This only happens to me when: Stuck on perma-load, I quit. Usually 95417. Join another server, successfully. Always 95883. This does not happen when: Join 95883 server. Quit just because it's time to quit. "Server hop" to another 95883. I am right where I am supposed to be. Based on that experience, this isn't a feature. (good)

DayZ was working fine, now it's stuck on Loading?
HMS replied to DjZZeRo's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I am up to date with 95883 and 1.7.2.5 As of this morning, shortly after updating to this version, I could join any server I wanted, so long as it was running 1.7.2.5. Now, I can ONLY join 95883. My buddy, who is updated, can join anything *except* 95883. I don't understand what black magic is going on here, but we are definitely both on the same versions. He's tried everything, and nothing will get him on the 95883. My kingdom for an official post from Rocket or anyone on the dev. team. These long threads are useless from a troubleshooting perspective. -
Since then, have you tried running both games independently? If so, and you still have the problem when running DayZ, you might need to reinstall.

ATTENTION: Fix for Six Launcher users regarding new patch

Do you mean 95883? Just trying to get my ducks in a row here and get everything to match up nicely. Thanks!! -
game crashes "Bad serial number given in setup" w/pic
HMS replied to TIZZLEBABY's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Tizzle, I thought you mentioned in your other thread that you got it working. Is this a new issue? Either way do this: Quit Steam. Run it as Admin. Verify local cache files on Arma2. Verify Local cache files on arma2:OA. Run arma2. Quit arma2. Run Arma2:OA. Quit Arma2:OA Launch DayZ. You could create a player from within Arma2, but don't worry about that now. -
Is this one of today's un-documented changes he put in "for the lulz"? Follow up question: How do you know if you are now considered a bandit?
-
Good for you Tizzle! Enjoy the game. Be careful out there!
-
After downloading and installing Arma2 and Arma2:OA, did you run each of them seperately, or did you try to install DayZ right away? You need to do the former. Edit: You beat me to it. Glad you got it all working~!
-
Tizzle, if you just run headlong into it all over again, you are going to have the same problem. HanoverFist asked you 3 specific questions and you answered "idk". Do this. I have walked several people through the exact installation you are going to try. Deviate not. If you skip a step or say "ah I already did that" you are just going to have to do it all over again. 1) "Buy" and allow Steam to "install" Arma2: Combined Operations. 2) Run Arma2. Notice how it installs more stuff. 3) Play Arma2 - play the tutorial for a bit to make sure it's working. 4) Run Arma2: Operation Arrowhead. IT MIGHT NOT WORK. 4a) If it didn't work, quit Steam. Don't just close the window. Exit the program entirely. Right click on the steam icon and choose "Run as administrator". It does not matter if you are already logged in as administrator. Run it specifically as administrator from the context menu when you right-clicked it. 5) Notice how it installs more stuff. 6) Play Arma2:Operation Arrowhead for a few minutes then quit the game. Stop. Review eveything I just typed. Did you do every single thing in the exact order I just wrote? If not, go back and do it again. Next, download the Six Launcher application. From within the program, choose to download, install, and/or update DayZ. If you get any errors whatsoever, make sure you are running Steam as admin, and verify the integrity of local game files again ON BOTH GAMES like you did before. Verification takes a few minutes. Steam re-downloading the errant files takes seconds. Run Arma2. Run Arma2:OA They will re-run their respective BattleEye installations. Back to Six Launcher, or if you prefer at this point, DayZ Commander. Launch the mod into your server of choice. Good luck!

NOOBHERE Possibly stupid question, but can I grab ARMA from Steam and play DayZ?
HMS replied to Treze13's topic in New Player Discussion
Post back here if you are having problems. The stock scenario of buyng it on Steam and then installing the mod over it is not always as simple as this sentence makes it out to be. Your installation / modifying / patching / running experience may vary. -
You're doing it right.

Will Rocket continue to update DayZ even though a standalone game is coming out?

