    Spotting your enemy.

I usually use the sound of their gun firing to figure out which direction to star scanning. For example: If i am running North, and I hear a bullet smack to my right (like on the ground past me), then I know to look to me left (west) for the person shooting at me. Because bullets tend to go in straight lines away from the gun firing them. Use your ears -- a great investment for a gamer is a good headset/soundcard so you can hear things around you better.

    KOS is for lazy people...

Life is about survival. You did not survive so you will no longer continue in that life. Luky for you this is a game so you can just respawn and try your hand at this vitrual life again. We cant choose the cards we are dealt however. It is what we do with those cards that defines the life we have. Suck it up baby. Click respawn and no one will care that your 1 out of infinite lifes was a waste.

    M4 spawn?

Do you feel entitled to a M4? Like what the hell? Maybe someone got there before you?? LOL if you want an M4 in your hands to have fun, you mgiht be playing the wrong game.

    KOS is alive and well...

You have to adapt to the current environment. That is, in the mod, there was a visual representation of your past actions so you could judge people accordingly and could relax around hero skined people. There was a bandit skin, a hero skin, and the neutral survivor skin. Since in the standalone there are now clothes you can wear and find. This allows you to customize your character's appearance. You know do not know who is a bandit and who is willing to help you. We are back to the original DayZ again. KoS is the attitude cause no one wants to die and loose their gear cause they trusted a guy with a knife. As soon as there is some implementation of a way to identify who is going to rape you, then you should just assume for now that if they have guns they will probably use them on you. So what I mean by adapt is that you should avoid all people, and take it slow so you dont run into people who see you before you see them. One idea i have had about how to implement a visual way to differentiate good from bad people is to have hero and bandit only clothes that you can find. You can only put them on if you carry the bandit status and the hero status. Then make the clothes look bandit-ish and hero-ish or what ever.

Should we remove barbed wire in the next update

If zeds cant walk threw them then they are kinda useful, but since that doesn't work, take them out, there is no use.
  6. Me too, it is my favorite part of this game. Second favorite is killing people who shoot at me. I dont shoot on sight either, it isnt as fun as robbing someone at gunpoint or threatening people first. My favorite thing is to go up to someone all stealthy, get on coms and tell them to go prone or ill shoot, i usually give them 2 chances to go prone and either 1 of 2 things happens, i kill them if they have good gear, or they alt-f4 like pussies.
  7. Everyone says to avoid these cities like the plauge, but that is because you will most likely die there, however, if you are smart, quiet and dont bring good gear, you can get out alive rather eaisily and since you just started out, you dont have much to loose anyways. People say stay out of there, but that pertains mostly to players with good gear, cause the risk/reward is non existent if you have good gear. But you aren't risking anything but a short time waste because you are just starting out. I, however, am taking a huge risk rolling into cherno with NVG, M4SD, M16ACOG, and Coyote Backpack for nothing better than what i already have. I can get food anywhere and i have canteens so i dont need soda. Also, think of Chrno as containing everything you NEED to start and having nothing you want once you have gotten your start up equipment. It is a deathzone, but only because of the amount of people there, so play on servers with no more than 20ish people and you will be fine, unless a sniper is sitting above cherno, but if you are listening and are quiet and observant, than you would know about the sniper before he knows about you. (Unless of course it is just you and the sniper in cherno and nobody else) Also most snipers in this game suck because they dont know how to use mildots, and Kentucky windage. I cant tell you how many times i have dodged DMR and AS50 rounds cause the sniper sucks, just keep moving and dont sit in the open and you will be fine. I know from experience that you gotta lead the shot quiet a bit in this sim, meaning unless you have a ton of practice, you cant hit a moving target. Also this is a slow game, dont try to rush it or it will chew you up and spit you back on the coast and not think twice. I have tried many different ways to get gear, and so far the best one is listening carfully, moving slowly, and scouting.
  8. Alright, here is a tip from a player that started this game a month ago today and now has "end game" gear and found all of it as random drops except my NVGs. (I murdered for these because i have been looking for them for 3 straight days.) Use http://dayzdb.com/map to find where you are and to see what type of buildings are lootable and how the yield is and what spawns. The first thing i do when i start a new life is i get to cherno. Specifically cherno because of the amount of residential loot all close together. I walk back and forth in the red circles aquiring basic gear like a 1911, an AK series weapon, medical supplies, Food and a Alice Pack and canteens: I hit all of the high and medium yield residential (blue circles/squares) to get the 1911, Canteens, Lee Enfield, Alice, Food, Canteens, Ammo. I hit the grocery for food, maps, compass, watch, binoculars, and alice pack. I hit the medical tents and the military tents next to them to hopefully get luck and get a M series or AK series rifle, ive gotten lucky and got a GPS there once. Also i grab medical supplies there at the meditents. After i have acquired all of that, i then head north to stary sobor, where i then find AKs and M4/16s and M24 and Coyote Backpack and other good stuff. After that, I do 1 of 3 things: Hit the NWAF, Look for chopper crashes, acquire more food/medical supplies from Berezino. I never go back to cherno or electro because there is no need, with stary and berezino providing what i have ran out of. Now you may say "but i always get shot in cherno before i can get my stuff", well: Who cares, you didn't have anything worth shit anyways. Start the process over and this time, try not to shoot your gun so much, and try not to run around agroing everything in the city making it easy for a sniper to find you. I dont play as a bandit, but when i hear gun shots, i freeze, and listen to where they are coming from and i go looking so i can establish communication. Other may try to establish a kill; that is why being quiet is the most important thing while in cherno. I fire my gun more at the NWAF than i do at cherno. MANY MANY player have successfully acquired their favorite gear, it is not impossible, you just need to change your tactics, and learn from your mistakes. Learning from your mistakes is your biggest help, getting mad after getting shot will cloud that thought process. Instead, think about what you didn't do to ensure your survival. Peace.
  9. Nice video, and yeah, u should be a hero after all of that! Also, the L85 is crap past 350m even though you can range it and it has a 12x optics. You are better off with an M16ACOG if you want to fire a small round far and accurately. It is good for night time though. That was well played. Hackers ruin the legit fun of others once again.

