  1. ZOMBIES.NU is one of the oldest DayZ communities known for its hardcore community and extreme performance servers. Tansien has been one of the big contributors to DayZ and is known for his own competetive DayZ-branch known as DayZero. We at Zombies.nu now want to bring the same type of experience and know-how into Epoch, and thus we are hosting our own Epoch server, with plans to include some of the great features of DayZero (lots and lots of enterable buildings). As with DayZero our goal is hardcore, thus competetive DayZ play is best here. What we need now is your help to build this server up activity wise. That's where you come in. :) Our main features: Extreme Server Performance (NO LAG) - you WILL be surprised Hardcore community with a very skilled player base Custom server unique content and future plans to add even more! As well as (in line with our mentality): NO SAFEZONES OR GODMODE AREAS, we expect and want players to NEVER feel safe - we have custom trader towns which offer some protection from surroundings though - Side Channel [ For new players, while we are hardcore, we are still friendly and want to help new players - ENGLISH ONLY IN SIDECHANNEL ] - Balanced economy [ Very different from Vanilla Epoch, things that make you a lot of money will be harder to get a hold of ] - Custom loot tables [ This is balanced all the time, the general idea is that to get the good stuff you have to work hard for it ] - Custom vehicle spawns ( 500+ vehicles spawn, no armed wheeled vehicles (they can be purchased for rich survivors though) we like hardcore, but we don't like running 80% of the playtime) - Custom Codelock code Change ( The codelocks will be a lot tougher to crack if there are few players online, risk vs. reward-thinking ) - Cinder/Metal supertough (millions of hitpoints) - We believe in destructible bases, but that you should really have to bring some firepower to bring walls down - AI Mission system with custom drops ( We have a custom version of Wicked AI running on our base, it has been heavily optimized and DOES NOT LAG) - UN/IKEA/PIRATE/MEDICAL drops ( We also have custom drops for new survivors with maps, expect players to fight over these as they contain essentials for building bases & surviving) - Crashsites ( Regular crash sites are found here and there, like in regular DayZ) - Third Person enabled (For ease of building bases) - No peripheral dots. - No crosshair. - Realistic Day/night cycle. - based on SWEDISH TIME To play on this server you have to WHITELIST, this basically means that you have to sigh up on our forums and register your GUID to your profile. This to minimize cheating. More details available on whitelisting on our QUICKSTART under DAYZERO at our website www.zombies.nu
  2. We have switched to a new map: Napf.
  3. Activity levels are still rising. We keep trying to make this a more competetive hardcore Epoch experience. Our philosophy is that no player should ever feel safe or bored. Visit our Skalisty Island bandit summer resort and spa with training facilities where you can meet friends and shoot them!
  4. Population is rising slowly but surely. Thanks to you folks! :)
  5. [ZNUES] is looking for 2 or 3 members for our EPOCH SQUAD. We play consistently (about 3-4 hours a day) on the ZOMBIES.NU Epoch Server and we need 2 or 3 more members. We have a base setup in Zub with 5 vaults, and plenty of gear, we have played for a long time so either you will have to as well, or at least be willing to learn. To get in touch with us, please sign up on the zombies.nu forums to whitelist and hook me or Frozen up in game. See you there! :)
  6. DayZEpoch 1.0.2.5 3DP: ON Reset hive on: 2013-11-21 NO GODMODE OR SAFEZONES Indestructible cinder blocks You are allowed to kill or destroy bases (free play) No AI (aside from zombies), just players Ran by and on the ZOMBIES.NU-community. (Register on forums to get whitelisted)

