wegotabadassoverhere.jpg Its not dark or brutal once you learn everyone exploits and dupes, all this grim dark talk seriously makes me laugh, the game doesn't even have half its mechanic's finished and survival is joke which is why the less creative players are all KOS pvp guys, I'd reccomend arma 2 for those guys but really even Arma 2 has less Deathmatch then this game. hell if you wanted to you could camp out east of Komanko or whatever its called and survive for months just looting food and refilling your water bottle at that town.

So your saying the guys camping electro with 0.83 chance to spawn gear are totally not dupeing and going right back after respawning with the same 0.83 ghillies and dmrs? and that in no way influancing there griefing? guess im wrong your not an idiot, no your a Blind idiot. this might have started as a social experiment but its becoming a stand alone game, and Bohemia isn't going to fund some social experiment now that 75% of the player base are griefing 18 year olds who shoot anything that moves, go check out UO to see how that little experiment went (hint: that games pretty much dead now.). Do us all a favor and play arma 2 with some mature players they might teach you a thing or two about haveing fun without dangling a carrot in front of your eyes, I get a good laugh from guys who pay 30 bucks just to play an alpha mod. also LOL at using the broken bandit skin system as an example for why it won't work, because obviously this alpha mod isn't going to try a new approach. seriously kid beta test more game's before turning to keyboard warrioring over less then 50% finished mechanics, the bandit skin system didn't work because it was broken and 50% of bandits were just guys who shot back when fired on. -

Oh hey look its this strawman arguement again, most of the KOS guys would be dead in less then a month when they start bleeding and have no-one around with first aid training Or get killed by zombies because they arn't marksmen (pro-tip shooting real guns isn't like with a mouse and keyboard.) or when a group of survivors decide to take revenge on that hermit who keeps shooting at them from the hill's. you clearly just skimmed through a history book otherwise you'd find examples of society's that didn't kill everyone around them or ones that died from isolationism. A group of survivors hear a gunshot and decide to investigate, they pass you on the way and discover the body, they then put 2 and 2 together and decide to eliminate the threat, assuming you don't get shot by the guy you kill and later die from bleeding or infection. I like how everyone assumes in real life conditions are completely ideal when you talk about doing something. -

Sigh typical, Dupeing has everything to do with what we are talking about because half these griefer noobs only do it because they have duped shit in tents and remove all challange or risk from the game, Bandit skin will turn you into a "kill this guy" target and everyone in the woods who didn't pop you will now, maturity has allot to do with playstyle as evidenced by the large amount of 18 year old know it alls that post on this forum and only bought arma 2 for dayz and are to stupid to understand this is an alpha mod and go straight to keyboard warrior when someone post about an ingame issue. If rocket purely wanted the community to balance the game he wouldn't be putting in mechanics to encourage not be a KOS uncreative twat and exploiting shit like alt-f4, you know what happens to every game that they let the community have complete control? it dies from hacker and griefer noobs. In real life you'd also gain a reputation and everyone would know what you look like. in Dayz everyone looks the same so the mechanic is necessary, Rocket has already said in a podcast that bandit skins are being put back in the game as well as some hero skin, unfortunately most players arn't mature enough to not dupe stuff and camp new spawns on the coast so its the community's fault as well for needing this mechanic. -

This, Its the exact same with Eve and Ultima online and both games are dying from it UO is pretty much already dead and eve hasn't seen any growth for 3 years (and most of the people still playing are multi account abusing griefers who buy game time with real money so theres no revenue being generated.) Its mostly due to modern gamer lack of creativity and a compulsive loot whore disorder that insures they will never travel north in fear of running into someone equally well geared and lose there stuff. Because dying and having to walk back to your tent full of duped stuff is so unforgiving, which is what every coastal sniper does. when everyone is playing the same game and those snipers are risking loseing a 0.83 chance to spawn in a highly contested PVP area Ghillie suit and DMR to a new spawn who found a lee enfield then ill accept the game as harsh, as is though its just exploiters constantly camping new players with duped shit every spawn. -
In that case killing everyone on site is playing a pretty poorly thought out role that breaks any immersion, I believe people should play there chosen role within reason, like when I decide to play bandit on one of my lives I don't play it like a psychopath because that would make a pretty shitty and poorly written book, no i usually sneak up and hold people up at gun point making them drop there weapons and then searching them for food and survival supplies Taking only what I need and then leaving them with enough to defend themselves. Its a much more authentic experiance OMW then just killing everyone 1km away like some psychopathic hermit. Usually though I play Experienced surviver who helps other survivors who can't defend themselves because it offers a much more dynamic experiance then watching people through a DMR scope all day.

Because most of these kids just bought Arma 2/OA to play dayz and probably haven't even booted it up and played a single game. Shame because its a fun military shooter if you find some guys who are good at setting up scenarios. -
So i've been wondering for awhile about why there are empty whisky bottles everywhere since tin can's already do the job, then I got thinking about how whisky can be used in the real world to disinfect a wound and seeing as how this game is a survival sim it could flesh out the infection system a little, like instead of that random chance you have a chance when bleeding from a zombie (since bullets are usually heated to the point of sterilized It would just be zombies) for an infection to develop later if you don't use whisky to disinfect the wound before bandaging.

