1.like everyone have said look in the lower right corner the only thing is there are two names (if im not mistaking) the name in the middle shows you current location (like kamenka,komarovo,airstrip,wilderness) the one on the top say chernarus wicht is the map that a lot of new player seem to look at and they get confused. http://dayzdb.com/map this is a huge help when you start and dont have a map (dont belive in all of the car spawns a lot off them are arnt acurrate or false locations) 2. pros: more firepower, and a lot goes faster and more fun :) cons: people will less likely dont trust a 3 person group (i only trust two or one survivors groups) 3. stay away from elektro if possible (if you spawn try to avoid the hill north-east usually where the snipers are) and try not to run between elekro and cherno (cap golova becouse many snipes new-spawns atleast before) 4.you should move as a group but with some distance when you enter a town and someone watches over the city so if one gets killed the other one has a better chance of killing the one who killed you sry if what i wrote did make any sence :)

i like Mta dayz my only problem with it is the sounds you dont hear the car before you get run over and you dont hear fotsteps. for me fotsteps are vital.

if you get pinned what statik says is important wait for him to make a move if you are pinned or in cover and look in the direction where you heard the shoots (in 3rd person) generally you can spot him if you wait long enought. Dayz is a waiting game in fights (sorry for my english)

one intreresting thing about being a woman in dayz is that you less likely to be shot, i play as a woman some times and people seem to be more friendly against you unless the elektro sniper get you.

defibrillators would be awsome so that you would revive a dead buddy withing 4 min and it would be a tool item, but inside reasonable limits like if you get headshoted or shot whit an 0.50cal it wont work but you can use it as often you want on dead bodyes.

well some servers have a no killing rule and if you break it you will be kicked/banned, it normaly says the rules in the lobby or in the server name. (dont know if this is the case but it is the closest i can think of.)

If you are using dayzcommander there will be a cloud whit an X in if it is a private hive. i think

the sounds in dayz is what generly makes it scary i turned down the music to zero when i started playing then i turned it back on later. See if that helps.

you probaly starved to death as food and drinks are important to your characters survival, or you bleed to death.