    Bring ACE to DayZ

Specifically certain things from ACE such as: Earplugs, better ballistics, wire cutters, blood trails, back blasts, combat deafness, ieds, gas (tear gas or mustard gas), gas masks, weapon overheating, weapon dust and weapon cleaning (weapons being affected by weather), different ammunition types (buckshot, hollowpoints, FMJ's etc.) stamina, weapon resting, white phosphorous, wind deflection... etc. All these promote realism and make the atmosphere of the game better.
  8. Almost everyone has had the issue where certain models "leak" away in absurd patterns, the cause could be open model splines or similar - regardless this happens around any location where there are player placed barbed wire or mod allocated/placed soldier corpses. This is not a graphics card error, or an issue with any type of hardware, nor is it server specific. It manifests itself only when looking toward certain locations (where the models are), don't go too close because they will start impeding on performance (ie. using up processing power) so if you encounter them I recommend to: 1. Turn away from the area where the glitches are occuring 2. Run back towards from where you came 3. Find an area where you can safely view the area with the glitches and attempt to fix them (see further below) The issue itself can look a bit different from player to player, but here are three examples: Where will you find them? 1. Northwest airfield 2. Balota airfield 3. Balota military camp 4. Chernarus 5. Stary Sobor military camp 6. Zub castle 7. NW Berezino (near the military camp) What I have tried attempting to remedy the issue (and what works): 1. Changing graphic settings (such as turning Anti-aliasing, post-processing and such) on and off, does not work at all. 2. Changing Vsync from On to Off and back again, works in a few individual cases. 3. Changing HDR settings between max to minimum works more oftenly. 4. Holding down shift, pressing the "minus (-)" key on your numeric keypad, releasing and after typing 'flush' works on a few occations (about 20% success ratio for me. 5. Changing your config file by editing: My Documents\ArmA 2 Other Profiles\<Your profile>\<Your profile>.ArmA2OAProfile: change so sceneComplexity=1000000; Step 5 works well in that it limits the progression of the model bleeds when they do occur, but it does not prevent it from happening alltogether. 6. Restarting Arma 2, sometimes this works - I have found that when it does it is very seldom. 7. Restarting your computer - This has about the same success-ratio as either option (4) or option (3). 8. Switching servers - very small success ratio, although this happened once when I was playing (was near northeast Berezino (near the military camp) and after switching servers it got solved. Switching back to the previous server "kept" the fix, so that worked once at least. 9. Switching between video ram (small, very high, etc.) - this works about 1 in 10 times. 10. Changing resolution from eg. 1680x1050 to something else and then back, this works some of the time, I have only tried it three times tonight, and it worked one time, so my success ratio is about 33% thus far - granted, I have not tested this as many times as I have option 2-9, but there you have it. I have attempted all fixes, including updating the drivers, I have also tried this both with a computer using an 560ti and a GTX260 AND an ATI 4850, the glitches occur on all the computers, and the issue occurs regardless of what drivers or graphics card I have. None of the computers have these issue with ARMA2 at all. So my conclusion is that it is mod-specific, and that when it starts happening it will not just "go away", it seems like once there is an issue with one of the models, the model is cached in the memory and will persist there until the memory is cleared, either by flushing, or some kind of memory clearing. Bottom line, if you experience the glitches, attempt steps 2-10, or if you are impatient, attempt steps 3,4,7 and 10 (they are the ones which I have had the greatest success with). None of these steps are guarantees though, there is currently (as of 1.7.2.4 and latest OA beta patch 95417) no 100% fix. P.S: One of my "clan-friends" report that playing the mod in Windows XP never results in any graphical glitches. (Confirmed by two out of three users, 66% success rate currently) I hope this will be helpful to you, and get rid of these glitches until Rocket releases a fix for it.

    Build 1.7.3 Rolling Update

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clip_%28ammunition%29
  10. So I wrote Bastian Suter (BattlEye-dev) about the current script/hacking situation, here is my letter (and their reply): "Hey! I'm just writing to you to show my support for BattlEye, I think it's great that you are developing this product and working toward preventing cheaters and hackers from ruining the game. With that said, as a player of DayZ my experience is currently pretty much ruined due to the fact that the client can send scripts and bypass the server. I am not a fan of the Arma 2-engine in terms of preventing illicit scripts to so easily override the game, so we have to rely on you guys to help. There currently are a couple of scripts that are the worst, 1. Invulnerability 2. Teleporting (either the player itself or other players to the players location) 3. Spawning of objects (such as crates with ALL items in the game) 4. Firing of vehicle weapons (I've seen a player shoot grenades similar to one of the air vehicles). I see AT LEAST one iteration of these 4 cheats on every server I visit these days with players playing DayZ. Even with your latest 1.168-update. Please, please do something about it. I beg of you. Kind regards, <Name omitted>" His reply "Hi, I know about this problem very well and many things are being done to fight it. I understand your frustration and I'm working hard with the game developers to improve the situation, because a great part of it is caused by the game's too open multiplayer engine. Please have some more patience, solutions should be provided very soon. Regards, Bastian Suter"

The enraged cry of a man killed in church.

