Ambushing CQF (and stealing their Ural).

... and there you go again, these are baseless accusation. "Why bother" - simply because then your story becomes something that has credibility. Right now we have your word, which given how emotional you sound seem less than rational. People in this game cry fault immediately as they get killed or something happens they can't explain. Without clear evidence you won't convince anyone except maybe your closest buddies.

Ambushing CQF (and stealing their Ural).

@Blueshock: Accusation without evidence is mere slander. Back up your claims or you just come off as a butthurt nerd who raged because he could not accept he got outplayed.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.5

Did you just first admit to cheating and then saying that you were an "honest player"? Puhleeze.
  4. I realize this is controversial, so I am expecting a lot of "no" from both dupers and non-dupers alike. The idea is to prevent item duping in tents and vehicles. Since Rocket has claimed it is not possible to fix it in DayZ - more radical measures need to be made, and this is one suggestion.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.5

Apparently you can dupe using backpacks anyway. I run into people in full gear and ghillie suits all the time and I just realize I have to accept it's a part of DayZ. It's almost like a ghillie suit combined with a high powered sniper rifle is a dead giveaway for a duper.
  6. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/50722-placeable-radios-for-communication-or-misdirection/#entry485508
  7. First of all, I would like a radio system, with different radios: 1. Short range radio with an antenna that works within, say 1km 2. Long range radio with a longer antenna, but heavier and you have to replace your backpack to use it, range: say 5km 3. Antenna mast, 15m, deployable and connects to the long range radio, range: all the map First of all these things need loots of channels (say 8 digits). All radios on the same channel can hear each other. A radio setting is saved if say a player dies and someone loots his corpse, he can then listen in on the comms channel of his team mates. Also, radio signals keep being sent, so if you place one of these radios on ... say the ground, these can be used for misdirection. Such as: luring zombies to the radio (and by luring the zombies, snipers will perhaps hone in on the location where the zombies are, thinking there's a player nearby) - but also luring players. Naturally, this system could be use to scare the living beejesus out of people too. Place a radio in a well-frequented spot (such as inside one of the many stores) and then broadcast zombie noises, gunfire, or similar. If someone finds it funny, maybe they pick the radio up and talk back, in which case they could have a bonding experience, and in the end put a tent up on one of the mountains, and during night-time make the special male bonding ritual as known in the navy.

    Bring ACE to DayZ

Thanks Mr. Bukethead :) Naturally there needs to be some customization, for example the toolbox can already dismantle barbed wire, so that thing needs to be split in two. I also think that the earplugs would be nice, if you haven't found a set your hearing would be ringing after firing a few too many rounds, especially with a high powered rifle or a grenade. The downside to wearing earplugs is that your hearing would be affected toward hearing zombies and other players, so it's a balancing act. Perhaps it would make the crossbow or other silent (but less damaging) weapons more feasible. I think a lot of things coming from ACE add to the dynamic of DayZ, which is why I suggested this in the first place.

Placeable radios for communication or misdirection

It of course would not stop people from using separate comms, but not everyone have access to them.
  10. As it is right now the player kills are mixed in with the zombie kills in the scoreboard on the server. What I am suggesting is making them separate, sort of like in ARMA where you have a separate kill for vehicles, airplanes and infantry.
  11. The shift, minus, flush thing works sometimes.

Im scared... but not of the Zombies

Join a clan and fight other clans then?

Im scared... but not of the Zombies

Aside from some glitches, I think the zombies are fine as they are. I would rather please not have a bunch of twitch-fps type zombies in this game.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.4 Rolling Update

Yeah, and running with a long tail of zombies is not at all an obvious marker for a sniper/bandit.

    Bring ACE to DayZ

Indeed, realism that adds to the survival part of the game.

My rant on why DayZ is getting worse

The game is "too easy" once you get a gun? Have you even played 1.7.2.4? Firing anything that isn't silenced aggroes pretty much every zombie within sight. At the same time you say the game is too difficult in the beginning, yet the majority of players are able to handle it fine. Once you realize that losing one or two aggroed zombies is as easy as crouching in a bush out of sight, or running through a building, it isn't that difficult, and if you've aggroed more - well, you've probably been too impatient. He's downloaded a mod that in no way guarantees anything. It's an alpha test less than half a year in development led by a guy who doesn't do this full-time. "Client", "product", seriously - could you guys act more entitled? Coming up with opinions and ideas is one thing. Anyone with hands and fingers can type whatever they want. Understanding how a game is made, balanced, and enjoyable is quite another. So many game development studios caved in because entitled people shared their "opinions", SOE being one of the most notable. They ruined SWG because a lot of people felt it was too hard to become a Jedi - after all, everyone wanted to be one. So they caved in to people sharing their "opinions" and "ideas". What actually works is a completely separate thing, if you give players exactly what they wish for, if a game poses too little challenge, if it becomes imbalanced, then the "fun-factor" and sense of achievment disappears. It is a complex balancing act best done by experienced people who know what they're doing. Opinions and ideas are nice and dandy, but they're pipe dreams. Realizing something isn't about just knowing how to code (lol). I've been a part of several modding projects myself. None ever were even near as successful as this mod. This is simply staggering. I can however say that I am impressed by people who are capable of people who can realize something like this, and not just be blabbermouths and walking opinion-generating meatbags. What you call "ass-licker" is what I call respect for someone who has done more for a lot of people in a short time than you or I have, or perhaps ever will.

