  1. Perfect answer, cleared everything (and I thought that it might have something to do with hive connection). Thanks mate! Still, blacklisting their server at server providers (Gamespy and stuff?) would be bullshit. Cutting the connection to the hive server would be fine. Maybe the line in the "Server Hosting Rules" thread should be changed from "If you are found breaking the following rules, your server will more than likely be suspended at most server providers and if it's not suspended it will result in the entire ip range being BLACKLISTED by DayZ support staff." to something like "If you are found breaking the following rules, your server will more than likely be suspended/cut from the hive server by DayZ support staff." Yes, he did.
  2. Wow, epic admin bullshit. I understand your motive behind the ban, still it's bullshit admin abuse. Sorry. Just out of curiosity: I take it they pay for their server, so basically they should have all the rights they think they need to have as "server hoster" (admins). That includes banning people for whatever reason they believe is just. So, the question I have is: what kind of agreement they may have signed gives you, the DayZ team, the right to blacklist their server? I never did run a server for any game or mod so I don't have any experience on this topic, but this kind of "law enforcement" seems kinda...bullshitty to me and I don't believe that this is in any kind or form backed up by any law (except maybe U.S. law, but that's a completely different story) in the EU. [edit] I mean, just compare those two cases. A.) A server admin didn't agree to how people on his server played the hosted game and banned them. B.) A development team doesn't agree with the reason (a) server admin(s) banned some people from their server, so they blacklist their server. Case A is "wrong behaviour" and case B isn't? Am I the only who doesn't see that much difference here? [/edit]
  3. Better hope you can get us through stupid shit like Patriot Act.
  4. And how would you know those hackers are EU? Had a little chit-chat? Also, being EU means that you can't play on U.S. servers - which, if not true, does mean it's not covered by me saying "playing on U.S. server"? Ah, ok, I see. Best shut the fuck up if you can't read.
  5. No, it's just that there are way more retarded assholes living in the U.S./playing on U.S. servers - that's all.
  6. This. Get killed once by hacker? Ok, shit happens. Get killed twice by the same guy on the same server? Your own fault.

    Failed weapon nerf.

Oh, I know what you did there, trust me! :D

    Failed weapon nerf.

Ah, so you did mean you can't disagree - wasn't sure about that so I thought it couldn't harm to clarify my point :)

    Failed weapon nerf.

I didn't mean that both can't be done, just that it's 2 different pair of shoes. Version checking has nothing to do with how moddable the game is and vice versa. And yes, Source is a prime example for how it should be done (as it is with Steam IMO - Valve know what they're doing and they're doing an awemazing job).

    Failed weapon nerf.

True, but there is a difference between an open/moddable game and a decent version checking system.
  11. Quod erat demonstrandum. Possible hacker-kiddy #1. Thanks for proving a point.
  12. Depends. I'm definitely not going to BUY a standalone, I just bought Arma2 (which I otherwise would never ever have touched because I know how fucking bugged this game is). Give the standalone away for free to those people who already own Arma2 and play DayZ, and sell it to new players who then won't have to buy Arma2. But fuck you big time if you just want to cash in on the hype you created, as simple as that.
  13. I take it you play on US servers? There you have it. I'm of the impression that the average skill level in the U.S. (on the U.S. servers) is way lower than f.e. EU or RU. Therefor more of that script-kiddy brats exist and therefor hacking is way more often seen. Except for one time when I was killed by a teleport hacker on 1 server I never played before and never played thereafter, I still have to see Thunderdome or anything else that looks like a hack.

    Failed weapon nerf.

If they would want to have a reasonable version check routine in their network code, they would have done it from the start. Something like this stupidity doesn't happen "by accident". Nobody with half a brain would so something like that, seriously. This engine....

Is the DMR a good sniper?

    DMR is just awesome. As every mildot range/zeroing table I came across was at least some way off, that's what my testing on the shooting range said: For range just use a calculator. Formula is <target height (1.8m for standing)> * 1000 / mildots. So a standing target at 600m is exactly 3 mildots high, at 300m it's 6 mildots. For zeroing: 1x zoom: C: 125m -1: 400m -2: 650m -3: 800m -4: 975m -5: 1075m 2x zoom: C: 400m -1: 475m -2: 550m -3: 625m -4: 700m -5: 750m

Dayz Tent Bugs, Items disappear on server restart

Just saying that moving ~70 items in a few hours is nothing for 2 people - hell, I bet even one guy can do it and you don't know how many players where on during that 7 hours. Don't take my word for granted but I haven't heard of any tents of lately loosing their stuff if it's not being robbed (or hacked, or hacked and then robbed) when saved properly. Seems to me that if your tent's glitching, the whole tent's gone and not just empty - that's why I still believe that the unlikely robbery took place. And as long as you haven't had tin cans stored everything is of value.

