Sounds like you've been playing a good amount. Glad you stuck with it. Are you keeping a tent, or just stashing your stuff in the bus? (I assume you can keep gear in the vehicles but I don't remember because I don't look for vehicles)
-
Could be!

I wish I had pics. I guess what happened was that I must have found the biggest pack after that (the other Coyote I think it's called?) and thought it was a feature working as the name implied. Nevermind.

From picking up an ALICE after that and having 26 slots.

Lonewolf: What do I do after I get my gear?
HMS replied to Obsolescence's topic in New Player Discussion
Since you seem to not have any preference, I say be a maverick and do #4. -
lugaru your picture is by far the scariest thing I have ever seen. I always end up running myself stupid into a dead-end like one of those infernal 1-way-out industrial shacks that usually holds a windshield or toolbox. In that case, I push myself out and with any luck am only hit once and then try to do a better job scrambling around corners to really lose them.
-
I believe he meant this as a wish or a suggestion for the future. There is not any way to make the crowbar available in your secondary weapon slot at this time as far as I know. Good luck!

When it's getting late and long past when I should have been sleeping, and I got nothing to lose, I will run like crazy in a town. Aggravate as many Zombies as I can and see how many I can get to follow me. I am not sure what the max is, but there is a max as far as I can tell. Sula we have very similar play styles and experience.

The most terrorized fun ever. I died once or twice someplace, not sure how to avoid walkers and such. I had no idea how to play or what to do. No RTFM, no Wiki, no javascript map, nothing. After running North for a while and seeing nothing in the hills, I came back South and walked the coast until I found food and water. I mean, I walked in the lakes, stood in the rain, anything just trying to figure it out myself. Finally after crawling into Cherno and getting an Enfield, and some food and water, I found myself in the pitch black at night in the tower of what I found out later was the Fire Station. Fires and flares in the street, shots all around and walkers below. I didn't know if I was safe or hunted. What's not to love?

Seriously this is getting stupid.. Three hours and not a single weapon?

DEER STANDS: I avoid them for now if I need anything decent. The last few trips have been disappointing. There were a few roaming Zs around, which was not a problem, but 2 kept spawning inside the legs of the deer stand. Once you're at the ladder, they will clip through and get you. Anyhow, nothing but random junk, bandages and maybe a water bottle in the stands themselves. The Walkers, however, were loaded. I was annoyed at the waste of a trip so I started hacking with my hatchet and got some pistols off the dead soldiers. So, try the stands if you want but if they are empty... well I guess you have nothing to subdue a walker with so... at least you might have some water and extra bandages. -
Hey Sula. To elaborate on the "it's buggy" truth: if it's day out, you won't see anything or even get a click, even if you were doing it correctly and the light responds as intended. You sometimes have to mash the L button to get it to work, if you are on a laggy server. I never had to reload mine. But it doesn't always work anyhow. You will hear the "don't use it" non-explanation a lot. The reason is because it has an insanely bright, pure white cone of light that lights up the map like the 20th Century Fox fanfare floodlights. I don't know if it attracts Zombies, but it damn sure will attract others intent on TEACHING A NOOB A LESSON. They are out there, as you can see from the forums. Perhaps you set the key bind to Mouse2, but just leave it as L for now. If you need to use it, try it once or twice, and if you don't get it just move on. You are probably not doing anything wrong.

Running around with a flare in hand while shooting me
HMS replied to noobdukem's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Maybe it's built-in punishment for spawning up there. Just kidding. I have no idea. It sounds technically possible, but overwhelmingly unlikely. -
Being surrounded by walking dead all around, you might have enough shit to worry about without picking fights with other humans. If you should find yourself in a situation where you need to defend yourself from a firearm, I suggest getting the hell out of there if your only choice is medieval technology. But yes picking up the bolts is impossible. I don't know if there is much they can do about that but it would be nice.

Those killer triangles from outer space got me killed twice last night.

