My suggestion is to play more and then you'll know what to do. Stop watching the videos for a while because they are not always indicative of reality.

Walkerr, the thing where you suddenly stood up is not completely a "bug" because it's the game doing something on purpose that it thinks it needs to do. You really can't crawl over a threshold if it's more than about 2 inches tall. Arma2 just has no clue how to do that. It sees the curb as a larger obstacle so, up you go. On a related note, if you use V to get over a small fence, remember that you will not go back to a crouched state (if you were crouched before vaulting it). You will be completely upright, and thus 100% visible. to Zombies. And furthermore, know that you move the fastest when you are completely upright. If you are moving in this position, Zombies can NOT hit you because they have to stop for a split second before taking a swing at you. Makes it handy when trying to get away. The most valuable weapon in the entire game, for about a hundred different reasons, is the axe. No question about it. Infinite ammo, silent kills, 1 shot kills, etc. I've emptied a full makarov clip into a cow and was left with no meat, no ammo, and 3 zombies chasing me. Guns will get you into more trouble than out, when starting out, and even more when fully geared if you aren't careful. I have many more tips I could give, but you should learn as much as possible on your own. Only one more thing - because this is ridiculous... If you find a hospital, you need to break the glass to get in. And not just any glass. The ones to the far left or far right. /shrugs/

Elo, if everything is just as you say, then welcome to DayZ. No, you can't pick up the tent again. Wait until you are cornered by Zombies and decide to put your gun in your pack so you can take out your hatchet and then realize that A) Not only have you been losing blood for the last 5 minutes with no indication, but B) Your gun didn't fit in your pack, so rather than have it fall on the ground, it just teleported to the depths of Hell and you can never get it back. Alpha? I seriously doubt that an inventory system as messed up as this one is will ever work properly, no matter what greek alphabet letter you put at the end.

Yeah but DayZ Commander didn't have 97332. I forgot and had to go back to the dark ages of manually installing a beta patch, pre-DayZ Commander. Found the patches here: http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php Bummer for Marklund though. I hope he got it working and that's why we haven't heard back.

Yeah, it's the server. They are on beta 97332, which I have no clue how to get. There are a few players on it, but not many. But I doubt the original poster has the same issue. I'm sure he has tried many servers but don't know for sure.

That stinks. I am getting that now too, but only one one server in my favorites. I am fully updated so I don't know what that is all about. Anyhow, can you give me the server names of two of the ones you have tried? I will try to connect and see if I can see what you are seeing. Thanks!

Are you sure you are able to run Arma2:Operation Arrowhead by itself? in DayZ Commander (use nothing else to launch), check the left side in the middle... put an X in the boxes for Hide Wrong DayZ and Arma2 version. If you have done that and still can't get anywhere, go to Properties of Arma2 in steam Library. Look for the option to Verify Local Cache files. Let it do its thing. It will find some bad files. When it is done, launch Arma2 from within Steam. It will re-install Battle Eye. Then, do the same thing for Arma2:Operation Arrowhead. If either of these last 2 steps fail, close steam. Relaunch steam as administrator (assuming you are in Windows 7). Come back and let me know.

What servers? I have spent over an hour trying out my favorite servers and they all sucked. 1347 seems to have no lag at the moment.

I hope we can tell somehow how much blood we have. There is a huge difference between 8000 and 9000, and boy you better be sure about which level you are at.

After the first paragraph, when you say "hive" do you mean "private hive"?

Guys,WTF is with the laggy servers? RESTART YOUR SERVERS ONCE A DECADE FOR CHRIST SAKE! If they are empty, there's a reason. If they are full, they will soon be empty again if you don't restart.

I had plenty of morphine but LOST IT ALL when a server went haywire and lost all my items and now back to square one, except I have the 24 slot pack, so the last thing I want to do is run around Cherno.

Oh and to change your name, load up the game and get to Options / settings. Look under Profile. You should be able to EDIT it, and change the profile name to whatever you want. OR, create a new profile with a new name... but you may as well just rename the one you have been using.

If you have already found a compass, you can stop there and assume you have "beaten the final boss". I have gone weeks without finding one of those bastards, and was tending to play on one of those servers that doesn't have the little blue YOU ARE HERE on the map. I avoid those now anyhow because I like to set waypoints. But since we're here to give 'tips', I will say: check the , and . keys (comma and period). Get on DIRECT CHANNEL, so you can have a possible chance of speaking with someone in the game if you were to come across one. Then hit the / to open the chat line. I will add you on Steam. Look for the eGO tag in front of my name in Steam notifications and you will know it's me. I have some stuff, and am BORED AS HELL since my favorite servers refuse to restart, so I can't use my vehicles or tents. So... whatever you need, it's yours.

Loot and scavenge. I have been playing since late July and have yet to fire a round at another human. I have been chased and fired at, and dropped a nade in the bushes to deter the aggressor, but no murders. I am so heroed on the humanity scale I can probably start mass murdering people and still keep my skin.

Dude tents DO work in mysterious ways. I have had a few tents and never had a good result. Tent 1) disappeared 2) Works, and is on the world's most laggy and forgotten server. Good luck even walking up to it. Total crap. I abandoned playing there. YOU HEAR ME YOU MOFOS WHO RUN 3082??!?!? LOL 3) Works, but bugged out and lost EVERYTHING. Tents, more or less my endgame so to speak, have failed me. God this crap better work properly in the stand-alone.

I believe it's against the mod's server-hosting rules, like not putting a password on, etc. Too bad, really. Certain exceptions should be made. Alas, that doesn't seem to be an option at this time. That said, if you want to pursue action against the murderers, you need to contact the server admins. Sometimes there is some info in the loading screen - more often than not, though, you will just have to learn to let it go.