Dayz Tent Bugs, Items disappear on server restart

Not unlikely. A friend and me emptied some tents for...puh...around 80 items. 2 runs with full Coyotes. Today I logged onto my server and....BAM...no tents at all, no motorcycle either. Seems like a hard reset happened on that server (I also checked other tent places I know of). So, you got robbed, I got fucked...sucks both.

    Msi Afterburner and me.

Still doesn't make any sense to me. If you have any explanation on why it's a good thing that goes beyond "don't worry, it's a good thing"? 100% usage can't be a good thing IMO as that would mean that my GPU can't process any more data as it is working at it's limit. It doesn't mean that everything is processed the fastest possible way, just that the GPU is processing all data it CAN process. Is it a bad thing? As long as temp stays down, not necessarily. But maybe the term "GPU usage" is different from how I understand it. [edit] A friend mentioned multicore. Don't know if the 560 is a multicore GPU, but it would make at least some sense. With MACs f.e. every core is counted from 1-100%, so you can get a usage above 100% (which IMO is plain stupid...) on multicore MACs. If the 560 is a multicore GPU, maybe Arma2 uses 100% of that one core. Maybe, if the second core is used, it drops as it is (very simple) 100% + 50% = 75% (on a MAC it's just added up, so you get 150% usage). One more thing: It could also be that the 560 underclocks as much as it needs so the Watt usage (and therefor heat production) is the least needed and the card's working therefor at 100% in it's current state. [/edit]

    Msi Afterburner and me.

Definitely not related. It's either disabled on the server you joined or it's disabled in the beta patch. Maybe you need GPS now for it to show up? Would make sense if you ask me.

    Msi Afterburner and me.

As for the moment I ran out of options explaining your issue. Something (in the Arma2 engine?) must be bottlenecking hard and it doesn't cause the expected rise in temperature, or it's just wrong values read by Afterburner. Gonna ask among my friends, maybe one of them has an explanation. As I said, as long as the temp stays down (and FPS are fine), I would say it's "ok" and you don't have to worry about it too much.

This post demands some beans! :D

    In game GPS

Sure is, but why hell the fuck do the Brits have to measure liquids in litres and milk (I think it is milk) in gallons (or whatever it is)?! That still doesn't make any sense to me :D

    Msi Afterburner and me.

Could be, just try it. Other than that, as Nellocore said, as long as the temp stays low I wouldn't care too much about it then. Sure, it's a bit strange, but I don't see anything that would harm your cards health. [edit] Hm, well I'm no expert with GFX cards, but I think you're wrong on that. 100% usage doesn't mean "to it's full potential", it means that there's either exactly the amount of data the card can process or (more likely) there's more than the card actually can process. So, the more high-end your card is, the lower the usage should be - especially in an idle state. A GFX card should always process things at it's full potential, that's why you get lower usage values with better cards. It simply has more unused power for you to enable boss settings. [/edit]

    Msi Afterburner and me.

Huh... Ok, two things come to my mind. 1.) Maybe it's caused by launching Afterburner after the game's already running. That might confuse some parameters (or it's just poor coding in Afterburner). Try launching the game with Afterburner already running. 2.) Does Arma2 use PhysX? If so, maybe that's why your usage is at 100%. I have 2x GTX 460's in my system, one is PhysX dedicated. So your 100% actually might be f.e. 50% GFX + 50% PhysX. Still strange, but hey, it's Arma2 engine. What I find a bit irritating is that your temp stays quite low for a 100% usage, I would assume that it should rise at least to something around 60-70°C. Another question: can you confirm this with other games you play?
  25. Teiwaz

    Msi Afterburner and me.

My Afterburner values in game: Temp: ~55°C Usage: 50-60% Fan: 48% I was in Cherno, looking at the appartments & hospital from that tall industrial building (yeah, that sniper spot...). When I quit the game I had a very short peak (about 1 second) at 99% usage, but that seems normal to me as I'm pretty sure the GFX card uses all of it's capacity to free the video memory. Afaik I'm having the latest NVIDIA driver. How long does it peak at 100% usage?
