Found a bunch of players standing on UAZ spawn
HMS replied to skoda's topic in New Player Discussion
Was there a corresponding number of players in the server playerlist? If you were flying over real people, there is no way that one of the 8 wouldn't be scanning the skies to look for you or take cover. -
I love all the boasting and flaming for boasting. I could pick up a pile of rocket-firing revolvers and wouldn't know or give a FUCK because I can't be bothered to study and memorize what is officially part of the game or not.

Lots of help is available. What version of DayZ are you running? What beta version of Arma2:OA are you running? What server were you trying to join?
-
And Sula I think your inbox is full. :)

I'm game. I just turned 40 too. And to think... I thought I was old when I started playing TFC at 29.

After about a month, I became bored. So, helping others alleviated the boredom. That, and just keeping my eyes open for crashed helicopters. But that's about it. Seeing how fast I can go on a bicycle, ringing the bell along the coast of course...

As I was adventuring, something...odd? Happened

What is a "main" server? But honestly, how a game can be this unsecure is beyond me. And what's the point of even having Battleye if it seems to stop none of this? -
WHERE DO I FIND THIS???
-
Cool deal! If I see your name on the servers sometime, I'll be sure to lead a train of about 20 or so Zombies through the streets, calling your name.

If you were dead, how were you able to even say "WTF I WAS FRIENDLY"? I thought only Direct Communication was active now. And god damn it, the forums suck too much of my time loading to be clicking on non-informative thread titles.
-
If you shoot first, you don't get to ask, and you lose the chance to meet the good people you seem to want to meet. Stop doing that. Are you sure you have the communication system down? Make sure you are on the "Direct Communication" channel and understand that the dude you see (and who hopefully doesn't see you yet) is probably not on it. Keep your distance (don't let them steal guns from your pack) and you'll have some better experiences.

That's basically the game. Survive until you hit boredom. Why'd you kill the 2nd guy though? Your explanation didn't really make sense to me - maybe you left something out? I hit Elektro or Cherno virtually every time I die. It's just so convenient and I run like hell, so I don't care.

Hi there, Just sent you a PM. Let us know where you are. There are a few tutorials around already (stickied too I think?) that I encourage you to read, but don't over-read too much. Part of the thrill is just living the experience. OK, for practical advice you can use right now: You probably don't have an in-game map. When you load the game pay close attention to the bottom right. It will give you the name of the place you are roughly located. That may be all you have to go by when trying to navigate. Next, any place you are looking for supplies: If it's a house, you can get into the ones with windows you can see in. You will get to know them by sight soon. And finally, if you can get on a server that's night time, but starlit, you can get around well enough, and the Zs can not see you, so you only have to worry about the audible cue.

Mega Lottery ** FREE HIGH TIER GEAR** RESULT IS OUT!!
HMS replied to Bonehead3535's topic in New Player Discussion
Number 12 please, and thank you. -
I am not sure if you know, but you must go to the center post, and look about 1/2 to 3/4 way up to get the option to remove it. I don't think you can get the option at all on the end posts. Removing it from the game would be unfortunate, but leaving it in has led to needless griefing too. Maybe making it destroyable in the stand-alone would be possible. The fact that a grenade thrown into the firehouse cannot remove the miles of barbed wire left there - just so people can teleport in behind it off another server - is not acceptable as it stands. Ah, complaining about alpha problems. What could be better?? :)
-
My gut reaction was to say "It's part of the game, deal with it" and then I came to my senses and hereby tweak my reaction to say "It is a crappy part of the game, fix or remove it." 10 PRINT "w00t" 20 GOTO 10

Were they still up on the roof? If so, how would you sneak up close enough to make an effective attack with MP5s? The way I'm thinking is, if you climbed up they would hear you. If you were on the ground, they'd have to be standing upright on the edge of the roof like fools. Of course, it could be they had a false sense of security about night-time, like I did before I got NVGs. Basically, nothing is safe. haha
-
Welcome to the game! If you are currently holding, say, your mp5, and try to remove the hatchet from the toolbelt, I think it will tell you that you do not have enough room in your inventory. You need to either drop the gun first, or magically find enough room in your backpack. Your anxiety is justified. I have been shot at for absolutely no reason in Cherno. Actually, every time I have been shot at it has been for no reason - whattaya gonna do? Paranoia is also a good thing. Good luck!

No problem Jeremy. I have to run mine with everything on lowest possible now - except for the video memory, which is set to high, because I have a card with a lot of vram. So, to answer how does it look: it does not look as bad as you might imagine. It's fairly good, I'd say. The only problem is that since the game draws details differently the further away you go, sometimes things can be deceiving. Example: a large rock in the woods. Normally, these are pretty smooth with rounded edges. From far away, say 200m, the edges are jagged. One looked like it had a peak on it. So I hoofed it over to investigate what I thought was a tent. The buddy who was with me must have thought I was high on drugs - which sort of matches my playstyle anyhow. :)

Buying a second account... Would it be considered cheating?
HMS replied to 3361's topic in New Player Discussion
Simple answer to your question: No. -
Where is the best place to find sniper rifles and people camps?
HMS replied to ProGamerGov's topic in New Player Discussion
Yes. Be careful and be sure you know what you are doing. I may be wrong, but from your title it sounds like you are actively seeking out trouble in a very hostile world. You will find trouble easier than the "sniper rifles" and "people camps". -
Definitely Jeremy. Just be aware that if you do have a lot of lag, it can be the server and not your specs. So if you are playing and the performance is just not acceptable, try another server. The game should run very nicely on your rig. To OP gavin: What they already said. You aren't going to be able to play it on that system, unfortunately. :(
-
Adding this: If you are in a tractor running around the deer stands in alt-view so you can have a peek and see what's up there without having to get out... You can't do that. You have to get out of the vehicle or nothing will spawn.

Hero = very challenging and way more realistically intense. I was in Cherno, in the SW Firehouse, trying to loot but couldn't get past the barbed wire, when a dude in a ghillie suit and 50 cal runs in, leading a trail of Zombies. I get him on the mic - probably scared the crap out of him because he didn't know I was there. I tell him I'm backing out and the room's all his if he can get upstairs. He comes outside and I tell him to lower his weapon. He has no mic, so he walks toward me backwards and finally types it out in the right channel. He knows I could have killed him already if I was going to and I chose not to. We ended up trading and I got a transfusion. It all worked out nicely. And good thing too, because his buddy was just across the street and I passed him on my way East to the hospital. This is what the game is about.
