Separate slot for Flashlight in the Inventory
Partywaffle replied to BuddyMcFriend's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Tape would be an interesting addition to the game, and I can see it being used for quite a lot of things! You should make a suggestion on that. -
I prefer when there is an arc melee "swing" rather than the firing of a bullet. However it seems that with the Arma II engine the possibilities are limited with that. It would probably require a lot of engine tweaking and coding to add a melee arc. Question about the crowbar since I have never actually picked one up: Do you also have to reload it like the axe? I laugh every time I have to pull out the axe. Also: is there a speed difference between axe and crowbar?

Before you read note that I am not complaining, but I am rather sharing my experience with you. I started on Day-Z about a week ago. Have not had any issues with hackers or players killing me, and in fact I had only been killed once. For three days I searched town after town a few hours a day looking for tents in order to store some of the guns and medical supplies that were crowding my alice pack. On the fourth day I had finally found a camping tent, but not just one. I received two camping tents due to some kind of glitch, or they were both stacked in the same spot. I was in Vybor below the NWAF, and traveled all the way south to Zelnogorsk, and then went east to Msta to conceal my tents in the woods. The travel time amounted to about 2-3hrs of running due to zombie and player encounters. Once I had arrived at my destination it was getting dark, and it was raining. I could not see two feet in front of my face to place down the tents. I decided to wait till the next day to do so. On the next day I placed down my tents, and put my strongest weapon (no ammo) and all of my medical supplies in the tent. I then went around to neighboring towns and looted all that I could. Ended up walking back to my tent with nothing really worth while, and logged out. Later that night I attempted to rejoin the server, but could not find it in the listings. Waited three days for said server to come back online, but it appears to be gone for good. tl;dr: found tents after 3 days of searching, spent 5hrs to conceal tent, placed all gear in tents, and then the server goes offline for good.

I've got a day 6 character, and I almost died because a door in the barracks took out both my legs, knocked me unconscious, and made me bleed. Doors = worse than zombies by all means. Only reason I lived was because the zombies in the barracks lost interest in my body somehow.

Thanks! It seems the only factor slowing down my Day-Z progress is the percentages of spawn on certain items. It's really easy after awhile! :]
-
Tents don't transfer servers. Once placed down they are a part of that server. If you're offline or in a different server the tent will still be located in the same spot on said server.

Empty all tents and vehicles every X days
Partywaffle replied to tobiassolem's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I disagree. I am only able to play this game once or twice a week. If there was a server reset once a week then I would find basic supplies, but not get too far into the game to really enjoy myself. I do agree that the game's hackers and dupers need to be taken care of. Once a month might be a better idea, but for now just mark camps you find in the forest and pillage them of their resources! -
The "Official" FIX on trust in DayZ
Partywaffle replied to Bladez 0f Fury's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I want a group system in day-z through the form of an article of clothing, or even hats! I would prefer to bring the arma II group system into Day-Z, but I want to be able to friendly fire. I love the fact that you can kill your friend, and if you take it away from people it starts to ruin the game. I support bringing the group system to Day-Z, but I don't support PVE. I just want an easier way to spot your teammate besides flares and chemlights. Edit: If you really want this to stick around then don't leave this topic to die. -
Separate slot for Flashlight in the Inventory
Partywaffle replied to BuddyMcFriend's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Being able to simply press L to equip a flashlight quickly would be great. With a weapon switch delay of course. I often never have enough room in my inventory to switch, and night play is already very difficult. -
This has great value here. Bumping due to the fact that everyone posts great ideas on the suggestions forum, and then forgets about their topics. Anyone else tired of the obnoxious re-posts?
-
Can't tell if trolling or very stupid. Arma II + AO is great in itself. The game has a lot of bugs, and on top of the Day-Z mod being in alpha. If you don't know what it means for a game to be in alpha then you should look it up. Also, this is a suggestions forum. If you're having a problem with your game go post here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/forum/12-troubleshooting/