I think adding a 50% chance for gear to be destroyed on being shot would work as a good item sink, and it makes some sense since if you shoot a guy with 15 ak rounds in the back you'll probably destroy half his gear IRL. for guns adding durability might help, the way i see it this scavanged guns have probably been used by someone else for awhile and in various states of disrepair from the start. -

Wegotabadassoverhere.jpg Dayz is not hostile at all if your an exploiting clan with a tent city, its only hostile to legit players and new spawns because of people like the OP because when we die we lose stuff, when he dies he goes back to his tent full of duped stuff. Yes zombies are not much of a threat but thats because they are buggy and greatly limited by the game engine, I like how everyone assumes this alpha represents what the end product will be like, but i suspect most of you just bought arma 2 to play this "game" as opposed to someone like me who bought arma 2 to enjoy a sim with player based scenarios, Its a mod that isn't even 50% finished yet you all act like its a finished standalone game that gets patched. Once ammo duplication, server hopping, nighttime, survival, bandit skin, etc is fixed/closer to a polished state then you can start talking about what this game "IS" and "IS NOT" right now we are all alpha testers giving rocket feedback for his survival sim mod and its clear that with his re-working the bandit skin its heading in a different direction then KOS deathmatch game. A year or two from now I'd love to see what the keyboard warriors of today have to say when zombies are a legitimate threat, wild dogs are added, bandits are easily identifiable with the skin, and people have like 4 bullets that are non replenishible through server hopping, and god knows what else is working like intended.

Game purchase, Only go subscription if your ready to devote a substantial amount of effort to fix bugs, protect against hackers, and overall balance the game. I used to play Eve and like many others haven't renewed my subscription because of all the bugs and broken/half implemented mechanics and overall catering to the griefer demograph by supporting multiple account users and allowing players to use real money in the game world.

Match's should have a limited number of use's while upping the chance of finding them (really, its a common item in a place that still use's outhouse's), hunting is kinda broken with the animal AI a wild boar will just stand in front of you while you shoot it in the head, water bottle system could use some work as I feel allot of those wells would be unsafe to drink from without boiling the water first.

Funny you should say that, rocket just announced bringing back bandit skin not to mention the mod STARTED with a bandit skin because Rocket knew that without some sort of punishment CoD kiddies will just murder everyone on the coast for absolutely no reason. I dislike the idea of needing a bandit skin myself but its pretty much a requirement with the lack of player skin customization or ability to enjoy a sim its just impossible to tell who's hostile and who isn't.

I got eaten by the floor once when i had a broke leg and lost most of my groups survival gear, though I'd consider my "worst" to be when I ran for like an hour to meet up with a friend of mine who just got Dayz so I could show him how to play just to have some griefer noob snipe both of us near the light house when we had nothing but a makarov, i find crap like this far more annoying because of how retarded it is. -
So sitting on top of elektro with a DMR and useing a tent to dupe is considered a risk now? I can't wait for the exploits to be fixed so I can watch all the "PvP" players camp elektro with like 4 bullets and zombies that can't be glitched inside buildings. anyways obvious troll thread is obvious.

Oh lawdy, have you ever studied history? the fact that Our ancestors didn't resort to slaughtering each other to extinction and instead began to build society back when we were a bunch of tribes trying to survive wild life, disease, gather limited food/water, etc proves we wouldn't kill indiscriminately and for absolutely no reason like the COD kiddies do in this mod. Hell ill bet most of you guys wouldn't even know how to bandage yourself properly without someone else's help. -

Oh man I love reading comments from internet badass wannabes like this, so in a real zombie apocolypse everyone is going to start killing eachother for absolutely no reason? Okey then I hope you don't mind not having a respawn button when they hunt you down for being a psychopath.... you know assuming you don't die from a bunch of other things because you were a hermit socopath who couldn't perform basic first aid. Its not the game that needs fixing, its your inability to enjoy a simulation without turning it into a deathmatch game because your so uncreative that when given freedom in a sandbox game the only thing you can do is what your forced to do in every other game. try playing arma 2 sometime with some guys who setup scenarios for fun if you can control yourself and not ruin the experience for 5 minutes due to your loot whore and griefing mentality. Sure this Mod has a ton of bugs but the biggest issue is the player base who can't see the mod as anything other then a pvp deathmatch with tents to dupe and serve as an equip screen before the match start and the debug window as a Kill counter. It does if you play the game without exploits, I often go out alone looking for supplies when my friends can't log in for the day (or if one of them has a broken bone or some issue) without having another person to cover me a random zombie can knock me out and tear me apart (and this has happened to me a few times at under 9000 blood) as opposed to having another person kill the zombie, bandage my wound, and cover me while I recover. the choice is more risk getting killed by a ninja zombie versus sharing the loot. Anyways about the topic at hand, I've never felt the need to kill a new spawn because i don't have an internet ego that needs constant stroking or feel its worth killing someone over a bandage. usually when i see an unarmed person I tell them to stop over direct chat and turn around so i can check there bag to be sure they arn't hideing a weapon, after that i usually give them some spare supplies or a pistol if i can spare it, (I tell them to keep it holstered and if they raise the weapon while looking at me i will shoot them) If they want to party up for a bit I say sure but as a rule they stay in front and can't weild anything primary unless we run into bandits. its worked out well so far. -

They are easy up until one sneaks up on you, falcon punch's your leg off, knocks you out and takes you down to 1000 blood. I just had this happen to me today and it was not fun. -
You seem to have a mic in that video so theres no reason you couldn't have talked to him over direct chat while keeping your weapon drawn and aimed at his head. really its not hard to do and i've been able to diffuse allot of possible sticky situation with my AK by simply telling them to holster there weapon and back away, you'd be surprised what you can do in this game with a bit of coordination, I gave a new spawned named Niko a makarov and some of my spare medical supplies without getting killed because I was careful.
