    Tracing Bullets

Around 3:39 I'd say he was in front of you, and missing left and right. That is way more information than you can ever hope to find out from the video. There's really no further teachable moments other than that. If it happens in-game again, run away from those glitches and put more distance between you and the sniper. You wouldn't teach him not to fire on you, since he will either kill you or run away before you find him and pistol him. Remember, you are dealing with someone who decided to fire on someone, unprovoked, from half a mile away. That's a market I'd recommend not buying into.

Few noob questions, please help :)

Hey Hysterics, I read through your posts. The absolute most helpful thing I think anyone could tell you at this point is to read this right here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/10051-index-of-helpful-threads/ It's the first sticky thread you saw at the top. I read through this after my first couple of playthroughs, and answered a ton of questions I didn't even know I had. I will also confirm that the tents are basically flushing your items down a toilet at this point. Still I find myself risking life and limb to get them again and again. Glutton for punishment I suppose I am.

    help

    What server was it?
  4. No more than having a website loaded up to a map is. In fact, less-so. It's more realistic to boot. 35 well-armed players, none of whom know each other, shooting at each other, is no way to survive Zombie World. Your bigger problem might be the lag on the low-pop. servers. They are low for a reason sometimes. Good luck dude. I completely empathize with your frustration. And getting decent weapons, AK rifles with magazines that actually match, for example, are great. But then your backpack glitches as you change from a ghillie to camo suit, and you are back to axe and pistol again, just like day 2. Hang in there.

    I'm not actually Daffy Duck

hehe thanks. It helped me too. That dude caused quite the ruckus in that part of town. Fresh beans all around.

    I'm not actually Daffy Duck

Welcome Daffy Duck. I've been playing on very low-pop servers at weird hours, just so I can test out a bunch of things and test the limits of the bugs, so I don't see people too much. When I do, I call it out with a Friendly and "need any help?" One guy had just spawned and was driving a zombie train, he saw me on the coast and begged me not to shoot. I said "never" and popped some smoke to thin his herd (he was screwed otherwise) and diverted a few Zs my way. Good to see another good one join up.
  7. To address #2: If you are still alive, try to get away and lose the Z. That's a learning curve in itself. Once you are away, make sure your blood isn't still going down, and use a bandage from inventory. If you're hourglassing, you are low on blood anyhow. Find food and eat lots of it. Lots to learn by playing. I'm glad you're trying it out and having a crack at things on your own. Also the empty whiskey bottle seems to do the trick for me, on those windows. Watch your back. Unfriendlies of all kinds will be watching you in the markets and hospitals.

    I want beards NOW!

I am sure he means having the beard appear after a certain number of days living off the land, but nice job making an eloquent point.

Hands-down, the best idea since canned beans.

    Technological dunce needs help..

Hey Shellder, your problem according to the screenshots you sent is the GFX. It's an internal Intel chio and it's really not going to cut it, though I must admit I did not look into the specifics of your chip. Even if it works it will not be the least bit satisfactory. The good news is, everything else you have is good enough to run it (even if your CPU is a bit on the low end), but all you need to add is a video card better than the minimum specs listed. Let me know if you need a hand finding one and pricing. Cheers.
  11. Reptile: Thank you. Firemac: According to the info confirmed by Reptile, you were probably further than 100m from another human or Zombie. Wiley: I know there's a thread explaining all the differences someplace. One thing I remember is that there are presets for servers, but then you can tweak settings. So, you could set up a "Regular" server, and then turn off enough features so that it is every bit like "Veteran" but still list as Regular. At least, that is what I was told. I never ran one of these servers. What I do is I use DayZ Commander, and I can filter the server results by certain features.
  12. The blue dots for survivors: Are those also only when within 100m, or across the map?

    I am a beginner. Tips?