Only thing I have to say is: LOL@public hive and the duping and combat logging that goes on there. Noob bandits with DMR's running around in noobtown killing noobs. Tragic really, can't believe I put up with that shit before moving to a private hive.
  12. I've been playing DayZ for about three months now and for about 95% of that time I've been on the official, public hive. I never experienced the DayZ that some people speak warmly about, before everyone started duping, hacking and killing each other on sight not only most of the time, but all the time. So after having fun but more or less accepting the random deaths via hostile teleportation, finding tents with ghillies, as50'ies, silenced m4 etc. pretty much everywhere it started to get to me. Everywhere I read that the game was "too easy". Well, the game isn't "too easy", the duping and hacking is making a completely different game - and I've just found the holy graal, SE9 and SE10 (zombies.nu). First of all you have to register to get access to the hive. That in and of itself removes a lot of hackers. Second of all, the hive is only running on two servers, meaning ghosting is pretty much nonexistent. Now, I realize that there are lots of private hives like this, but Tansien (who runs SE10 and 9) has improved upon the mod by adding features according to my needs, such as: * No more combat logging = your body stays in game for 30 seconds * No AS50 or L85 = no more noobstation snipers * No item duping = Tansien has made tents work properly (rocket should hire this guy tbqfh) * Weapons do full damage = Rifles are truly deadly, just like IRL, they are no longer nerfed like what was done in one of the beta patches (pistols are still the same) * Vehicles respawn properly = No more hiding the vehicles so no one can use them * Vehicles that are moved outside the map boundries explode etc. etc. This private hive is amazing. And playing on this hive is, bottom line, a completely different, better experience than on the public hive. No more hackers, no more combat logging, no more "everyone has a ghillie and an AS50 and a silenced M4/L85" because duping and tents/vehicles/backpacks is possible. There are some issues though: - Only one server (two iterations) - 54 slots that pretty much always are full - Lots of lag (in spite of great hardware) This can of course be improved upon by donating some cashdough to Tansien so he can improve upon the hive. Head over to his zombies.nu and read more about it, register and try DayZ at its potential.

Why you should play on a private hive

So you want to play the "real" DayZ servers which has rampant hackers, combat loggers and duping. Sounds wise.
  14. tobiassolem

Only FN FAL's past 3 helicopter crashes?

Yep, every crash site I find there's an FN FAL, and I don't mind because I don't play on the official hive where duping is so rampant.

If you were a 1.7.2.6 and you knew that you really were a 1.7.3.0, would you come out? If so, how and when?

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.6 Rolling Update

I don't need to defend a mod that still is in the early stages of development. It's like criticising an unborn fetus for not knowing enough algebra or lacking the ability to speak. As a coincidence, your "argument" is in the same premature stage. Barely worth a reply.
  20. Server: SE 6 Tuesday 11/9 Me and my two friends were scouting out the NW airfield tonight as one of us got killed at the south of the airfield. We started looking out for the shooter but he was nowhere to be found. After some searching and checking out of the usual sniper spots we eventually decided to head on toward Vybor via the treeline. I was 200 meters away from my friend, and I decided to run across a field south of Vybor (near the little hill nearby where there's a crashed car) when I suddenly hear an AS50 and hear on comms "I'm dead". Most likely the same shooter. I hit the dirt and lie down still for maybe 5-10 minutes and then decide to head to the general location where my friend got shot (not directly approaching his corpse). I head for a bush as I hear another shot and I'm dead. In the period of maybe 40 minutes this dude killed all of us, in spite of us playing pretty careful (well, according to us) and checking treelines and behind us, but still this guy managed to kill all three of us without us even spotting him. Well played man! Hope we meet again! :)

    To whomever killed [ITG] tonight

Maybe, or just a skilled player. I prefer to think of it as the latter.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.6 Rolling Update

Old tents seem to be working, I just placed a new tent and put in most of my gear, saved it. Put in the rest of the gear in an old tent, saved it. Logged off and waited for the server to restart, log back on: New tent was completely empty (ie. did NOT work) my old tent however had all the items I put there in it - still.
  25. Does the entrenching tool actually work? I've been able to build sandbox-hinders without it, and I don't see any other use for it. Wouldn't it be more appropriate if you needed empty sandbags + entrenching tool + a pile of sand (eg. at the beach) to fill the sandbags, and then had to haul them to wherever you needed to place them? Is it possible to actually cut barbed wire? I've seen it everywhere, but I have yet to find any wire cutters (they must be super rare), I wasn't able to cut the wires with a toolbox (which I guess is only used for repairing vehicles). Regardless, barbed wire-syndrome seem to be omni-present, people are using them as a means to block entrances to buildings rather than setting up defensive positions, and with every zombie having noclip, you can't block zombies off either. Beyond the obvious explanation (this is alpha, etc.) - is this the intended use for these items? Or is there something I just haven't figured out yet?