Found AS50TWS take it or leave it?

Came across some tents with 2 of them and even some frag grenades that aren't the ones in the game, i knew they were hacked, so i flattened all the tents and left it all alone on the principle that i will not play this game with a weapon i was not meant to have.
  11. My traveling pack contents are: Coyote (24 Slots) 2 Bloodbags 2 morphine 1 painkiller 2 cans of food 1 Weapon (10 slots) 4 Mags for ^ Weapon 3 Slots for Whatever (chems/flares/meat/more ammo) This is my standard backpack for the north. I also play with friends, which is why 2 bloodbags are critical. M4A1SD - Effective up to 200m, used for zombie killing and urban combat. Atleast 6 if not 8 mags on me is ideal. (2 slots are taken by canteens) leaving me 2 slots for firewood gathering or holding food/soda for short term use as i find it, or for chems/flares at night. M16ACOG - Effective up to 500m, used for medium to long range targets. G17 - 6Mags and always 2 bandages. (Best handgun imo because if you are good at headshots, you have 17 shots = 17 dead zeds + flashlight for nighttime) Alive 6 days now. Found everything i have. 1 Murder 3 Bandits Killed. The murder was a sniper's spotter who never shot at me. The sniper Alt-F4 like a pussy. The north is a dangerous place, but the loot is worth it if you want it. Im currently going on 2 days of NVG hunting unsucesfully.

    Hive down?

Yep, me and my buddies went down too. I hope its a hidden patch! :D Also, literally 2 minutes before everything went down, a SVD and 1 mag spawned. While figuring out who was going to take it, we crashed. Lost forever. :(
  13. Ahzrukhal

    Vest Pouch

I agree, it is a vest pouch, not a backpack, we should be able to use it.
  14. Ahzrukhal

Respawn at the beach and gear loss

This has happened to 2 friends on the same day. It is pretty common.

[Video] Hacker psychopath / Good Guy Jason.

Now that is creative! Also, watch the whole thing. I can see this being fun for a hacker. But just thunderdoming people, come on you bastards, be more creative like this hacker. Atleast this would have been fun for both parties.....