So what do you think is the stupidest thing about this game that you have seen.
HMS replied to alsparagus's topic in New Player Discussion
I would also agree with the other comment about the fanboy trolls, but this is just uncalled-for. For all my frustrations with the game and the community as a whole, I still say you gotta thank Rocket for fixing connection issues and keeping the persistent experience going, and leaving very minor tweaks like this one dead last on their list. Oh and let me take a drink from the lake with a can. :) -
To address this particular question, as opposed to the general theme of it being an alpha release, I would say if you truly are literally making NO noise and there is absolutely not a single bar coming off that ear icon, and then Zombies from way further away from you decide to attack, AND this happens to you ALL the time... LOL Sounds like a bug to me dude. I've found myself having to fight off a walker who decided to get in my face as I was hunched over looting a pile outside, in the dark. All I can say is "I must have done something wrong" or it's a bug like my hatchet not being reloadable. Or maybe someone else somehow aggrivated the walker and as he was running his circuitous route, he decided you were closer somehow. We may never know.

have i just got the worst luk ever or am i doing it wrong ?
HMS replied to Siberian (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Well Siberian I started reading this thread and just skipped to the end to see why it was so hot, since you claimed you were going to quit back on the 1st page. I am REALLY glad you stuck with it. I was about to suggest PM'ing me and see if we could hook up. I now keep a spare this or that with me in case I meet some fresh meat. I mean, I could have used a compass early on too. I had a hard time finding ANYTHING except empty cans. (SIDE NOTE: PUT A COINSTAR MACHINE IN THE GAME) I was killed early on by someone in a supermarket. I haven't needed to kill anyone except a trash-talking fool since then because I can avoid and distract like nobody's business. You and I probably have that in common. Taking a while to find a gun and exploring without maps makes you good at the sneaky stuff. You'll see. Welcome to the club! -
I knew the crowbar was bugged, but now I am stuck outside a town swarming with Zs and my hatchet won't "reload". Is this a new problem?
-
Oh yeah, I did everything I could to "reload" it. I was absolutely swarmed and did not have backup so I just about broke the R key. haha Lesson learned: make sure all your gear works before bombing into a town.
-
yeah I put it on the belt, took it off, dropped it, picked it back up, dropped it, swapped for an Enfield, put it in the pack, reenabled it, etc. It just always says 0 ammo, in red. Oh well. The enfield worked out great in the town. Good thing there was a smoke grenade there too. Man, that was a mess!
-
Not a bad idea, but so far unplayably laggy or overcrowded servers has been way more of a problem than hackers or hopping/farmers/etc so it takes me a while to find one that works.
-
I like the fact that it was not a toolbelt item. It made it quicker to use - except the damn thing didn't work until I tried like 4 of them. And considering the size of it, it should absolutely be a 1-hit kill.
-
I avoid others big time, unless it's my friends. I was killed once while trying to eat a can o' beans in a supermarket in Elektro and have been skittish ever since. I saw a guy in a church, either lagging out or AFK, but most likely just working his backpack. I typed out a quick hello, grabbed some tin cans said good luck and left. I assume he was new, being all exposed like that, so I shut the door on the way out for his safety as well as my benefit so I'd know if anyone opened it. I've HEARD other players, next room, upstairs, etc., but when I called them out, they must have logged out. Last night took the cake though. I had just raided the hell outta the supermarket in Elektro and was trying to get a working crowbar from the 3 in the apartment across the street, when I see a dude in the back of the market picking through the trash in there. I had just spent a day recovering from a death and filling a pack in the hopes of getting a tent and getting outta dodge, so I was a little wary. I called him out on Direct chat twice, and used the mic, advised to respond. Finally said respond or I will fire. I had the Enfield on his head the whole time. I guess he figured out how to use his mic because he was pissed. Your typical hot-shot 19-year-old loudmouth. I told him thanks for doing what I told him to and walked away. He wasn't worth the ammo and the ensuing horde. I am not a bandit. But I am starting to lose my faith in other players and my accompanying leniency.

Nice job SnakeEyes. Looks like you cleaned that town up.

When you release officially, obviously the tm items will have to go. May I suggest going the Wacky Packages route? Something like Mountain Goo, Joke, etc. Peace!