My rant on why DayZ is getting worse

Everyone's got an opinion, in the end it is facts that make a difference. Fact is that making and perfecting a mod takes a lot of time, there are mods out there that have been worked on for years. DayZ still has a very small team working on it and Rocket has said that the "standalone" thing is a goal that is going to happen "somewhere in the future", when that is, we don't know. He himself has speculated on 2013 maybe(?). How many mods with the complexity and gameplay value out there do you know of that have been developed for "4+ months"? Seriously, can you find one? Do you know any game mods at all that by month 5 since the inception were deep into making it standalone? To me you just come off as another entitled spoilt player that got something for free and aren't happy with it. I remember back in the very late 90'ies when Counter-Strike alphas were played on a massive scale at the school I was teaching, it took roughly a year before it truly was playable and it peaked somewhere around 2004. Compared the development of CS, considering we're only a couple of months since the very first release, I think you are behaving like the noobs in DayZ, running around, dying again and again and finally giving up "Game too hard and boring". - you need patience in and with this game, particularly considering how difficult it is dealing with/working woth the ARMA2-engine.

mariush: I see no issue with the zombies behavior in your vid. The fact that the zombies are running toward where the noise is coming from is afaik as intended.

My rant on why DayZ is getting worse

Well on the surface it sounds like good advice, but then ... who are you to criticise? No, don't answer that. Rocket has, as an individual come up with a game design that is so popular that a dated, and really buggy engine like the ARMA2-engine is being bought in numbers that ARMA2 only had in its inception, and then singularly because of Operation Flashpoint. Not only that, but DayZ is a mod in an alpha stage, normally we don't even get to see these things because a smaller group of developers and their friends are playing this. The success is so riveting that the game is being talked about all over the world. I would say if I had to bet on who has a better idea on what is required to make a game successful out of the two of you, even without knowing who you are. I would bet on Rocket, any day of the week. With that said though, I agree with you that there are issues with this alpha mod. But lets not forget that the only reason that we know of them, is because Rocket made it an open alpha.

My rant on why DayZ is getting worse

Yep, hacking is bad, and bugs suck. But that doesn't mean the game fundamentals need to be changed.

My rant on why DayZ is getting worse

Impossible? Now that is simply not true. I've played the past two days doing ONLY scavenging (alone), killed about 200 zombies, and only ran into other players twice (they didn't see me though), have 0 murders and I've been all over the map. It works just fine, so "impossible" is sheer nonsense. The game does have its bugs, agreed - version number ought to give you a hint on why though. Killing zombies however is very easy, particularly when you've learned to adapt to the way they aggro. Don't leave yourself in open terrain. I killed about 100 zombies in about 30 minutes using an AKM in the NW airfield. They even managed to knock me down once, but still survived, even though they were walking through stairs and jumping through concrete. I got a bit lucky, but the bottom line is that if you learn how to adapt, you will have few problems, even when just doing PvE.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.4 Rolling Update

As I recall from one of the interviews, Rocket has a vision for the mod and welcomes suggestions - but as I recall he makes the decisions, not based on popular view but for the core concepts of the game (survival being the first and foremost). Kinda swings both ways, eh? There aren't that many trolls, but there are a lot of people with controversial opinions. Perhaps you disagree with them, but surely they have the right to their opinion just like you do. And who are you to tell them to shut up, did rocket dub you dayz policeman?

Why can we use blood bags on our self?

Being a survivor is about being fucked over, it's what the game is about - get it? It is a multiplayer game, people who team together are stronger for it - just like it is supposed to be. But I'd agree with your opinion if and only if there were specific type of blood bags for each blood type, and that your blood type only was shown at the very first time when you play (like the location). So if you inject yourself with the wrong blood type, you die. Also, since it's only a bag of blood, it should only add a smaller amount, say 1500. Sounds reasonable.
  24. I think we're gonna have to wait until Monday for Rocket to read the forums. I hope he's partyin' and having fun while we're playing games ;)