Have you attempted to server hop? At the moment there is a bug with a lot of servers causing players 2-3fps upon joining. Also due to the long load times while joining a server it almost takes 10-15 minutes to join a new server. It's almost impossible to server hop already (IMO).
-
I support a rework of the crowbar. I want to be like Gordon Freeman in Day-Z, but at the moment the issues and low damage makes it impossible.
-
It needs to do more damage, and/or needs stack able ammo. I support this.
-
There are issues with zed AI. They are working on fixing it. This is Alpha. For now you just have to deal with killing them in buildings, or by zigzagging around buildings and trees in order to lose them. It is annoying, but it works for now.

US361 is the server I play most on. I never have frame rate issues there, but today I decided to server hop for fast loot. Upon entering a few other servers all FPS came to a halt at 2-3 FPS. Completely unplayable. Hopping back into my main server fixed the issue, but I don't know why the problem was caused.

"lol I so mad you got me."

I agree with upping the damage back to what it was. Having to use a whole clip of revolver ammo per 2 zeds is ridiculous. Rocket wants the game to be more PVE than PVP, but when I stock up on ammo of all type, and run out of ammo after just a few zeds, it makes me want to just rush past the zeds and lose them in the woods. Edit: I think it's nice that it's now harder to kill players (unless you've got a sniper rifle), but zeds shouldn't take a full clip of half a clip of ammo to fall over dead. Also this was found: http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/x7ek1/weapon_damage_nerfs_in_arma2_162_full_details/c5k7u2f Where Rocket learns of the Arma II weapon damage patch, and states he will "see what he can do."

Loot in bins, trash piles and vehicles
Partywaffle replied to disorder's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I have to say I was actually disappointed in the fact that I did not find loot around trash cans or cars for the first time. Supported. -
I would love to go to random buildings and pain "leave now or die" on the outside. Being able to get a red paint can and paint it like blood. "No Escape" would work well too. I support this idea, but it might work better and be easier to code if it was free form drawing with paint. I can put up with the penises in order to draw and write other stuff on buildings. Supported

in the FAQ it states that there will be no changes to the length of time that night occurs.

a friend and I were running around small towns, and it was the first time we had ever played. We were aggroing all the zombies and attempting to kill them out in an open field for food and water. The respawn rate kicked our asses and after using all of my pistol ammo, and all of my Winchester ammo I get cornered on a wall by two zombies. I quickly opened my inventory and dropped all my guns on the ground and unequipped my hatchet from my toolbar. After killing five zombies in order to save myself I am slowly bleeding out and my friend is passed out on the ground. I killed all the zombies around my friend and attempt to drag him to safety while bleeding. I had bandaged two or three times during this ordeal, and was just now out of bandages. I would drag his body about 10 to 20 feet before being attacked by one or two more zombies, having to drop him, and kill the zombies with my hatchet. Needless to say after 20 minutes of constant bombardment from endless waves of zombies I fell pray to their attacks, and fell unconscious on my friends body. He regains consciousness and attempts to get the zombies off of me. My friend who I had tried so desperately to save got away safe and sound due to my efforts, and instead of saving me he ran for his life. Friends aren't worth the effort in Day-Z.

Removal of "zoom"? [in standalone?]
Partywaffle replied to bluerising's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The issues you posted were related to the actual bugs and problems of the Arma II engine. Bandits will not be stopped regardless of if there was a zoom feature or not. I think taking the zoom feature out of the game would make a lot of people give up on it. Arma II may be a mil sim, but it's still a video game. I zoom constantly, and what stops a player from finding you via their sniper scope or binoculars? I think if anything it would hurt less equipped noobs even more. -
I think it would be cool, but it would ruin the game for most players. Think about a disconnected player, or a player who loses internet connection in the wrong situation. A factor not controlled within Day-Z or Arma or by the player. There are other factors which would make this bad for players, but I won't get into them.