    1) It is possible. The act of going in, even if the floors are crazy loud, will not alert them. If you are visible through the windows, or standing up near a wall, they might see you with their noclip x-ray vision, so you still have to be careful but just going in won't send them a signal. Now, if they were already on to you, they will come in, but for the time being, they will be nice and slow. Probably just working on stealth and watching your sightlines will help with this. 2)Mine get reversed all the time. I don't know yet whether I have to double-tap W again, or shift, but sometimes it reverses to where the quiet walk defaults over the sprint, with the SHift key modifier, and vice-versa. When you have some time, you will want to work on avoidance. After you get good at crawling everywhere, start to practice sprinting through a town. Alert as many Zs as you want and make a train. Then bolting around a couple of building corners and get the feel for when you've lost their sightline, then get far enough away and low enough so that once they round the corner, you will have lost them. IF they don't see you go in a building after they chased you to a corner, they shouldn't go in. Just hang around outside.

Which T-Shirt design would you buy?

I like Option 1, except I think you mean "Nobody Survived the DayZ Alpha"
  15. I did this once, and it worked, but I don't remember exactly how I did it. I know I lost some stuff in the process. Last night, I found another Czech Vest Pouch as I was rebuilding my player after a respawn. In case you don't know, it's a 6-slot "backpack". The good thing about it is that you can use it in conjunction with another pack, so say you have an "ALICE" with 20 slots, now you have 26 slots in total. I believe it just made the ALICE 26 slots, as opposed to showing up as 2 separate packs in inventory. Very convenient. So, to the more experienced players, can you tell me what the best way would have been to acquire this pack? I know the best way to pick up another backpack is to inspect the target backpack and move all your goodies into it, and then pick it up once you are prepared to say goodbye to your old pack. In this case, I still had the spawn "coyote" pack, so does that mean I had to nix two items, and put them all in the Vest? In the end, that's what I did, but once I got the Vest, I lost the Coyote. It just vanished. I didn't stumble upon any free ALICE packs, so I am not sure what to do next when I do find one. I just don't want the Vest to disappear. Like I said, I got this to work before I just don't remember how. Thanks!

    Am I missing something?

Look at the several recently created forum posts probably 1 or 2 rows under this one, with lots of comments, trolling, and complaining. I am not trying to be sarcastic. Those threads will give you a lot of info. Someone complains or loves it, and it goes from there explaining why and what to do.
  17. Also check the Stickied thread at the top of this forum for useful links in categories.

    FOOD!?

You are right, but you may want to have this in the Suggestions forum. The hunger dynamic certainly puts a new spin on the old FPS. I love it.
  19. HMS

    Name change?

Your items will remain, but if you are creating a new thread asking how to change the name, your items are going away the next time you load up anyhow. ;) Don't forget to change any settings again though - those do change back to default.
  20. Don't feed it dude. I just realized this thread is useless. There are at least 5 other ones just like it. Anyone who is frustrated can read the old ones and learn exactly what they need to know about the game, and how much d-baggery is in the community. I was trying to help the OP out on a few and after the first 10 responses, there's rarely anything new.
  21. That was my first weekend playing too. I became extra cautious after getting mauled one too many times, so I moved very slowly. As I was playing without too much guidance, the initial trip to a water source, then back to a town for a container, then back for water, then back for a different container, while comical, was educational. Not only did I learn that empty cans are no good for filling with water, but I learned how to dodge Zs very well. And then hunger set in. LOL you're on your own on that one. Check the towns, and sometimes the houses nearby. That first can of pasta will look so good you will feel it in RL.
  22. HMS

    Is it true?

And the neighborhood is hell too. Nothing but vagrants and miscreants. Be careful over there.
  23. I am getting this too. I have found no way to stop it other than hope you are not moving just as the next fainting spell occurs.

The curse of the EXPLOODIIINNNGGGG Shop!

Exactly. I had no problem understanding his question. Just an enthusiastic dude who wanted to know how he was blown up. It was possibly a satchel charge. Pretty rare from what I understand. I heard/saw one go off once. Or it was some type of hack, which is probably way less rare. :) Or a grenade. That should do it.

    I am a beginner. Tips?

Sounds like you've been playing a good amount. Glad you stuck with it. Are you keeping a tent, or just stashing your stuff in the bus? (I assume you can keep gear in the vehicles but I don't remember because I don't look for vehicles)