Great wisdom and clarity in this post. -
Moving Solo, Slow+Cautious or Fast+Reckless?
HMS replied to Obsolescence's topic in New Player Discussion
Oh yeah - I guess I do it too as part of general avoidance. Good idea for sure. -
Moving Solo, Slow+Cautious or Fast+Reckless?
HMS replied to Obsolescence's topic in New Player Discussion
Dunno what "bino" means, but I used to crouch and crawl everywhere. Now, I run like the devil. The only downside is that the Zs will noclip into whatever building they want, so it's easier once you find a hatchet. Still, I avoid humans at all costs. -
Good luck dude. That is panic mode. Don't bother putting the tents down because if you aren't sure where you are, you won't find them again. Look at the clouds. Either follow them, or go straight south. Just pick a straight line and go for it.

Dayz Horror Community | Multiple Servers | Website & Forums | TeamSpeak | Active Staff
HMS replied to smKes's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Consider this added to my list of servers. I don't like the overhead / burden / effort of coordinating server names and addresses with teamspeak / ventrilo apps and server lists though. If you bump into me in game and I'm not on TS, hit the Direct Channel and I respond. Thanks for the heads up! :) -
"...a healthy dose of the greater internet fuckwad theory..." That calls for beans.

It's subtle, but there is a system. You have to make it happen though. If you murder on sight, then you have lost an ally. If everyone murders on sight, then there are no allies. People need to stop murdering on sight for it to work, and that starts with yourself. If they care, that is. Which most people don't. And that's fine. Here come the "I tried that, and was killed on sight for nothing, now I kill on sight, no questions asked." <-- well then you fucked up, and are continuing to fuck up. I allowed a dude to get me in his sights in a building. I talked to him and had a train of Zs behind me. I killed the Zombies, he didn't shoot me (or talk, but I know he heard me), and life went on.

2 Noob Tips: How to shake zombies and how to find veichles
HMS replied to Sectoidzor's topic in New Player Discussion
I was thinking the same thing. If he means "quickly hit Z to go prone", then I would say that you'd be mauled 50 out of 50 times. If he means "quickly run in a Z pattern" then I would say it has no bearing on survival, unless you stick some trees between you again. Your vehicle tips seem sound, but that northern area is huge. I wouldn't know where to start, and if a camp is guarded, then... that would end the fun real quick. But I guess as they say, no risk::no reward. -
Your question is a conundrum that circles back and eats itself then spits out an enigma. Let's do this backwards. You want to run DayZ. You need Arma2 and Arma2:Operation Arrowhead They only run on Windows. You are on a Mac. While on OS X, you can run Windows in a virtualization sandbox such as Parallels, or VMware Fusion. --> Install Windows on either of those, then install the games, then play. You could also run WIndows on the Apple hardware, by using Bootcamp (a bootloader that, when you turn the power on to the machine, the first thing you see is a big question that says "Hey what do you want to do today? Are you going to have me load up Windows, or OS X?" ) Choose Windows. Install and play Arma2 and DayZ, In order to utilize Bootcamp and install Windows (I am not sure if the latest version will support Vista, but it used to), you will need to seek further assistance.

Thanks - I didn't want to load up FRAPS, but was hoping there was a console command I could enable like on Source games. 24/25/30/32 FPS is the bare minimum we can watch and still labor under the illusion that it is a real moving image. We can and do take full advantage of higher frame rates, particularly because we are interacting with it, but it will take way too long to explain why.
-
How do you know what your FPS is?

To the OP: It is possible to play alone, but better with a friend. That means some logistical coordination in terms of when you can both get on the game. My buddy broke his leg near Pusta. I gave him some stuff that I didn't want to lose, such as matches and knife, rations, and my AK. Then I ran into Elektro for meds and stuff to help him out. I have a ghillie suit, which helps immensely, but when you bump into someone, they are either threatened by it, or just want to have it, so you have to keep that in mind too. There were a few things I wanted to investigate, such as a chopper that was in the street - I assume someone flew it there - but I kept my eyes on the prize and ran my errands and got back to Pusta. My point is, the game has a lot of grind to it. Much housekeeping to do. I try to do that stuff when I can, and go exploring with a friend to watch each others' backs PM me if you need someone to watch your flank. .

DayZ Tutorial: How to get geared up quickly
