either, but hanging around a corpse for an hour or so, sticking near the piles at Green Mountain and the Airfield, looting a barracks after shooting down a dozen zombies, those are the situations that I think you should be encouraged to avoid.

is there a new hero skin?

5K it is then. Fairly easy to farm up though, so don't rely on it for bandit/survivor identification.
  8. amaROenuZ

is there a new hero skin?

I believe the skin kicks in at 4500 humanity. Might be higher. All I know is that I've got a camouflage suit, so I won't get to see it either way.
  9. amaROenuZ

    What's your personal alignment?

In .7.4 I was chaotic neutral. Now I'm closer to a chaotic good. If I see a hero/survivor skin on you, you'll get a free pass, maybe even some supplies. I'm still lookin out for No. 1 though.

Lee Enfield or Winchester - Your Opinion

Winchester. Better DPS. Quieter. More ammo per magazine. Able to be used in conjunction with the revolver to be a Zombie Cowboy.
  11. amaROenuZ

    What do YOU carry?

Two smoke grenades, one red/blue, one green/orange. One grenade One Painkillers One Morphine One Epi Pen Three magazines for my primary. Four magazines for my secondary. Two bandages Two Silenced Magazines for my secondary And in the pack Two blood bags Two morphines Two Painkillers Two Badages One second primary (Generally a compact weapon to compliment my full size rifle) Three magazines for it. One Bottle of Water One cooked meat.
  12. Everything in this thread is worth giving away but the DMR. There's your red flag.

    this "update" sucks....

Here's the thing. When we say "It's an Alpha", we mean "It's a bloody alpha, this is not a finished product. This is no closer to a full game then a sketchbook is to a finished painting. When you complain about bugs and security holes rather than filling out a report, you aren't just being entitled, you are actively hindering the correction of the very issues that have you so bothered. File your bug reports, accept the limitations of the current engine, understand development phases. I'll leave this here for you.

    US 1040 Colony Idea?

I'd be interested in helping out with this. It sounds like a fun plan, though I'm curious as to just how secure you could make it.

    Looking for my precious.... (M24)

AS50's are going to quickly become less useful with in 1.7.2.5, since ammo-refills aren't going to give you bottomless clips anymore. Plus M24s are likely the best of the "quiet" snipers when it comes to daytime hunting.

    No one up north! WHYYYYYYY?!

I live up north. There's a downside in the form of murderous bushes with automatic weapons that comes with hanging out by the airfield though.
  17. amaROenuZ

What is your Character's D&D alignment?

I'm pretty Chaotic Neutral. When I'm down by the coasts scrounging medical supplies, I swing a bit more towards lawful, but when I'm up north doing my loot cycle, things start to veer towards SOS.

    Introduce yourselves

Ladies, Gents. I've been playing for a month or two now, been posting for a few weeks, I suppose I ought to say hello. I'm the paranoid hoarder that constantly injures himself on doors and barn-balconies. I'm also the guy that keeps setting up tents in obvious locations and filling them with all of my unused loot. If you were one of the lucky newbies who found a tent sitting on the coast full of backpacks, supplies and AK variants, I'm glad I made your life a bit easier. If you were that guy who took out all the gear from it on US 1919 and chucked it in the ocean, shame on you. That equipment was for the fresh spawns.
  19. Do we have any numerical values on what effects your humanity? And how do the bandit/hero skins interact with Camo or Wookie suits?
  20. SixLauncher still sucks. Sure, you can use it to play things other than DayZ...but DayZCommander is clearly the better choice for joining DayZ servers. And these are the DayZ forums. And he's complaining about an issue with DayZ.

Zombies are running like us now?

I believe they were supposed to have slowed them down slightly and made them less aware actually. I haven't played yet though, my home server is down.
  22. amaROenuZ

    Non PvP servers?

Look. I don't want to kill you, but I'm paranoid, particularly if your gun is pointed towards me. If you don't want to get shot at and you see me, just stay away.
  23. Your server stopped restarting regularly? The times are fine for me.

Honestly? You probably ran into a duped camp. Nice loot though.

    DayZ Stories

Was looting a barracks when we heard a shot. I didn't my friend did. The original plan was to head into the woods and drop for the night. Not worth the risk, and we were both tired. That's not quite how it went down. We found the people who fired the shots...and they started firing again. I zig-zagged along in a straight line towards them- my G17 was out, not my rifle. I managed to dodge fire until I got ontop of him. He swept my legs, and knocked me down to 3500 blood. It wasn't good enough. I unloaded a full G17 mag into his face, and killed him on the spot. Did my friend get his backup? I don't know. What I do know is that an Alice Pack, an M16A2 and a G17 to kill a guy with a coyote pack and M4 holo is a good trade to me. If you can't kill them, you take them down with you.
